I'm thinking about getting this camera. How do you like the low light? I'm not sure if it was the web compression, but the black clothes looked a little noisy. And it seems the hallway shot may have had some rolling shutter. It does seem like a very nice image for the most part. Your impressions? Do you get rolling shutter in fluorescent lights? That's a prob with the EX1 (my top choice for the 1/2" chips). Have you used the compact flash adapter?
The noise in the black clothes is the compression, and the hallway shots with the flashing strobe lights is rolling shutter. You will only get rolling shutter in florescent lights if you have a small shutter angle, don't remember off the top of my head how small. I have not used the compact flash adapter yet.
Thank you for sharing your day on video. Did you shoot all automatic (iris, focus) that day? How is the servo focus wheel without the stop? Do you feel the z5u is a better camera than the z7u? I'm in the market to buy and I can't get my hands on one down here in Florida unless I go to Miami or Tampa. Thanks again!
No I didn't shoot it on auto iris, everything was on manual, I had to turn the iris ring to adjust to the light and the focus ring to manually focus. The only advantage I can see the z7 having is the fact that you can change the lenses on it. Check out my other 2 Z5U tests.
The gain or exposure on the camera was changing. Funny how some thought this was a set though. 2 ways to arrange that I guess... set it up with SAG or pull the fire alarm.
Lol, it's not set up (I wish I was able to set something up like that.) It actually happened, for real. I literally just picked my camera up and started filming.
i remember when this happened in GW building..... so much smoke..

The effort you put into that was amazing, how did you organise the fire brigade and all those extras?
