I think thats what differentiates it from other Interpol songs. The drums are catchy, quick, and nearly perfect. I have no clue what they where thinking when they wrote it; but this mixed with alcohol makes the perfect end to the day.
I love this song, I just saw the band a few days ago and this song was one of my favorites in all the show, that I have to say was such a fucking great concert, the band continue kicking asses INTERPOL ROCKS!!!
Can any (more trivia-loaded) fans tell me what Interpol's general writing process is? Is Paul the primary songwriter, or does the band tend to co-write the songs and then get Paul to write lyrics and melody over the top? I'm just interested to know. Kthxbai ~ Chia
@chiamusics All I know is, is that the band's songwriting process is a democratic one. Meaning everybody collaborates, everybody is the songwriter, so their is no chief-songwriter.
Interpol has some of the most Epic songs, I've heard in years plus whole group had a part in some of the song writing & the sad thing is I just by chance recently came across this band,
Too bad the bass player leaving band but left a lot of good songs to enjoy, 2 bad this music wasn't played mainstream more only stuff lately mainstream is same old same old most all Sound similar with talking about money cars ho's instead of focusing on the music worry more about artist image in the videos.
Epic track. what a band, saw them in manchester 2 weeks ago and they were fantastic. Kessler is genius and this track displays the mans skill perfectly.
This song take me to back wen i was living bymyself ! at 19 hehehe i use to listen to them all the time now am 25 and this song is still making me feel Good!!! i love Interpol!!! they are the best!!!
This song is definitively about Paul Banks' abuse of tylenol and a nyquil/jaegermesiter drink he calls very seriously "jaeger-quilts." The ending guitar outro is brilliant.
most bassists got to put up with shit rhytms and continous notes but carlos plays such good and different bass lines another good element with their songs
i ve had the joy to discover interpol a few years ago..its been an amazing journey trough every minute in their songs, every second spend time just listening its time beatifully spend and to see reality through this seen out glasses, this pink, weared out glasses of mine its just so perfectly armonic when they walk me through the doors of my thoughts..i absolutely love them.
completely agreed, plus the lyrics to this song are so............so..can't explain, i think you know what i mean,...well that is a terrible assumption to belive that i can possibly know anything about what you may think, ..........but i'll take my risks ..
@JJ62 Rest My Chemistry is CLEARLY about Coke abuse... [and if you know Interpol's history, the meanings of their songs become clearer as albums come out]
@LoONaBLuE Thats some serious shit. I can't take much Coke these days, there's just too much sugar in it, and the bubbles give me a windy tummy. Paul should try fruit juice, or maybe coconut water. That's really nice.
@kobra Yes I think you are right, and he also talks about AA meetings, at the end when he says "can we all hold hands when we make new plans" that is talking about saying the Lords Prayer at the end of an AA meeting. This song is powerful to me because I have been through alcoholism, it's no joke.
i'm kinda disturbed by what you guys are saying. so disturbed by it that i forgot what i was going to say... probably something like awesome song... or something...
It's good to know others feel this way about music and this song in particular.
It touches on something inside me that i can't put into words. like...you have to pause for a moment and think about $#!t goin on in your life...Realize what you're doing in a way. Ultimately kinda sad....
Whenever I listen to this song, my hairs stand on end and my heart throbs as my throat swells. I'm not some over emotional kid, this song just does things to me that I cannot explain.
This is now my third comment trying to explain just how amazing this song is.
I can't believe the amazing this song it is... I'd like to have this song in my wedding, funeral and later on.. XD It's so magically touching... I can't bear the feelings. This song is the best.
