  • @dpattiris Apparently, Youtube and more to the point UMG and other licensers, have pattern recognition software, as well. As soon as I uploaded this video, they were on it. I've even known them to gig some users for covers. Apparently, it's ok to cover a song in a bar, but not on Youtube. Interesting stuff! So you see, this music was for fair use....it "promoted comments". ;-)

  • @dpattiris Thanks for the reply....seems Youtube has varying qualifications for what is fair use. There are entire channels that display artists' music with nothing more than an album cover for the 'video' and I wonder how they 'get away with it'. I typically sync the lyrics to what is happening on the screen. So far, this disclaimer has worked for me, I suppose under the guise of "promoting comment or criticism".

  • @dpattiris How so? What would be a better disclaimer? I typically don't use other artists' music, but it would be good to know for future reference.

  • ireland is the most boring and morbid country in the world. enough said.

  • No Don't go to Ireland, all the locals speak Irish or Galick and there allways looking for crack or the crack i don't know

  • Jaysis!!!

  • @BrotherMalaprop Thanks, but you can just call me "BigBen".

  • I live in Ireland, so i get to see this stuff all the time....Also I live in Cork (UP DA REBELS) which is the 3rd so popular city to visit in the WORLD....so im a pretty lucky kid.

  • Wow, looks beautiful! Definately on my shortlist of places I wana go!

  • Hey this is cool slideshow. I was thinking about visiting cause I'm irish in ancestry but one question, is it looked down upon any if you don't speak gaelic, I know every1 there speaks english but is that the native language?

  • Thanks! No, you won't be looked down on. But, Ireland is like any other country....foreigners speaking the local language is always appreciated...it might even help you read the road signs in Co. Donegal which is more traditional. So, get your Rosetta Stone cds soon! ;-)

  • haha, does that thing really work?

  • Dunno, but for 200 bucks it better!

  • it looks like dirt bikes would be fun there

  • you seen more of eire.. than me.... and i live here... suppose its the fact that when you live here you take her for granted.. you have woken me up to its hidden beauty.. i have travelled up and down eire fished her lakes..drove her hidden roads.. all with my eyes closed.. regards to you sir. well done.

  • Indeed, sometimes we all just have to stop and smell the roses. I've been in maybe every county in Ireland and NI and I believe you could drive in one direction in any one of them and make a great video. Thanks for coming along for the ride!

  • your welcome... agus Go n-éirí an bóthar leat

  • and...may God keep you in the palm of His hand.

  • After watching this vid again, I was reminded during the "Learn a New Craft" segment of the recent loss of Waterford Crystal from Ireland to eastern Europe. Very, very sad.

  • Your slide-shows of Ireland are just spectacular, I wish I could do as good as you.

    ArchieUKx

  • I agree!

  • Start your trip with a good session in an old mans pub,

ride a drunk lass in a field of nettles, and get a punch in the face by a smelly tinker, eat bacon and cabbage with a pint of milk.

Buy a farmers hat and jumper and wear it on a night out.

Go to the killarney lakes and jazz festival in Cork . Go to the listowel races and trow a stone off the bridge and run as fast as you can....

  • thinks to do?is nothing to do in this shit hole.grass cutting god idea.

  • einslive1, I'd be willing to bet that you haven't done more than two things on McMossy's list below. How about golf, fishing, football, hurling, horses? Good grief, man. Turn off the computer and go DO something! Do you expect the government to educate you, give you a job, AND entertain you???

  • Nothing to do?

    You could improve your English.

  • nothing to do ?

    go home then.

  • One day, my true love and I may walk in this beautious land. Oh,- I wish it could be so.x.

  • haha sorry to be bothering you again, but what's the place at 4:51? I'm into the whole "wide-pastures-great-scenery" type of thing, and that just looks like it'd take peoples' breath away.

It's a great compilation, though. Thanks for making it!

  • No problemo! That is actually a golf course, I believe it was near Ballybunion. There are a number of them right along the ocean on the west coast. As you can imagine, the views are indeed breath-taking....but you better be able to play the wind!

  • Things to do Bunratty Castle - Co. Clare The Burren - Co. Clare The Cliffs of Moher - Co. Clare The Giants Causway - Co. • Oh mate, such lovely stuff you put out.....got to check out your other vids.

    Glad I found you.

Lovely scenery...the fishing looks great, I'm envious... :-)

  • Fresians forever, eh?

  • Good point! And, Ireland has some of best racing and most beautiful horses anywhere. Thanks for the reminder!

  • Absolutely beautiful captions you have here.

  • Great pictures well put together.

  • Thanks for dropping by again, FightingAries78! Repeat visits are always the best compliment. In case you missed it, please catch my new vid titled The Lighthouse.

  • Another great video and songs

  • To visitors to this site:

I welcome civil discourse negative or positive on this channel. If you have an opinion, back it up with facts. If you bring filth, off topic nonsense, or hate speech to the mix, you will be blocked immediately. If you have an axe to grind, go do it at one of the Hater channels. I've heard from enough bigots, perverts, and morons in the last 18 months to last a lifetime.

  • What a hypocrit! Here we are adoring the old ruins of medieval Ireland....All the way from the States ... after Vietnam perhaps!

    What a crock!

  • Apparently, Seamus, you didn't watch the video all the way to the end. You should watch it closer, you might learn some things to do besides living vicariously behind a computer day and night.

  • Hi, I really loves the first music, whats it called. Awesome, vids I'll definitely visit ireland one day. Keep up the good work.

