• Fuck yeah, PJ harvey made this video 100 times better.

  • regarde ma vidéo pour la protection des axolotl :) ! j'espere quelle te plaira! :D n'hésite pas a me donner ton avis (n'oublies pas de noter ;) ) merci d'avance -TheAxolotlProtect

  • Can anyone give me a price range on an pink/albino Axolotl? Please and Thank you. :D I really enjoy them, and would love to give one a loving home. <3

  • @Disseminate1978 theyre about £19.99 round here :)

  • He should be kept on sand, not gravel. Gravel may cause problems with his tummy if he eats it.

  • ITS SO CUTEE :D!!!!

  • lol same way i feed mine :)

  • Sand is better than gravel or a bare base to the tank, but blood worms are fine as food. My axolotl is fully grown, I was told by a breeder that blood worms are great as a staple diet for him.

  • THAT WAS THOOOOO KOOOLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 1:06 lol

  • GIVE ME YOUR AXIE.

  • what was it eating???

  • @josephmlong Looks like frozen bloodworms to me. However you might want to rethink the gravel, it can be quite dangerous for them. Sand or bare bottom tanks are much better.

  • @mekkha You're absolutely right! That axolotl will readily ingest gravel that size leading to impaction which can be fatal.

Also, the frozen bloodworms are a poor choice of food for an axolotl that size....nightcrawlers would be much better.

  • @josephmlong Bloodworms still clumped together

  • i love those litlle dinos

  • beautiful axol. could you please tell me what you feed him and how often?,

    thanks

  • @MXZCharlie axolotl dot org is a great site for info

  • were u get them

  • wow beautiful axol and tank!, could you tell me what your feeding them, as well as staple food. and could you give me the tank diemnsions, thanks.

  • "evolution is not real." is there anyone out there who can say that and honestly believe themselves after looking at this thing?!

  • What are you feeding her?

  • there not called mudkips! get it right Pokemon nerds!

  • @Cizza225 You know they don't troll but you comment like they are trolling...

  • I found one in a creek in Sedona, only it was greenish.

  • is the eternal animal slavery

  • haha cool arent axotls like indangered where did u get yours ?:)

  • @cog808 people captive breed them and sell them in pet stores otherwiseit is illegal to take an axolotl (endangered animal) out of their natural habitat.

  • awww cute

  • QHERE DO YOU BUY THEESE?!?!?!

  • Was that a clump of worms? O-o

  • Oh oh oh I love Axolotls ♥

  • hmmm i dont think u shud always hold out the food for them to eat they might get accustomed and then not catch their own food

  • Can you buy these in Illinois? Because my family was looking for these everywhere.

  • what kind of a terrible person would dislike this video?

  • I am trying to get into breeding these. They are extremely intellegent creatures. Axel (my Axolotls name) recognizes me and often tries to get my attention by standing on the rocks and staring out of the tank at me.

Also the gravel you have in your tank is a little small... axolotls have been known to suck up gravel while eating and it can choke them or get stuck in the digestive track.

  • there are so cool mine died because the aquarium water wasnt cool enouch i mean temparature, could do anthing about it do...expet place the tank outdoors in a shad, that wasnt a option whit a big ass tank ... there are realy nice animals, but dont expet to much of you wanna buy the its greaty fun at feeding time rest of the tme the sleep or lazy around much

  • You were playing accompanying music on the stereo while filming?? mind = blown.

  • three questions i need answered

    1. how long do they live?

    2. where can you perchase them?

    3. what do they eat?

for anyone who answers this, thankyou!

  • lmfao!!!

  • @erkekake LMAO

  • no thanks

  • 15 years

    aquatics / exotic pet shops

worms, live food, liver and beef heart etc

  • 15 years

    aquatic/exotic pet shops

worms, liver, beef heart, live bait etc

  • 1. up to 17 years

    2. you ca purchase them, but I recommend you buy them from an adoption forum. Google one in your area.

    3. Like all salamanders, they have a massive range of diet. In the wild they eat fish pellets, any other organic waste, they will consume gravel (so never have an aquatic environment with gravel!!!! This will kill them.),

  • @natalbug89 I have kept my axolotl with a gravel bottom, using a gravel vaccume from time to time to clean out the tank bottom. He noms on them sometimes by accident, but spits them out. He's a good two years old now, never had any problems with the gravel.

