  • wow that was indeed a rant humandeephouseman! but at least it shows you care! when I can afford to my dogs and cats get human grade food that I make myself. sometimes they get kibble, when I cannot even afford food for us. the dogs love a piece of raw carrot as a treat. but I used to add brown rice to the dogs' meals, or other whole grains, and now am having to rethink that. my daughter ordered the book. I used to use steel cut oats, and add some to theirs, and now I know that is bad. sheesh

  • I let my positive rant get in the way of my memory as I forgot to mention that I DO feed a home-cooked diet as well similar to Miss Becker's suggestion, but I am not able to do this everyday. . . 2 days a week the dogs get a home-cooked meal of free-range, non-factory farmed meat plus some organic veggies, which gives them a break from the grain . . Give your dogs a scratch from me :) Peace

  • and you will find your dogs will thank you for it :)

  • food . . My dogs are the healthiest they've ever been and this is because I don't let obsessions with food get in the way of my love for my dog. . Research is being dis-proven and dis-credited all the time, and some dogs actually don't do well on high-protein at all, it's not right to have fed a dog grain for most of its life and then suddenly reverse this and treat him as a carnivore . . Take away what you will from this, do your own research and form your own opinions with that amazing noggin

  • for dogs when in fact it has never been proven to be harmful for dogs. . Like I said, humans need to realize our dogs aren't wolves and we shouldn't be treating them as such, we our grateful to have an endless food supply of all sorts, including grains, and we should extend this abundance onto our dogs so they can enjoy other sorts of food as well, as long as these foods don't cause problems for our dogs. . In addition I throw in some canned as well, usually Weruva or some other organic canned

  • little . . I am not a veterinarian nor a doctor such as Miss Becker, however I have done much research on the subject and really believe that you should feed dogs some of everything . . For the dry, I do a 50/50 mix of Orijen (regional red) and PetGuard Organic Lifepath. Orijen is high-meat, while PetGuard is low meat grain-based, and I believe the combination works wonderfully for my dogs, a belief which is confimed by regular visits to our vet. . People get all obsessive and think soy is bad

  • don't provide at least *some* nutrition . . Plus, I would hate to be a dog and have an anal-obsessive owner who thinks they should feed me only meat because I'm a "carnivore." People have problems of their own and this is called an obsession . . I first believe in sourcing out non-factory farmed and organic when available meats, that is the first important part of a dogs diet. . I believe non-gmo grains are actually great for dogs as long as it's not the bulk of the diet . . Let your dog live a

  • First off I wanted to say it is amazing that people are gravitating away from commercial pet foods and realizing not everything presented to us is truthful, in terms of what we are feeding our pets . . I had to chip in my 2 cents though, as I feel people get way too obsessed with raw food and grain-free and such . . My dog is not a wolf and I wouldn't want to feed him/her like one . . Simply because there is research that dogs do not need grains doesn't mean they don't enjoy them or that they

  • does you cat meat need to be organic?

  • Fantastic and SO true! I choose a raw diet.
