  • when i saw this when I was 12, i decided i would do this someday. I will find the highland trails and run about. im going to Nottingham to study abroad, im sure I will find time to visit these mountains.

  • @magua4 Braveheart was filmed in Scotland though..

  • @magua4 sorry, meant it wasnt** filmed in Scotland

    it was filmed in Ireland.

  • @Englishpatriot2010 braveheart was filmed in scotland and ireland, some of the battle scenes were filmed in ireland but the scenes in the movie and in this video were filmed in Glen Coe, Glen Nevis and the Mamore mountains all of which are in scotland. so @magua is right in saying they are the highland trails :)

  • @Englishpatriot2010 actually, the opening sequence and a few other scenes are filmed in Scotland, i think only the highland parts though. most of the movie was filmed in Ireland including all of the battles and most castles. htt p : / /ww w.imdb.com/title/tt0112573/locations

  • @Englishpatriot2010 ah you're right. some of the battle scenes were filmed in Ireland. my bad.

  • @MICKYMAVYT if im correct a lot of it was filmed in ireland although it's easy for me to pick the ones filmed in ireland and the ones filmed in scotland (im just that good i guess lol) this looks like it was filmed in scotland.

  • Hi,

Does anyone know the name of the mountain on which Mel Gibson is running during this short clip of "Braveheart"? I've been to the Scottish Highlands several times, but would love to know exactly where these clips were filmed.

  • @lovetheUKgirl hey, the film was shot in Scotland and Ireland. The Scottish scenes were filmed in and around Glen Coe, Glen Nevis and the Mamore mountains. I hoped i helped

  • @PCHSfootball93 Thank you for replying! I actually knew that the movie was filmed in Scotland and Ireland, but was trying to ascertain the name of the mountain on which Mel Gibson is standing at the end of the short clip in this youtube video. I'm starting to think it's near Glen Coe or Glen Nevis as you suggested, but will also check out the Mamore mountain range. Thanks again!

  • Right at the beginning I almost expect the Boondock Saints music to start up lol.

  • sehr geiles vid! vorallem der schlusspunkt is wirklich gut gesetzt!!!

  • GO WILLIAM GO!!!

  • O My God SCOTLAND Looks Beautiful :)

  • outlawed tunes on outlawed pipes

  • and this didnt win oscar.......epic fail for academy

  • @jdoghockey19

DID IT NOT? OMFG! GET YER PITCHFORKS LADS, WE'RE GOING TO HOLLYWOOD!!

  • @jdoghockey19 The Academy isn't about who deserves the Oscar.. it's about who's "paid their dues enough to win one". I think that's becoming more and more evident in recent years. I don't even watch the Oscars anymore. I remember when the Academy intentionally snubbed LOTR 1 and 2 and then gave them a sweep on the 3rd movie. It's like.. why snub them if they are deserving? It's like the Academy is trying to be fair to the films that don't measure up. Doesn't that defeat the purpose? Blah

  • @piratebri every LOTR movie should of one, because they are the best soundtracks ever!!! i agree

  • @piratebri i totally agree with you this is what music truly is in its most sublime form and pure and pristine without any kind of embellishment and truly brings peace to the soul

  • @jdoghockey19 Actually, Braveheart won 5 Oscars and was nominated for 10 overall.

  • @blend1100 for the score...

  • @jdoghockey19 Ah. Apologies.

  • @jdoghockey19 It won 5 Oscars including best film and best director.

  • @jdoghockey19 en(DOT)wikipedia(DOT)org/wiki/Academy_Award_for_Best_Picture#1990s

    Look at '95...sorry, bro.

  • @TheBourneAirsofter he's refering to the ost, not the movie

  • One of the best movie scores in history! Scottich bagpipes are awesome and James Horner is the man! Great film, awesome music!

  • It was Irish Uillian pipes used in the film. The bagpipes wern't invented during Braveheart's period.

  • false, maybe not Uillean pipes or great highland but there were various kinds of bagpipes in the middle east, where they actually originated.

  • The píob mhór, an Irish pipe has been in noted use for at least 500 years. I wouldn't think it foolish to believe that they in turn evolved from even earlier versions of the pipe in the region.

On a seperate note, "originates" impies that the Irish were influenced by Middle Eastern pipes. I'm interested, care to expand?

  • I Love this film thanks

  • Best pipe piece I've heard yet. Awesome.

  • me encanta esta escena

  • Does anyone know, where I can find the music notes for bagpipe?

