  • @brianegan3 : what's wrong with bluegrass?

  • @RyanPalmer0 : Nuthin' wrong with Bluegrass, just people. Buddy, check out SLEEPY MAN BANJO BOYS here on YouTube. Three brothers, none of them old enough to drive, playing Bluegrass that would embarrass Bill Monroe, Flatt and Scruggs. I shit you NOT. Check these younguns out. They're FANTABULOUS.

  • Nice playing, I admire it.

  • nicely done

  • that sounds more like bluegrass

  • @brianegan3 : Bluegrass is fukin' GREAT. Take a listen to three young brothers called SLEEPY MAN BANJO BOYS. They're on YouTube. Bluegrass at its best. THERE'S ABSOLUTELY NO DOUBT. If you didn't like Bluegrass for whatever reason...retardation or deafness...you will after hearing these three prodigies. Take my word for it.

  • Like, could ya turn it down a few rpmz at first? Best job I heard yet...besides Ed King'z.

  • well yeah...three guitar parts but Ed King's part here is done with two note plucks...not single note...lots of palm muting also. It's a great lick. At least I think it's Ed playing here..could be Allen on a strat...definitely a strat though.

  • @bloozedaddy not braggin but ek rsvpd an email

i sent - like 10 yrs back now - about this track

said it was all pretty much rossington

other than the intro & fills which were ed

i was just t/y to get a reply buti still hear 3 separate guitars

on top a strummed rhythm (ac?) in the middle a sorta chet atkinsy doublling that (the 'double pluck' you mention (ek?)) and gr's bad self soloing

30+ yrs later i do love this thing still

  • well yeah...three guitar parts but Ed King's part here is done with two note plucks...not single note...lots of palm muting also. It's a great lick.

  • @bloozedaddy : Oh ya, no doubt, BUT Ed King never got the credit he deserves for the Skynyrd sound. Gary and Allen with Leon were all part of that great guitar "voicing", for lack of knowledge of a better word, of Lynyrd Skynyrd too, please don't get me wrong, but Ed King was a HUGE part of that sound which young kids don't even know who Ed King was/is. Gimme Back My Bullets album...a great album too, BUT, do you notice something missing? I do and it is Ed King and his Stratocasters.

  • Ya lost some weight there Ed.

  • Sounds great guy.

  • sorry to say the lick isn't played like that...it's done with the 3rd and 5th strings being plucked at the same time. Listen closely to the track...you'll hear it...it's almost like a James Burton kinda deal...eg "Hello Mary Lou"....

  • @bloozedaddy : More than one guitar on the Second Helping track eh.

  • This is the best ive seen for a cover GREAT JOB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Right on! Great.

  • Tarnation...!

  • that would be really good, if you had a good guitar and amp

back then ronnie's band's music had become part of my dna & im not really kidding

times change tho ... but hearing you nail this lick sure rekindles some fond memories

& i mean you nail it it has some of that nasty billy gibbons sauce on it too which only enhances the flavor
