Superb film.... why.... you didnt try and make it the 1960s.... great record of steam on the mainline... kids, stations and life today... well done ... wish it was one of my films....
@Plattythegreat even as early as the 1930s, trains needed to have a generator car to supply power. For modern operation with carriages, it is considered essential to have an electrical supply. Rather than get one of the rare and tempramental generator carriages to go into the formation, they simply slotted the locomotive in. It does also provide good reserves for braking and confirming signalling via the in-cab computer. Same thing happens on the Royal Train and such.
Let's face it, the fat t**t was going to get in the way wherever she stood. I'd have given her a good kicking if she'd done that to me! Ignorant cretin.
That woman in the beige coat at Franborough.........how annoying!!!! Took a photo while staning in your way, and loads of other peoples I presume, then just wanders off down the paltform and ruins everyone elses shots. Really gets under me skin!
On that day I was walking to Hounslow when I saw all of these people standing on a footbridge....So I whipped out my Ixus...Oooer missus!!! and got a short video. Learnt one thing though. Don't stand right above the steamer you tend not to see alot.
This is an absolutely brilliant video. SO well edited and lovely to see such well done footage of other people out to see Tornado. Just a shame that sometimes people can be so selfish when it comes to getting their own shot. But in spite of that a really brilliant video, thank you for sharing!
I like the scene setting with the washing on the line, etc. Lucky to get a nice unobstructed view of departure. You should have said something to the fat bird, though.
I also note the graffiti on the 450 at 1:40. I feel that SWT's standards are slipping.
How is that possible?? I am still in disbelief on how that actually happened. Thank God for You Tube because moments like these would never get exposure. haha!
5* i think lots of people in the way is going to problem with Tornado but lots of intrest will keep steam going .Though i would have been mad too.have to find remote places with Tornado .
Nice film, well edited, kept it interesting. As for that woman, a good example of the kind who don't look before pulling out when driving or pushing a supermarket trolly!
Excellent stuff all things considered! My favourite haunts were all so well populated I didnt even bother to film - I bet there were more shots taken of the back of people's heads than at a Glastonbury Festival. As for the 'lady' in the striped pants - off like a rocket before the train had even passed - you do wonder what she'll do with her pic...let's hope she sees yours. Thanks for posting.

This locomotive is absolutely amazing. The only thing missing is an SP 6-chime whistle on it. Don't get me wrong, its current whistle sounds great.
fafnir242 2 years ago
dont you mean whistles, its got 2
branchlinedisaster 2 years ago
It does?
fafnir242 2 years ago
Yep, a chime whistle behind the left smoke deflector, and it's standard one where the whistle is normally!!
