Excellent driving - sorry riding - but why on the wrong side of the road. Just kidding. Great bike. Enjoyed this and your other vids a lot. Btw: On public roads your are fast enough on a Harley if it is a well tuned Sportster. And much too fast if you want to. Ride save.
Great vid, really enjoyed it. I have a Tiger 1050, but would love to add the Speed Triple to the stable. For what it's worth, I have passed the Advanced Motorcycle Test and have 17 years experience riding, and would say that your riding is smooth and controlled. You were always in the appropriate gear for maximum torque vs. engine braking, and let's face it, who wouldn't dent the speed limit a bit on a bike like that, with quiet dry country roads, and good visibility. Nice bike "Driving" LOL!
You need to get a clue which gear is best for which driving situation. And stop speeding within city limits. You're giving a example of how not to drive here.
Yes you're right, you've shown me the error of my ways. I am going to sell my Triumph and buy a BMW and ride (you ride bikes not drive them) everywhere in top gear at 5MPH below the speed limit dressed head to toe in high visibility fluorescent green clothes.
If that's not safe enough for you let me know and I'll stop riding bikes altogether and buy a nice Volvo estate, an automatic one then I'll not make the mistake of using the wrong gear.
Driving in general is more dangerous the faster you drive. I cannot imagine that you fail to see the logic behind that.
Now, the difference is this: when you drive on your own and only risk your own health -- that's perfectly alright. However, if you are within range of other people you should behave responsibly.
If that does not sound feasable to you, yeah, the Volvo is the way to go.
So what bike do you ride then, (again you RIDE bikes not DRIVE them). Because it doesn't sound like you have ever been on one.
There is no logic in saying that the faster you drive the more dangerous it is, if that were true then motorways would be the most dangerous roads off all, when in fact they are the safest.
Why don't you make a video and show everyone how we should all ride, I'm sure we would all like to see how an expert does it.
At what point am I putting anyone else at risk, I'm not even putting myself at risk as I am riding well within the limits of my riding ability, my bikes ability and the road conditions. When I ride I am concentrating 100% on riding, nothing else. Most accidents are not caused by speed but by people not concentrating on their driving.
Actually you do 'drive' motorcycles unless the term 'motorcycle driver' would be inappropriate, which it is not. I've had a GSF-600 and a ZX6-R for a couple of years. The logic is simply this: the faster you go, the longer the braking distance. On a motorway you rarely overspeed compared to the other cars. Still, if you do, the track is usually very open. You won't get much surprises.
That is completely different inside city limits. Overspeeding there is what causes most crashs.
My point is, you should know which gear you use at which speed to be as constant in your driving as possible. In doing so you make as little room for mistakes as possible. A frantic way of driving (not saying this is one) is always inadequate.
For example, instead of constantly switching gears, accelerating and braking, the driver in this vid could have just picked 5th gear and kept the speed. There were plenty of chances to go faster outside the city, I'm sure.
The term 'motorcycle driver' is inappropriate, would you drive a horse? No you ride it, is that so difficult to understand?
I don't know what the cities are like where you live but the roads I was riding fast on are country roads, you can tell that by the trees and empty fields by the side of the road. If you ride a ZX6-R in top gear everywhere then you are wasting a good bike you might as well sell it and buy a Harley or a scooter, much safer as they can't go very fast.
So you've been riding a couple of years, I've been riding 27 years, including a few years racing and 4 years as a motorcycle courier riding all over the country doing about 50,000miles a year.
The reason you change gear on a bike is to be in the correct gear for your speed, if you are in too high a gear you can't accelerate properly and have no engine braking, any experienced rider will tell you that. My bike is a 1050, in 5th gear at 3,000rpm it is doing over 50mph and has no engine braking.
Looks like your bike drives you -- while you only ride it. Fair enough, I reckoned as much.
The place I live is near the alps, everything south of here is basically a bike fun-park, we've got very demanding tracks. So, yes, I know how to drive a sports bike.
What I was talking about exclusively is your driving style inside city limits, which, frankly, does not give a good example.
Anyhow, if you won't take advice, nevermind my comments, just thought a heads-up would be in order.
No, I won't be taking your advice especially the part about riding everywhere in 5th gear.
I'm still waiting for you to post a video of you RIDING to show everyone how it should be done. Go on give us all the benefit of your vast experience, should be worth it just to see a ZX6-R in top gear at 30mph.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Good lord you ARE ignorant, huh?
Just don't speed inside city limits, drive constant and far-sighted. Why would you reason against that? No big loss if you refrain from accelerating when you will have to brake again in a few seconds anyway: and that's what it's always like in city limits.
Well, I've said what I wanted to say, might just leave the rest to your capacity for reasoning.
I ride my bike for enjoyment you could call it fun but I doubt you've heard of that word. What's the point of riding a bike at a constant speed never accelerating or braking, riding like that would be as boring as reading all the arrogant self important ill informed rubbish that you keep writing.
If you don't like my videos don't watch them.

If you're driving a station wagon (estate in the UK), then sure. But this is a SPORT machine. Shifting is fun AND important and has NOTHING to do with safety or possibility for mistakes. NOTHING!
You CLEARLY don't ride motorcycles or have the foggiest idea about riding (not driving) them.
This video was for a sporting jaunt on the bike, not a commute. Why in the FUCK would he record that?
thank you very much for the sound and video,i owned a triple but was so stupid to sell it,that was a big mistake,it was a 2000 year model, when over 2 years my car is payed then the triple comes back and will stay with me forever.very good ride mate!
