  • The statement that money is taken from your account like cash from a debit card in "real time" is not entirely true.

    Many major banks reserve the right to keep transactions in a "pending" status if your account balance falls below a certain amount. They then wait for you to exceed your account balance and process the accumulated transactions from largest to smallest to charge you the maximum in overdraft fee possible. This is called "Re-Ordering"
