  • @kampchick Only time will tell as to whether new build trams was the right decision.

Personally I don't think Blackpool will look or sound the same again.

  • Blackpool tramway is losing some of it's attraction with the introduction of new trams. How many oldies will saved ???

  • @zoomeristen Blackpool will be keeping around 25 of the old trams.

  • @kampchick Brush 630 is going to Crich Tramway museum and is currently being repainted into green and cream.

  • Very nice film, really enjoyed it

  • @GordonCrapper Thanks for your very kind comments.

  • Very nice footage, I like the Centenary cars. Do you know why they make that high pitch noise that can only be heard from the inside?

  • @Class317Max Not sure why they make the Sweep noise, I think it has something to do with the controller.

It's a very distinctive sound which will be missed when these trams have gone.

I am currently working on another video which will have a lot of footage on the Centenary cars that was shot during the October half term holidays.

    Thanks for your comments.

  • @dalrigh The "squeaking" sound is certainly the controllers - without getting too technical, the supply current is switched on & off very rapidly (in millisecond bursts) by the control gear, using thyristors, to regulate the suppy to the traction motors; hence once the cars are up to running speed the sound disappears as the motors are drawing full current. I'll miss the distinctive sound, but at least it will have a chance to live on at Crich, where I understand 762 may now go after all.

  • @1Thunderace Thanks for letting me know, always been curious as to why they make this noise.

Was speaking to someone yesterday and they seem to think that 762 was moving on Monday.

  • @dalrigh Thanks - yes, 762 has moved to Crich, last ran on Saturday 5th November & was prepared ready for transporting on Monday - in exchange (& this is bizarre!) Cardiff water car is on loan to Blackpool & now at Starr Gate depot to scrub the lines between Starr Gate & Pleasure Beach! If judged a success then it may stop in Blackpool on long term loan.

  • @dalrigh There's another rumour doing the rounds too - Centenary 648 twin-car 672/682 may be retained by Blackpool, Boat cars 602 & 604 may also be retained, & Balloon 711 (now not due to be modified with plug-doors) will be converted to open-top format to replace 706 which is in very poor condition - so 2012 may be a bit more interesting than we thought

  • @1Thunderace If these rumours are true it will great to know that these particular trams will live on.

I have heard about 706 conditions which is a shame, so it looks like 2010 could of been it's last year of service.

    Thanks for watching 1Thunderace.

  • 630 withdraw for Crich :(

  • @normandytrooper It's a shame about 630 also centenaries 643 and 648 are looking like they have done their last workings.

  • @dalrigh do you know where the Lancashire transport trust trams will be going ?

  • @normandytrooper Not sure where they are going and I don't think LTT know where they are going.

  • Another month, another fab video!

  • @ABZScotrail170 Thanks for watching and thanks for your comments.

  • Another great vudeo of the trams i'm really going to miss these older trams I know that makes me sound silly but I think the new ones won't have the same feel about them and the question is will the new ones live up to all the hype?

  • @kirk8472 I agree with you in that it's not going to be same without the old trams.

    Thanks for your comments.

  • A superb video and a joy to watch! Do like the slow motion clips.

I've been told Rigby Road depot is to be kept but only 6 roads available for trams. The rest of the depot will be for the buses that are kept outside.

It's hard to think that this time next year the tramway will be different and just won't look the same with heritage trams along the prom during the illuminations.

  • @stuvids Thanks for your kind comments and glad you liked the slow motion clips.

I have got a feeling that the clip of 643 (taken on 28th October) will be my last video of this tram in service.

  • @dalrigh that's good about the heritage trams , although it would be good if they made it into a museum but that's not gonna happen ,

  • another great video

  • @srpott40 Thanks for the comment srpott40 not many more video's to do now.

  • Do you know what will happen to the rigby road depot , what it will be used for?

  • @normandytrooper I have heard that they are keeping the depot for the time being and will be filling in some of the track lanes with concrete enabling busses to use them. They still intended to keep the heritage trams here for the time being.

  • Smashing vides as usual, nice to see the lights on the tower are coming along. I had a nice chat with a chap from Blackpool Transport and a guy from Bombadier when I was there a few weeks ago. Luckily I was there just walkin gup from the Big Blue Hotel when they had a Flexity 2 out on test. They are a nice looking tram and will certainly bring things bang up to date.

  • @FishyCam Thanks for your comments FishyCam.

I think the new trams would of looked good in the Metro colours if they had still been going, but we will never know.

  • Great video btw

  • @normandytrooper Thanks for your comment glad you liked the video.

Not long to go now for most of these trams.

  • Is the tram @ 0:26 not in service use as I see it has a learning badge on the front , shame that they don't have long left

  • @normandytrooper Balloon 711 appeared on learning duties all week and also the tram appear to have bad flats on it.

  • great job as ever glad to see a video back online blackpool for the winner

  • @droberts154 Thanks for your comments and thanks for watching.

  • Thanks for your comment timetochill66.

It's a shame that several trams shown in this video only have a week to go before withdrawal.

  • Great video, i drove through Blackpool about 5 years ago from the lake district, it was like a building yard on the front, hope to re-visit and use the tram one day.
