i have a question i got realy far in the mafia game to the part you lucky bastard-railway i chase morello down in the car but when i get to the cut scene part it goes to my desktop and says mafia is not responding checking for solution what should i doo it never happend to me before and any other cut scene

@skyarme Either re-install it or try to skip the cut scene (can you even do that? I haven't played for such a long time.) If that doesn't work try finding a completed save game and load the next part.

@robbyhq Just go to Google and search "mafia the city of lost heaven download". One of those should work. Just make sure to scan for viruses first.

@delijeceber Make sure your DirectX is updated and that you did the auto-detect before playing.

Ohh and guys don't wory i got it working. and yeah it's a shitty graphic game becaue, ifyou haven't noticed all he chracters and basically everything in the game is handrawn plus the map ofcourse. Dude, this game was made in 2000. 11 years ago

@BrianCook17 All I'm going to say is that there is something wrong with your PC's graphics capabilities. All these errors have something to do with graphics. Maybe your PC just doesn't like Mafia. Lol. I really can't help you further.

Yeah, I checked my directx version by typing in "dxgiag" in the search bar when you press start, and it says i got directx 11, which is the newest version. Your way of downloading the game is prob not the best since it worked for mafia 2 so why the heck isn;t it working for the shitty graphic game mafia??!!!

@BrianCook17 Just search "update directx" on google and download it from the first link. It will automatically update when you run the program.

@carlos16769 The same problem happened to me when I installed it the first time. You should make sure your DirectX is up to date.

@TheDabalkan That sounds like it might just be a problem with your computer. Does it actually open up to be the whole screen and half of it is just black?

@TheDabalkan Ok, go back to "setup" where you did the auto-detect and change the resolution to the resolution of your screen. If you don't know that resolution right click your desktop and choose resolution for Windows 7 or go to properties on XP. Make sure that the mafia setup resolution is the same.

Hey, Do you know how to enable the cheat console? ive tried shift + ~ but it doesnt work, apperantly i need to change some target line? but im not sure what to change and i cant find it on google

@tubtub222 I'm not an expert on cheats and I don't know what you mean by cheat console. But if you mean cheat codes I would guess you just go to the pause menu and type them in.

man i have one more thing to say, the 'Program Compatibility Assistant' on my laptop says that, this program might have not been installed properly.

So then there are two options,One- reinstall using recommended settings, Two- this program installed correctly. Do I just ignore what it has to say? )

@gazprom00 Just choose option two. Windows hates it when you install things directly to program files. As long as you installed it to 'Program Files (x86)' you should be perfectly fine.

thanks man ), but i could only enjoy the game for just over five minutes but then my computer crashed for some reason, when i start the computer and try to launch mafia again everything got messed up, some mafia files have been duplicated and do not allow me to open them saying it could not have been found and neither does it allow me to delete it, now i am starting over again although those files are still there i do not know how to delete them :/

@gazprom00 That is very odd. I would say that it has something to do with your actual computer. Make sure you save it in the correct place. If you need to remove/uninstall it just go to 'Computer' --> 'Uninstall or change a program' on Vista or 7.

When I try to copy "Game" in my mafia directory it says that acces to this folder is denied and if I want to copy anything in this folder I need some sort of a licence. Help? :s

@Jilvix Hmm...I have Windows 7 as well. My advice would to make sure your account has administrative rights. If not then it might be due to the fact that when you were asked to choose where to save the game, you put it into normal Program Files when it should be in x8 because it is only a 32-bit program. I doubt it that's the reason, but it could be possible.
