@tomandreasVingaas they are called hackle guards. they can easyly be made by cutting a drinking straw into tiny pieces ,ou just slide one onto your bobbin and tie away i have been using this teqnique for years and it always works.
I truly appreciate that Norm does his whip finish with his fingers and not a tool. I don't see too much of that anymore. I have done it with my fingers for so long that when I did buy a whip finish tool I couldn't figure out how to work it and threw it out.
