Anne1878 says "clearly, he's an intelligent guy" - well, that's more true than she realizes - he has a PhD in experimental physics. Search in YouTube for "Eltjo crop circles", and yes guys and gals, DEFINATELY order from customerservice@peghead.nl his tutorial DVD "How to Play Fingerstyle Guitar". And yes, his English is as good if not better than most of us. Going through his videos, especially the yearly Christmas ones, you'll see his genius and great sense of humor. He's a blessing.
great control and I can see many years of hard practice. Is this a classical neck with metal strings? do you play just knowing where all the triads and why do you use a capo as I would imagine you can play in any key?\john
The first thing that struck me when I heard Eltjo for the first time was the absolute crystal clarity of his sound. It requires an incredible level of accuracy with the fretting hand and amazing touch with the picking hand. I realised immediately I was listening to a master with an incredibly developed guitar technique. His dedication to 'acoustic guitar movement' is also commendable and I wish one day I will have a chance to see him live and have a chat with him.
great interview eltjo! good to hear your early influences were the same as mine! (Paul Simon and James Taylor). have you switched guitars to martin? which one are you playing in the video? hope to get a chance to hear your new cd's when they come out. blessings, jerry

Watching this almost makes me cry, because I'll never reach his skills - not a quarter as good :-(
Buy his teaching DVD and try yourself - it's hard, folks!

Not just a great composer and player, also clearly a very intelligent guy. Refreshing, because many artists have so little to say...