    Would be great =)

  • Amazing

  • Ha, yeah....played on irish pipes (because Gibson thought the Great highland Bagpipes were too 'harsh').....talk about compromise and hollywood sanitisation. About as Scottish as Pop Corn.

  • Fuck em, i am American and sick of hearing pop music, REGGAYTON, hip hop and that punk rock stuff. Flutes, violins, acoustics, harps, bagpipes mixed with celtic, scottish, irish songs are the best. I guess i am just clueless why societies music sucks balls.

  • you're right

  • I have to agree with you my friend, society's music sucks.

  • @newjersey02 Because good music isn't on the popular tv shows and radio stations. Ever notice why there's like 30 stations playing the same dribble, yet only 1-2 playing classical music, and maybe 3-4 playing jazzy stuff? I wonder what the country would be like if the majority of people listened to classical/instrumental music instead of Lady Gaga and Lil'Wayne. We'd probably be in better shape.

  • @newjersey02 gosh can't agree more with you! this sound is great

  • @newjersey02 i'm agreed with u!

  • @newjersey02 I'm guessing you've never heard of Litefoot.

  • @newjersey02 im from Scotland & your right our music is super b, brother, spread the word.

  • @newjersey02: Probably because of people like the ones on Jersey Shore.

Seriously, keep your opinion to yourself. Listen to what you like, no one else really cares.

  • @chinopisces Shut up you cunt. He was being respectful.

  • my scottish friend likes bagpipes and reggae. umadbro?

  • no... great bagpipes as we know them did not exist in Scottish society at that time. Scots did not use great pipes (especially for war) until after an encounter with the Irish in the mid 16th century when they realised how effective they were at scaring the crap out of you.

Before everyone jumps on the bandwagon I did not say they did'nt have pipes I said that the sound of the Ir ish pipes would have been closer to the sound that existed at that time in 1297.

  • Uilleann Pipes do sound better....you can't play Highlands with an orchestra, they'd drown them out completely! Highland were meant for war, Uilleanns were meant for bonfire get togethers. =)

  • Err, i do play highlands with an orchestra and get nowhere close to drowning them out.

  • Bah, what does Gibson know, he's an Aussie.

  • This music gives me so much energy.

  • 1 of the most stunning scenes in the film

  • Hi all,

i'm actually searching a music sheet for this tune, the part played on bagpipes.

I'd like to play it on violin.

Does anybody have a hint ?

A link or the title of book where it for sure appear ?

Ps - I know google's my friend but 'till know he's as lost as me on that topic.

  • It sounds like A or H to me,try the H-circle for guitar and you should get some chords from that, after it,well,it's all about you.

  • Its played on the Uillian Pipes, Irish Pipes.

  • What a great video, and the visuals certainly match the music!!! That distinctly Scottish tune certainly inspires and mesmerizes like no other, as it enables me to fully transcend any evil and despair that may permeate certain aspects of my life. Actually I often go through this brief metamorphosis that further fuels my free spirited nature while driving me to fever pitch! It's the ultimate form of medication, and it works wonders!!! We need to find this way to resurrect Wallace! Taylor A.!

  • Haha well said.

  • Great editing!

  • Beautiful Irish Countryside

  • Brilliant tune,even better scenery

Makes ye proud to be Scottish!

  • Wonderful

  • badasssssssssss

  • Love this.

Absolutely gives me shivers just to listen to it.

  • when mornay and lochlan (the scots with horses) cleared off at Falkirk because Longshanks bribed them, did they know that Wallace or one of his friends wud come looking for them and get them?

  • gives me the shivers

  • Mel gives it the BEST !!!

  • i love this song

  • FOr me the bagpipes are the only instrument that can lift the spirit of soldiers and those who fight for something in general! My God, how can you lose your courage with this kind of music. When you hear it you get back up on your feet and just keep on going forth! 5/5

  • They're not bagpipes, they're Uilleann pipes.

  • Sorry for my noob post! I am from Cyprus so i dont know how you call it!

    Sorry! ;)

  • No problem! I play them is all so I get all het up when they don't get the recognition they deserve!

  • could we PLEASE PLEASE get the original movie clip in here? music itself doesn't cut it. there were cut scenes with lines in there, really really great lines. they really really weld nicely into the theme.

"william wallace killed 50 men, 50"

    "a hundred men"

"cute them through, like moses through the red sea" @ music starting climax.

  • wow i had the shivers

  • proud of my scottish heritage

  • what a mountains =)

  • reminds me of alaska. good movie, good song.
