@Sk8FalIen I never ran it in this configuration. A few months after this video was taken the engine seized up and I got a rebuilt with Comp 262 cams put in and it went to a new owner after it was fixed. I believe he ran high 13s at 103 mph. It should of ran a little quicker with more practice.
@BillzHearse they are more rectangle shaped. The original 2 chamber 40 series. Not the super 40s. I'm not too sure if they make them anymore. I will answer every question but the car went to a new owner on Sunday and I got a nice 93 Cobra clone in return.
@RJBTrueBlue99 ah...i see. yeah, the flowmaster site is confusing, because they label the "original 40s" as one's that you can find on any shelf, whereas the boxier ones are labeled as "Classic series 40s" or "Classic 2-Chamber". I'm pretty sure these are the ones you're getting at: (flowmastermufflers com/shop/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=34_215). And congrats on the cobra clone!
@RJBTrueBlue99 yeah, i saw that as well. not trying to put you through the hoops, just trying to figure out how to get that tone. haha. what confused me was that the Original 40 series two chambers have one of those more basic, rounded-edge muffler shapes; but you said yours was more of a rectangular shape, hence my initial assumption that yours were the boxier, "suitcase-style" Classic 2-chamber mufflers that i was looking at.
@BillzHearse No I didnt have a supercharger. I originally wanted VT stage stage 2 cams but they were out of stock and VT recommended the Crowers. They were on the car for 80,000 miles until the engine seized. Im not sure if the cams had anything to do with it. With the new engine and smaller comp xe262ah cams the engine made almost 15rwhp more horsepower and 20rwtq on the dyno. I dont know if the the crower cams hurt everything or the engine was just dying.
@biggwill21931 To my knowledge I would think the internals are the same. The only differences I ran into when swapping the motor was I needed a new flywheel because the original motor had a 8 bolt crank and the 2004 motor that was going in had a 6 bolt crank and I also needed a different size serpentine belt and the alternator bracket had to be modified . I know the blocks are different along with what side the oil fill is on and the the number of bolts to hold the cam covers on is different.
@RJBTrueBlue99 yeah i already knew all of that i was just wondering if it had different ptv clearance because i didnt know that and u said it was a 99 with an 04 engine so i thought that might have been y u swapped.....i wanna cam mine pretty bad i wanna go with hitech stage 2s but idk i dont wanna mess anything up or the shop mess anything up seeing as how my engine only has 14k right now
@biggwill21931 The only thing I can say is find a reputable shop who has experience with these motors. Fortunately I live 2 miles from the shop I go to. They have Replaced the motor,done the cams,rear end gears, clutches, and all the other little work. When they were doing the cams they noticed one of the cam journals was warped so they replaced the head too. I would recommend a dyno tune after because I lost power and really leaned out the top end before the tune.
$600 to have cams and springs installed ain't bad at all that's not counting what you payed for the cams thereself so you bought the cams and payed the $600 to have then put in that's still not bad
@SuperMustang2004 $600, but that was including labor for the valve springs too. If it was just the cams being installed it probably would be half that.
@SuperMustang2004 No,N/A. I originally wanted VT stage 2 cams but VT was out of them and they recommended the Crower stage 2 blower cams because the specs are almost identical.
The paint job is sick, you could pull up to a 2011 and might out do it as far as the exterior
Mustang46liters 3 months ago
@Mustang46liters Thank you, I always took care of the paint but sadly it went to a new owner almost a year ago. I have since bought a 99 Cobra.

@RJBTrueBlue99 it also says your cam is designed to be running with a supercharger...do you have one, or does it work fine when it just has a tune?

@biggwill21931 I swapped motors only because of a spun rod bearing.

@biggwill21931 Stock pistons. The car is a 1999 with a 2004 motor.
