When was this? 68? OMG I was 10 & know I must of seen this, I had a big poster of Davey Jones on my bedroom wall at that time. But must be old age setting in because I don't remember this one? Thanks for posting!
I wonder if anyone saved these outfits?? They sure were . . . . . .interesting. LOL Thanks Monk for sharing. :) I remember when the Monkey's were going to be on. We were all so excited! lol Not old. . just older. And we loved them all but Davie was the favorite. An English, cuddly guy. They were put together like a lot of boy bands today and we were shocked that they formed them like that! lol Thought they'd been together for years. . .
the problem w/ liking old bands is that by the time u want 2 c them they've broken up and it's impossible! even my mom had 2 c them w/o mike back in the 80s!
I would have liked to have seen "The Fickle Finger Of Fate" segment from this episode. That was always my favorite part of "Laugh-In" (well, after the party segment)
Yeah, I saw them twice in concert then and mean Mike didn't show up either time. ::pouty:: Of course the 2nd time was at 6 Flags and I wasn't really expecting him too.
Can someone please explain to me Mike's "good news-bad news" thing? I don't get the punchline...though I do like the idea of him being completely naked...teehee...
I'm not for sure but it seems to be a running theme of the episode. He refers several times during the joke wall to riding shotgun. I guess we would need to see the whole episode to get the reference.
I dont know about peter needing a good spanking I think I should be spanking Mr Nesmith for stealing my favourite dream.Naked on stage! someone pass the Davys marracaas hhhhhhaaaaa hhhhhhaaaaaa
I saw Peter Tork (by himself) in around 1999 and he was awesome. Very talented, played both guitar and keyboard really well, I didn't realize how talented he was. Thanks for posting this blast from the past!
that would be groovy because all of the clothes that stars wear are bought and sold at every single second hand store in the nation-particularly the big cities like Los Angeles and New York City-something like this is easy to imagine because of the endless length to look for it like living in peace with our families
Give it time because all of the other favorite true laugh riots like this one are going to it because it's like you go into WalMart and look at the shows and movies and every single show is one that fits this description-so, roughly speaking, I would have to say within the next year or two-maybe at looking through that scope
My favorite part of this is everything that Mike said and did like starting out with "Mr. Jones, now there's no reason for me to come in here and lie to you" and "you have no reason to throw me out because of the great deal I have to sell these great encyclopedias to you"-the way he did that is the salesmanship ought to need be done because sidewinders of any profession are bad news because they look like they have white krylon paint on their teeth and you know it
"Are you sure that Desi Arnaz started out like this?" Micky gave Davy a direct hit "yes" because that's the way it really was because of the fact that that one way made "I Love Lucy" a success and Mike, when he got to be the video pioneer that's still well-celebrated, did the song "Tonite" and made the video for it that I love, he celebrated Lucy and Desi.
There's the art of living then, there's the art of salesmanship and although, it is crazy we have to keep our sanity and not let it overtake about our being as normal, happy citizens of God's world that we so love to be and call our very own
@sandman616 I agree it is not the same without the four members of the Monkees on one stage. Peter returned to the Monkees a decade and a half later and they have a Monkees reunion tour. Peter felt exhausted and he left the group.
Best show ever.

At first you're meant to think stage means he was performing. The punchline makes it clear that stage means stagecoach.
cchristian 4 years ago 3
Oh, okay...I was kinda wondering if that might have been what he meant...

That's not what my dad said. He told me it was a rather dirty.

Peter was arrested for drug possession. I think he spent three months in Prison.

I was gonna say prison but that wasn't till 1971 so I'm not sure where Peter was during this episode.
