it's not that having a bov is wrong per say but i want you to realize that every manufactured turbo vehicle already comes with a bypass valve which recirculates back into the intake so there's no waste. Unless these rides are pushing out 500+hp with 24 psi at minimum its not necessary. Also keep in mind that bov on a lightly tuned motor actually can at times run counter productive by making it run rich and unsteady rpm.

I know everything you guys have been talking about....i got a tune about two months later..."SkunkyZ420" You are wrong....a tune like this with just turbo back is only good for about 280is whp and 300 trq....i put 274whp and 298 trq to the wheels after my tune and ran a 12.8 at Sacramento...GST Motorsports tuned it.....and theres nothing wrong with having a bov on stock vehicle..its not needed but is a cool upgrade...still..STi rocks!!!

Stock BOV can handle up to 20psi so you don't need a new BOV unless you are pushing more than 20psi. Keep in mind that some aftermarket BOVs require a little tuning.

I had a friend who ran the APS reccir BOV and a short ram intake. Then, he took these off, put the stock bpv and intake back on and gained 20 horsepower on the mustang dyno.

cute BOV. the stock blow off valve is efficient up to 400 or so whp, with a crushed in dome. i know it sounds cool, but its not the greatest for your engine. you got flamed ALOT here for this and im just throwing more wood on the fire. the maf in subarus case is BEFORE the turbo, and the engine is expecting the same amount of air that the maf read, but when the VTA blow off valve releases the intake air, the ecu has already injected too much fuel and it runs very rich.

A Turbo subaru already has a stock BPV, which RECIRCULATES the air pressure, this can work up to 20lbs of boost. If you use a BOV, it releases are into the atmosphere, and it interpheres with the censors and makes the car run RICH. It can mess up some internals. PLEASE, read up then talk kid.

Anyways, stock BPV (by pass valve) is only good for up to 20psi, after that it becomes inefficient.

However, there are Dual Port BOVs out there (50% atm/50% recirc). So, in some cases just because you hear "pshhh" doesn't mean it's fully atmospheric (that's what I have on my WRX).
