To see the shape you make you have to go to your Camera View, Right click the Camera Text inside it, and click "3D shaded textured polygons"

I keep having trouble with the Shift+dragging aspect.

It refuses to duplicate. it works sometimes. but other times it just refuses to listen to me. :(

@LoneSniperFox Make sure you have the brush you wanna dupe selected. Then make sure you can see the red and yellow dotted lines. If you only see a red line you don't have it selected right. Then make sure your over the object. Then hold shift and drag. It should work if you follow those instructions. Good luck. :)
