  • I'm a second year student at a university, where I study robots (norway), but I'm 26... I'm 3 years behind, but have 1 year working experience... is my life screwed, or am I still going to be able to find jobs in Japan, as I'll be 28 when I graduate?

  • @CognitiveNetwork pretty much if you have a bachelors degree in any thing they will let be a assistant teacher but in your case japan really wants native English speakers. It's certainly not out of the question for you finding a job there but only if you have a bachelors degree.

  • Tomodachi means friend, right? At 1:07 he says "is your friend crazy?" Tomo..... what was the rest he said?

  • The problem is the spoken text never matches the subs :( It is always like that with all languages :(

  • @arbide3 not always, but in this case, yes, it really is kind of hard... In this case I mean (Japanese/English).

  • i hope thats for real sending a vid for her mr.right

Sugoi ne, wish i could learn so fast in japanese, im still slow

  • What about 'moshi moshi' ?

I often hear that when someone is picking up the phone....

Or is this phrase for girls only?

  • @TalaLoid "moshi moshi" is the greeting reserved for when you pick up the phone. It's not for girls only - everyone can use it! ;)

  • @TalaLoid and also for when someone is trying to get your attention like we say hey and starts waving in the face that's what I mean by that.

  • かつぜつわりーよ

  • Wow i can understand some of it 2 :D

  • LOL this drama is very good! too bad it isnt totally real, you know?

  • aww they are both so cute

  • On the first drama I thought you were supposed to say mashimashi

  • Really entertaining and useful. I'm starting to understand bits of it now =D

Btw, can anyone tell me the name of the song in the beginning please? ^^ It's catchy

  • she wants to go to Asia..is she aware that she's a;ready in Asia?!

  • Many months of listening and I know that's Yoshi and Chigusa!

  • ugh i only got the basics ofcourse.

  • I only understood about 10% of what they were saying... and I'm learning from books and free online...

  • Yoshi and Chigusa, my favorite hosts on japanesepod101. So happy to see you guys. Yoshi looks different from how i imagined.

  • この物語はある学園の荒廃に戦いを挑んだ一人の教師の記録である。

    高校ラグビー界において全く無名の弱体チームがこの教師を迎えた日から

    わずか七年にして全国優勝を成し遂げた奇跡を通じて、その原動力となった

    愛と信頼を余すところなくドラマ化したものである。

  • I understood almost everything :D Yaay

  • what is music that plays in the intro! its so catchy !

I WANT IT! =[ someone tell me plz

  • sugoi... kanojo wa totemo kirei desu yo..

i like your lessons, i`m here in japan today, working as trainee, already 11mos here and yet i can`t speak and comprehend japanese well, hoping your lessons will help me how to speak nihongo, thanks for uploading your lessons may God bless you.

  • he has a lisp...i watched this while backed, and i laughed my ass off

  • @japanesepod101:I saw this before..really funny

  • lol! I love the little point and cheesy smile at the very end xD

  • This awesome. Thank you for all your hard work to show us even more great ways of learning Japanese. This is so much fun

  • hate it! so far I have watched two clips but couldnt pick any words so dam adversely

  • she is super duper pretty!!!

  • How is it different to other japanese dramas? o.o

  • @Snowberry23 Well, for one thing, they speak much more slowly and clearly to make listening easier for learners. In some ways it's almost like watching an anime, hahaha.

  • @Snowberry23 Also, the script is deliberately written in a way so as to expose listeners to a broad range of vocabulary and grammar. In this episode, one of the most obvious examples would be the transition from polite to informal speech, and Nanase's list of the countries that she would like to visit.

  • nice video!! i'll share it in my nihongo class!

  • Ahaha, my Japanese is really so bad, I can only follow it for like 20%. Oh well, it's better than nothing I guess. :P

  • At around 1:19, he said "nikairyou matte iru ne. Kondo ha takai kara ne."

I thought he meant next time and not this time? And if its nikairyou as I have heard, then shouldn't it be alittle different?

  • @victimofsleep He actually said "mikaeri wo matte iru yo." When you translate it, it means "I'm waiting for payment.", or something of the sort. Mikaeri is something ( not neccesarily money) one gives to the person he/she is in debt with.

    Hope it helped!

  • @strawberriemilk thanks! you are indeed a help. my listening sucks!

  • @victimofsleep no, I catched that only because I'm japanese :) And even then, I had to listen to it a few times to get what he was saying. So it has nothing to do with your listening skills, I think :D

  • It's great! Such a short video, but so interesting and informative!

  • this is hard for me

  • what song are they using??? i like the beat. can someone help me?

  • after just a couple of weeks of being signed up to JapanesePod101 I actually understand some of what they are saying. The telephone conversation is quite difficult to follow, but the meeting at 2:13 I followed quite easily. Freaky!

  • That's great to hear! You're making progress! :D

  • why dont you write the words they say in japanese, beside the english translation it will be more helpfull ?

  • @japanesepod101 What about the kanji, if we can only do the free one how can we keep up with the reading and wrighting?

I really love this program and it helps alot! =3

  • @TheDuerden Is everything free? Or is just for a limited time?

  • Or is it Jun?

  • I wish they had subs for both English and Japanese at the bottom. Anyone got a link to scripts / explanations for this series? Thanks.

  • What's the song in the ending of the music video?