  • @itsbrianhaha im not an expert but im getting one so have been researching

    1) in captivity round about 10 years some say even 20

    2) not sire

    3) fish pellets, lamb liver, earthworms, blood worms and so on

  • at the end it looks like its got hiccups lol, im gettin 2 delivered by thursday :) cant wait!

  • if they're in the same tank they'll bite each other to bits

  • well only if they are still in their cannibalistic phase>> after one year they are done with that

  • i thought it was only if the tank was to small so their trying to make more space :S

  • i herd u leik mudkipz

  • actually if you think mudkip was based on this you are wrong, wooper was the one that is based on this creature, mudkip was based on a mud skipper.

  • Only the names, a Mud skipper looks nothing like mudkip?

  • They look badass. wooper wooo!

  • my one does nothing intill I put food eneywere in the tank it will automaticly get up and serce the tank intill he eats it and goes back to doing nothin lol :D

  • cut it in smaller pieces

  • im gettin 2 lol :3

  • cant found this in malaysia.

  • Ahhhhh it's CUTEEE

  • What's that food? It looks like a ball of shredded tobacco. I could be wrong though.

  • XDDD It totally does!

  • @Jaikodragon blood worms

  • Ah okay. Thanks for letting me know.

  • do you like mudkipz?

  • I think you're supposed to keep your mudkip in its pokeball.

  • I want one soooo badly. can anybody tell me where to get some near nashville tennessee

  • OMFG I love these guys!!!!!!!! My old Study Hall room in highschool was an Advanced Biology room - the teacher had a big tank with one of these. There was a small bubbler in the back - the guy used to swim to the bottom and ride the bubbles up then do it again and again. He looked so happy when he did! xD

Are they supposed to do that? o.o

  • He was probably trying to escape.

  • 1:15 He was Like :O was i suposst 2 eat that

  • Dont you find bloodworm extremely messy?

  • its critically endangered!!

  • no they're not,the reason they aren't extinct is because there are so many beind bred in captivity, get your facts straight you PETA faggot

  • Wow, funny animal! :D

  • I have got 2 of those cuties XD

  • I have 5 xD

  • OMG it looks like a pokemon

    i want one XD

i would train him and keep him in a little red and white ball XD

  • So I heard you like mudkips...

  • @artuno1207 you heard right

  • @artuno1207 I think that is more a Wooper D:

  • lol. it look like mouse on 0:16. so cute. btw where this creature could be found?

  • they are native to a pair of lakes in the mountains of central Mexico. one of the lakes has been drained to make way for urban development and the other is now a series of polluted canals in downtown Mexico City where the last of the wild axolotl will be eaten by introduced fish/die of pollution in the next couple years. Fortunately they have been bred in large numbers for decades now, for use in scientific experiments and can now be found in pet shops across the globe.

  • @TheaSinensisSerpenti ... I do not feel comfortable liking this as it is only stated fact, i mean it's good that they are not extinct, however i do not like the facts of the lakes being drained/losing their native habitat, being used for scientific experiments or bred to be sold in pet shops.... just doesn't sound so perfect....

  • @Confruzzlement At least they're not extinct, scientific experiments mainly as in, examining the fact they they can grow back limbs. I'm thankful that they've been bred often, and it's not nec always to be sold in pet shops, it means that hopefully at a later date they can be introduced into a suitable wild environment.

  • @TheaSinensisSerpenti except in California! Fuck Laws!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Does anybody know the name of the song playing in the background?

  • missed de pj harvey¿ xD

  • their pretty much underwater animals although they can grow lungs if they needa adapt to land but fer the most part i suggest just leaving them in water where they do best

  • OMG I want one =[

  • They are only endangered in the wild, not in captivity.

  • so i heard you like mudkips!!

  • didnt anyone know that these can regenerate any part of its body including its brain. also they can accept limp transplant from other axolotis

  • For those watching this and thinking about getting an axolotl, I would like to note that gravel of this size is inappropriate for axolotls as there is a risk of impaction (the axolotl swallowing the pebble and suffering because of it!!). Sand, very large stones (bigger than the axolotl's mouth), or no substrate at all are suitable choices.

