GMAIL does not let you sort by name, size or subject like Outlook does. It just makes it hard to delete e mail.

You can now have gmail download your popmail and have all the email you use indexed on gmails servers. We all win.

I was looking for that feature a cople months ago when my dad finally switched. Couldn't find it at the time, though I thought I'd seen it. He had several thousand messages on his old ISP email account (POP3 and maybe IMAP, but he used their realyl awful webmail) and was going through them manually, one by one, to delete/backup, which horrified me to no end.

Ah, but if you use POP3 and the Google Desktop Search, you can do the same thing, can't you? Until your hard drive gets wiped in a massive BSoD, as which point all your GMail-using friends will laugh and laugh. :-(
Best use POP3 with GMail and leave the messages on the server as a fallback, eh?