  • The group's name is "Pilgrimage" from the "Nine Songs of Extasy" CD. Sorry, I don't remember the track name, but the entire album is great and I heartily recommend it.

  • Hi, thank you bigbeninjax.

  • I have a daughter who is a professional photographer and I am going to get her to help me and we will do this. Thank you for the inspiration. I looked up your music and am going to see if we have it locally. We really like it. We can literally drive hundreds of miles and not be anywhere so we really like music to be with us on the road.

  • Thanks, Brenda, for your interest. You can have one of the following stores in the Vegas area order my CDs through "Super D One Stop":

K-Electronics, Starlite Records, Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, Sight and Sound Center, Zia Records, Cash for Chaos, Big B's, Desert Collectibles, Musik Trends, Ensler Entertainment.

However, they will probably mark up the price over the CDBaby price (see the links on my homepage bio here on YT) who will deliver right to your door. Thanks again!

  • Oh, and I would be a poor salesman if I didn't mention that you can download my albums on CDBaby as MP3's complete with album art and at higher bitrates than iTunes, Rhapsody, etc. and they work on any MP3 player, iPod, cell phone, Blackberry, etc. ;)

  • Wow, help from your daughter would be great. Quick Yt search showed plenty of lights of Vegas vids but not much of the desert. Feel free to post it to one of my Ireland videos as a Video Response to give it extra exposure by the computer. I'm sure it will be beautiful!

  • I wish we were in that part of Nevada. We are Las Vegas area, Mojave desert, 112 degrees here at 9p.m. with lots of dirt and rocks and cactus and sagebrush. A different kind of beauty.

  • Yes, there is something to be said about those magnificent long views in that area.....maybe you can post a Youtube video of your area????

  • This is really great. We came to see our cousins in Trim 3 years ago and can't wait to get back. We live in the desert in Nevada and Ireland is so beautiful! Thanks for great ideas of more things to see and do, but I could sit by any river and look at the green and listen to the birds forever.

  • Yes, Brenda, Ireland is not the Ponderosa. LOL But, then, you've got the Rockies. I can sit and look at mountains all day long, too!

  • Thanks, Pino, for stopping by. Good to hear from you.

  • I would annoy gladly me * * * * * in a beautiful country as Ireland! Compliments for these beautiful images of peace!5/5 * hi from your friend Pino

  • Terrific

  • This is wonderful.

  • Love the song!

  • theres so much to say about ireland that you probably cant put in a video or a comment. but everything i would want to say you put in this video. once again great description and representation of ireland!!

  • True, Youtube's ten minute (and most people's attention span) does limit what you can do. I would have liked to have added more about horseback riding, Rose of Tralee, churches and faith, and music, and I'm sure more that others could add....there's definitely more than castles and craic (but I never get tired of those two)! ;)

    Thanks for watching and commenting.

  • gorgeous!

  • Is that Quin abbey there at 0.42?

  • Yep! Good eye, Mr. Curator. You know your stuff! Are you aware that nearby Knappogue Castle sells it own brand of Irish whiskey? It's quite good.

  • Embarrassingly no, I didn't know that. Is it called Knappogue Castle Whiskey?

  • Beautiful again!! My dream is to ride my horse in Ireland. That would be tuff, so on my next visit I will ride an Irish horse in Ireland! Not sure when that will be, but looking forward to going back.

  • What a great idea that I should have included in this vid, pixiehorse! Mea culpa. Well, at least there was the jaunty cart shot from Ashford Castle in there. Btw, that cart was actually the one used in the John Wayne movie "The Quiet Man". The horse's name was Napolean, also, but not the same one. He'd be about 70 by now!

  • vryy Kwll.. Needs Picz 4rm Donegall Tho..LOL!

  • once again ,very nice vid. i would really like to visit one of those local fishing holes. avid fisherman here, and, drinker of fine stout.

  • The little stone hut at 1:40 was called the 'Monk's Fishing Hut' for use during the winter. Notice it has a fireplace/chimney. It has a trap door for dropping your hook thru. Also, had a line attached to a bell back up at the abbey to let the other monks know to fire up the frying pan when a fish was caught!

  • Hey BigBen!Conas ata tu a chara? As usual very nice job!I should send you some photos of Maghernacloy Castle in Monaghan an old McMahon castle my family once owned. And those kids who say Ireland is boring dont know how lucky they are to live on a little bit of Heaven on Earth!

  • Hey, Brother Dave! Heck, I've been waiting months for you to post a slick video of Monaghan....put some of that extensive research that you do to good use. LOL You could probably do it totally in Irish by now.

    Sonus ort a chara!

  • I really wanna visit Ireland soon! Thanks for the video!

  • Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for stopping by!

  • Ben, congratulations on a marvelous video! Nice music and splendid footage -Good job!

I guess kids will be kids no matter where on earth they tend to dwell ha-ha! Bless their wee hearts.

You know in Ireland people like in Florida sometimes surf only they don't do it in the wintertime ;o)

Other things to do in Ireland, well there's always the local pubs or "the old pubs where fiddlers love to play" as the song goes (Song for Ireland).

  • But even if the scenery and the old castles where all there was to Ireland I would prefer Ireland to most countries in the world ;o)

    Rick

  • Thanks, Rick, I figured I'd better throw in a couple of pics of craic down at the pub for the 'older' crowd. LOL As for the kids, I guess it's hard for reality to compete with virtual reality.....or is it?