  • why didnt she say konnichiwa when she entered inside? she said some different way and also when the japanese guy said Good morning he said Ohio, isnt it suppose to be Ohayo Gozaimasu?

  • @SuperMarioBrothers09

she said '失礼します' pronounced like 'shi-its-lay shi-muss'

This is really useful phrase as well as 'すみません'

'konnichiwa' is often used between... acquaintances. they met first time so...

maybe it means like 'Hi' in english

  • @syosei9sdg

Please excuse my correction but, although she did say 失礼します when she walked in the door, it is pronounced "shi-tsu-rei-shi-mas" In Romaji, it would be "shitsureishimasu". In hiragana it would be しつれいします

Also, it really doesn't mean "hi" or "hello". It means 'please pardon my interruption' and is usually used when entering a non-familiar room or office.

  • Haha wow i can't believe i'm able to answer this question i do so badly in my japanse class.

But the boy said Ohia because its the shorten version of Ohayo Gozaimasu. Just like how we have shorten versions and slang in english so does japan

  • ohio is a more informal way of saying good morning i believe ^^

  • @lolastarsandstripes what about idaho and wyoming?

  • Ohayou can be said sometimes but it is impolite so you say it to your friends its like instead of saying good morning its just "morning"

  • isnt hello on the phone an onomatopaeia "moshi moshi"? or is it a tad more advanced then usual?

  • @risingphoenix215

you can see who is he or she on the cell phone. 'moshi moshi' originally mens 'I'd like to talk to you now' with some respect for others especially whom you've never met, your teachers, boss like that.

so to your family or friends, you don't usually say 'moshi moshi' when you begin to talk.

i'm glad to correct my english respose if there's something odd :-)

  • Right off the bat, the title. What does it really say? It does not say "I love" at least not in hiragana. This is usually a problem with Hong Kong movies where the title in English is from a totally different planet than the title in Chinese. What does in say in those characters and why the difference?

  • it says "ai rabu"

  • This must be in katakana, yes?

  • Yeah, katakana. Used for loan words from other languages but sometimes used for Japanese words just to confuse us, usually in media & advertising to add impact or variation.

As for English titles for Chinese movies, I think the producers try to find a title that is culturally relevant to the viewers. A title that will sell a movie in China may not sell in the US. Personally I wish they more or less translated the title because often it has some connection to the premise of the film.

  • It's katakana. It's romanized as "ai rabu", which is pronounced roughly as "I love". I know learning katakana can be hard, but it pays off in the end.

  • arigatou gozaimasu . kono dorama wa ichiban saiko desu .

  • Wait. Since men are all the same, she's going to try and find someone on a podcast? Alrighty then.

  • Jesus.... it's only for studying Japanese... it's not an actual drama >.> read the info before u comment...

  • I know what it is, but that doesn't change anything.

  • i like that song u can put a rap song with it haha 8)

  • 1 in 12 chance basicle an onze thing

  • I have to admit that this is a great drama

  • their greeting is so long...can she just say....sup dude

  • Their greeting's long coz thats their tradition and its polite..

  • didnt you hear the first thing he said? Hai hai or something like that? it means hey.

  • she is so pretty.......im dying.

    (x_x)

  • Wow i cant believe how much my Japanese has improved!!! i can understand mostly everything they said. Sugoi!!!!!!

  • The tune in the beginning really is great! Anyone know what it is or if it's available to for purchase or downloading at all? I'd love to make it my phone's ringtone!

  • huh! Is that Yoshi and Chigusa?!

It's nice to match the voices to the people finally =)

  • im in love with chigusa Yamaguchi!!!! damn

  • Cant disagree with u there.

  • I love the song of the beginning i'd love toh the name of it please

  • The girl in the video uses で instead of を, and some Japanese Teachers are saying the particle is wrong:

    砂浜で散歩します?

    砂浜を散歩します?

I'm asking Japanese Language Teachers this question in Japan and the 助詞 should be を as they are saying such as:

    公園を散歩します。

    道を歩きます。

    橋を渡ります。

  • The particles are correct in that で is the particle for "at".

So 公園で散歩します would mean to stroll at the park. Using を in this case would be incorrect because you cannot "stroll" the park, where を is a particle denoting a transitive action between noun and verb.

  • I found out that both で and を are both correct, but they have difference meanings. For example,

    空を飛びます

    空で飛びます

By the way 公園を散歩します is correct, if you check the standard textbook (Minna no Nihongo みんなの日本語) which is used in most language schools in Japan, that is an example sentence consistently used in the earlier chapters.

  • lmao

  • すごいいいいいい

  • LOL I love this!

  • sugoi!

  • is there a script with this, so i can follow along with the japanese?

love the video by the way ^ ^

  • There is a script and another version of the videos with Japanese subtitles all in the feed on our site.

I can't put a link here, but if you check our channel, you can find a link to the site. Just search for "iLove", and you should find it pretty quickly.

  • the only reason I would be a member if you had endless videos like this.

  • did you stop it ? I am planning to get a membership after the second semester of this year... I saw how the membership prices went down... Keep it doing this..

  • Hey drogo~

The production costs on something like this are really best suited for a huge TV company with corporate sponsors. But we're making a lot of other exciting videos these days. Hope you enjoy the new stuff coming out too.

  • Glad you're all enjoying the series!

Unfortunately it was never completed because of problems with scheduling and things like that. If enough people show interest in video at JPod though, they'll continue to grow and we can make this kind of video again. :)
