  • about that new yorker you mean running out of gear means slippage ?

  • @raydonato42276 Not slippage, what I mean is that the car had a 3 speed auto with no overdrive, so final(3rd) gear is a 1:1 input to output ratio. The car would probably stop accelerating after the engine starts running to fast a speed and gets above it's usable power range.

  • oh BTW it's a 2 barrel forgot to mention that $350 732-964-0036

  • The ignition and door lock cylinders are now replaced. Changed the rear-diff oil. Next I will help my brother put in a Pioneer cd player/speaker bundle he got for Christmas. Then the cast iron 4 barrel intake and either a holley or a thermoquad are going on, of course exhaust will have to be improved as well.

  • @aboomanation

Awesome video! A friend is trying to sell me his 74 318. I think they're cool cars. Do you know how hard it would be to replace the steering column?

  • @aboomanation Got that stereo installed now, next is the 4 barrel set up and a new idler arm. Then I will get more videos up (with my higher quality camera).

  • Did you notice any power difference with that cam? Im interested in that same cam for my 318.

  • @that70sshow89 Yes! There was definitely a difference! It also helps that the timing is not off from an extremely worn timing chain anymore. To put into perspective, the very worn factory cam had specs of: Valve lift (int) .373" _ Valve lift (exh) .400" _ Duration at .050" (int) 204 _ Duration at .050" (exh) 211 _ Lobe seperation 109 The cam it has now is a low end torque oriented cam but it picked up power in the whole rpm over stock. I have the current cam's specs in the video description.

  • @aboomanation Thanks for the reply, I just rebuilt my 318 to stock specs, then added a 4bbl 600cfm Holley and edelbrock intake and dual flowmaster exhaust. Right now it pulls all the way to 5K nicely without much drop off at all, But the stock cam I hear is pretty shabby, even for gas mileage. Im just looking for the right cam for my set-up. What springs did you use? The stock 318 ones?

  • @that70sshow89 I re-used the stock springs. Needed to get this Valiant running on a budget, and it does work nice! Summit Racing recommended to buy new springs, but it is a mild cam, so I was not too worried. I have had it to 5,000 with no sign of valve float so far. Glad I can give you some input.

  • Was that a black soot-patch out behind the tailpipe of the Valiant after you revved it?

  • Love the aftermarket Key, Always one of my favorite's. : D

  • @josh666675 Haha! I will be fixing that first thing when I take it out of winter storage:)

  • @aboomanation No Leave it ha, i had a friend when i went to school. Thre was a girl she had a screw driver shved in her ignition all the time becuase someonetried to steal her car. So it's got dents all over it and the igntion and dash was just wrecked.

  • Paint it black! LOL sounds good

  • @462ANIMAL I see a row of cars and they are painted BLAAA ACK! If that's the color my brother wants it, I will help him make it black;)

  • @aboomanation BLLLLLLAAAAACCCKKK!!! mcm ftw (sounds good btw)

  • car sounds nasty! I love it..

  • can you do an exhaust shot before u start the cordoba and the valiant? I would like to see what it sounds like when u start them when they are nice and cold! Oh yeah make sure u rev it up too k.. :)
