Great perspectives of Austria´s remote corner of beautiful, unspoiled nature in the Waldviertel, Lower Austria. Always inspiring for rare movie-content.
The diesel is mostly for heating, during the season May - end of October trains of this length on this line get pulled only by steamer. The line is also much longer than seen here and has more steep sections up to the terminal Groß Gerungs. Another reason for the diesel was the quick changing of directions at Weitra, so they don't need any shunting movements.
Wonderful angle placements, and patience with each shot. I am a true fan of your work, and love this form of escapism. The winter in China video was my favorite, but this one is close to taking that rank away.

At 2:09 a question please..I see the stone cross. Was this a place of an accident in the past?

Hi,
No, these are just wayside crosses "Marterln", you find them everywhere in the countryside of catholic Austria.

Hi,
No, Austrian 760 mm gauge, there is just one short bit of metre gauge in Austria, all other narrow gauge lines are 760 mm.

What a pre-Christmas treat!
Why the diesel loco? Is it an insurance policy or is it actually doing some banking?
