Jane's version: (yeah, ya gotta credit me if you sing this version) All of him Why not take all of him? Can’t you see I’m SO good without him? Take his lies, He’s a confuser. Lizard eyes … He’s such a loser. His goodbyes Left me without his lies I’ve gone on And found someone new. He’ll take your heart And tear it apart So let him take all of you.
I'm not talking 'musicians' I'm talking artists. Face it, Billie didn't play second horn, drums nor base. It worked because she worked, hard, night and day. Showbiz is BIG and stars are the name of the game.
I do think this might have Teddy Wilson on piano and Lester Young on sax. Would love to know which year this recording is from.. Billie H recorded it more than once.
My name is Hugh, I'm pushing 65 and I also love this music but make no mistake, I would not have been allowed to sit in certain restaurants or aspire to certain jobs (let alone president) so let's enjoy while we keep the truth in perspective.
Jazz is so very many things. I mostly listen to Zorn and Garbarek and some free jazz like Ribot's Ayler work, and I allmost never listen to swing jazz........ but this is STILL the shit!
Hey kids, don't rush your lives away,it's still all there onVinyl/CDs/DVDs...watch ,listen, cherish, like I still do...I was born in 1935 and still can't get enough of Billie and all the other Greats!
@numbaonesamurai I was born in 1995 and I still can't get enough Jazz! One of my goals is to make the Big Band & Swing Era to come back. I'm currently organizing a Big Band :) I hope it works out.
@CalvinRocsxD@CalvinRocsxD Would have/would've**. The 50's isn't even when it all started; to have fully enjoyed the prime of Jazz, you should've been born in the early 20th century. A lot of 50's children know nothing of this music.
I'm 21, and I think there's nothing better than Billie to chill out and nothing better than Louis to feel an instant 30000 volt power-up.
I listen to nearly all kind of music as long as it's good, that means I can listen to Jazz, Hip-Hop, Drum'n'Bass, Progressive Rock, Heavy Metal, Classical, House, Blues, Reggae and a number of other genres so high I can't even name most of them.
But there are masterpieces made by incredible artists, that pushed youngest musicians to give us their best, and some of them have also pushed others in this way. I spend hours on youtube and music channels every day, browsing randomly to discover new things, and I hit some awesome stuff, both old and very recent.
However, no matter how much tracks or songs I add to my playlist, there is always a moment when I come accross one of those marvellous classics, then listen to classics during hours shaking my head, moving my body and swinging my arms. I also play them in every circumstances, in car, on way to school (or work now), when I cook, when I sleep, and I never can't help to feel good !
I agree that a lot of young guys are close-minded but I know a lot of youngs who still appreciate this.
@gt4lex It's wonderful that you have educated yourself to be able to appreciate beauty from so many different sources. The truth is, I essentially listen to music everyday all day, and depending on what I'm doing, and what my mood is, that's the sort of music I listen to. Whether I'm doing school work, showering, cooking, walking, happy, 'bluesy', inspired, etc. My music library is composed of 20k+ songs, and that's from old Jazz, music to the 70's (Carpenters, Bee Gees, Earth Wind & Fire...)
...to the 80's (Fleet Wood Mac, Michael Jackson, Stylistics, Madonna, Donna Summer...). I'm a 90's child, so I have early 90's dance stuff and the late 90's pop explosion and New Age peak, groups like The Cardigans, The Cranberries, The Corrs, Garbage, Alanis.... I have lots of contemporary music.... I pride myself on being able to recognize most any song that anyone asks me about, even if I don't like it. Music is my passion and it's my life philosophy... I live, breath and eat music. =D
@gt4lex I'm 21 myself, and I reckon there's something that this music has and evokes, which can't really be said for any other genre. Billie, Ella, Louis, Nat King, Nina, Dinah, Sarah... amongst others; they're just incredible. I also enjoy comtemporary jazz geniuses.
Nonetheless, I must admit, I too am fond of other music genres, which as well set different moods that jazz/blues can't. I love chill-out music, new age, house, opera, indie music and there is some mainstream music I enjoy as well
@Demendred1605 Never. How could something so soul filled die? Comments like this give me hope in our youth, I don't think I've ever had someone tell me they listen to Billie too.
