Speaking of awful remakes, how bad is the Taking Of Pelham 123? Got the original on dvd for 3 quid and it shits all over it, big style. I hadn't seen it for years and it was fun to watch after having seen the remake. Robert Shaw kicks as in it as the villian. You seen it?
The title and promotional material did kinda give the whole wicker man thing away huh?
Kudos to you for avoiding it for as long as you did. The film has almost zero repeat viewing potential though. It's not the kind of film you pop on to watch on a Tuesday evening. Put me off Drulds for life.
The wicker man was awesome though. I like that it had rabbits in its genitals.
I watch yours religiously. I need to start cutting mine, though. This week's is pushing close to 15 minutes. Ahh well, it's not like people watch mine until the end anyway :-p
I hate the Wicker man....both original and remake. I do own the original in the wooden 2 dvd boxset though but I bought it like 10 yrs ago without having ever seen it before.
I used to watch The Equalizer with my Grandma EVERY week. I loved it. I really miss my Grandma. I tilted my head sideways while watching this for a while, but then it kind of felt like I was laying next to you in bed. That was weird.
I'm not going to lie, I thought about sending a search party for you when your video wasn't up earlier today. I've never had to do any kind of presentation on the scale that you do, but theres been times for my jobs that I have had to whip up something quickly, and I normally would just make an outline, and know that I had to rif on each subject for a certain amount of time. (Ok, I'll talk about loss prevention for 15 minutes, pause for questions after, let everybody get off course etc...)
@UnityPhreak It was intense. I've had worse though. The worst part is when there is one student who you can tell can see through your soul and knows you're winging it. Their eyes are like laser beams.
Doing a lecture is best done winging it anyway. Just pretend you have flair and off you go. ;^)
"Wicker Man" when I first saw it (I guess a few years after the release) it absolutely blew me away. It seems so absolutely real, plausible. No "Suspension of disbelief what so ever".
Now the age is showing but only 58%? I guess for modern standards it is a reasonable score. Personally I would ad 12% at least because of my original encounter with it. At least 12%.
This movie always gives me such a creepy feeling. It reminds me a lot of my childhood; where I grew up. Also, the sister of my cousin's ex-wife joined a cult years ago, and the people in the cult were a lot like those portrayed in this. Very eerie mood.
sexiest rough cut review to date

By the way there's a good series about horror movies on BBC Four called A History of Horror With Mark Gatiss, the first episode is on iPlayer.

@yaffle Thanks, yeah, I saw that. It's brilliant. It gave me some good ideas for the next couple of reviews.

Love this film. The same team behind it are having a crack at a sequel called The Wicker Tree.
yaffle 1 year ago
@yaffle The same team? Surely they're all 80-odd now!

@yaffle Holy crap, you're right! Who'd have thunk it!

The only thing I've seen of this movie is the terrible Nic Cage clips on Youtube... But everyone says the original is great. I need to check it out.

@TheWisestWizards Those Nic Cage clips are mental. Why is he punching so many women?

Worth watching for a chance to see Christopher Lee sing. Ekland's buttocks were really those of a stunt double.
BTW, what was your lecture supposed to be on? Are you in the teaching trade?

God, the 2006 Wicker Man is shit. I'm sad to say I've never seen the original, but it's definitely on my list.
CarrieDAway12 1 year ago
@CarrieDAway12 I know. What's the point of naming it Wickerman? It might as well be "Nic Cage Punches Women"