  • i might be getting these!!!

how hard are they to take care of?

and do they live totally underwater or does the tank need some dry land?

  • (Sorry if I quadruple-posted or something there, for some reason my replies aren't showing up...)

  • (Never mind, my apology comment posted but nothing else!)

  • where did u get it?

  • Love those things... :)

  • 0:14 it looks like a white mouse

  • i want one!

  • Is that just a clump of bloodworms? Hah, nice. Makin' me hungry for dinner.

  • Ahh the external gills are so cool!!

  • my ghost just got attention, i have a news interview at 3pm

  • wtf do you feed it?

  • It's not a 'basic' salamander', it IS an axolotl...

Cool video, I have 3 of them... Isn't that food like.. totally frozen? =p

  • Where do you get them?

  • lol mudkip

  • 1:09, omg it just sucked in the whole thing

  • i miss mine her name was earlina :(

  • I read about those in Science at school they're endangered

  • wtf is that

  • Dude, that's one hungry beast :p

Mine aren't that 'aggressive' yet lol, but they're still young ^^

  • i am getting a axolotol this sunday can't wait

  • these r so cool I realy want 1!!

  • hey dude seriously can you help me my axolotl wont eat at all please help its been 3 weeks

  • OMFG A MUDKIP!

  • I want a Axolotl !!!

  • these are awesome...look like freaking mudkips

  • this is the best burrito ive ever eaten

  • :O now theres bloodworms everywhere =]

    sooo adorable

  • i want to get one of these but i dont know where to find one to buy where did you buy yours? or do you have any suggestions of where to look

  • I have the same problem, there are some shops online though. But the shipping is outrageous!

  • Go to your local store and ask them if they carry them.

If not ask if they can order some.

here in the uk once a week ALL the pet stores with about 200miles go to tawnton and but stock from the market.

Your shop in Texas might be able to order them in for you.

  • i had those but could keep me water temparature low enouch so the got sick, realy pitty, the prefer water between 10 and 18 degrees celcius, but my tank was to hot beacuase of the lamps generate to much heat

  • I WANT ONE

  • Sorry, your mudkip has eaten your weedles while u were gone O:

  • ware can you buy thme

  • what were u feeding him?

  • looks like blood worms my malawi chichlids love them

  • yes it was a blood worm cube you can buy them frozen in packs of 20 normaly at any fish shop for not much

  • Do you put the cubes in frozen or semi-frozen as I thaw them out completely but then you get just a mass of worms that disperse rapidly when they hit water but the one in this video seems pretty solid still.

  • I get a blood worm cube straight out of the freezer and cut into 4 cubes ( i have 3 axolotls 1 bigger than others) then get tweezers and lower down a quater next to the axolotl and he/she grabs it and eats it then if any bits disperse the others eat it because i have sand bottom they go and dig around to find bits that float off.

  • Thanks for that info. I think the problem I have is that my tank has small beach pebbles on the surface and uneaten worms get lost in the pebbles, hard for the axolotls to get to. I was going to use the sand on offer at the petshop I purchased my axolotls from but the owner of the shop said that the sand takes a few days to settle so I chose the pebbles as I was afraid of the axolotls swallowing the grit after reading online advice.

  • The shop owner thinks the axolotyls I bought about 2 weeks ago (£12.50 each I think but I bought feed and other accessories as well) are about 9 months old. They're about 5 inches long (12.5cm), one is white with pink gills (not an albino) and the other is natural brown/black mottled with dark brown gills.

I bought them from Preditors Pet Shop,

    42 Commercial Street,

    Shipley, West Yorkshire, BD18 3SP

Tel 01274 714344 if anyone's interested that lives near there.

  • I have seen axolotls for sale on ebay and gumtree but most are collect only and weren't anywhere near my area.

  • axolotis are like un finished newts right?

  • they are tiger salamnders stuck in their larvae stage because they lack a certain hormone so they do not metamorphis and remain a larvae all their lives

  • No their axolotls ambystoma mexicanum not tiger salamanders ambystoma triginum. they're a totally different species

  • how much are those things

  • i would name mine mudkip or that flower thing from mario :D

    these things are awesome...

  • i bought one yesterday. it is green. i wanted a white one but they didnt have one so next time they get a white im getting a second one
