Well IMO it is the best shooter game out there because in comparison with other games of this genre you have to think twice before you act . This is one of those simulators where each little mistake can bring you even near to death . Just saiyng ^^

I still play this. This game is simply UNREAL!!! Unlike these stupid other games, i can complete the mission any freaking way i want. Endless tactic possibilities, and unlike cod, this game is not EXACTLY the same every time i play it. Enemies dont have pre defined routes (after they spot you)

Incredible campaign(s), but co-op and mods made this game awesome as well. I got it years ago but never really realized how amazing it was til several months ago. A guy named Rob Sanders made a whole campaign of his own called Tour of Warfare (yes, it can be co-op up to I believe 16 players for certain missions) and it is just amazing. Search for it in Google and you'll find it.

I remember seeing a very early advertisement for this game in 1998 in Boot magazine and it was a two page spread featuring a screenshot of the game as it was back then.

I don't believe it had the working name Operation Flashpoint... but I do remember desperately looking for the game at the time, believing it to be at the time, the greatest game I would ever play.

It wasn't until 2001 that I remembered that advert, and yes OFP revolutionized tactical wargaming.

I was even singing to it. I'm not Russian nor communist but you can't deny, the Russian Army Choir is best ever.

OFP was a masterpiece in the video game history. It was ahead of it's time and by far the best military simulation ever made and if you look at all the new generation military games it will probably never be surpassed in terms of war atmosphere, realism and emotions.

I still remember that times when I played OFP for the first time. One of the most memorable moments was when you left alone in deep Everon forrests and all over the place there was only Russians. All men from your squad was dead and NATO forces fell back to Malden. That hopeless war atmosphere was perfect. For me, Operation Flashpoint is GAME NUMBER ONE in my TOP list.

Yes, it's awesome. Just make sure to download the latest patch (1.18 i think). There's a LOT of mods to all the arma games on armaholic (just search for armaholic on google). It's really an amazing game :D

That's 3 GB. Some limit their OS to 3 GB so they could play, but I'm using 2.28 GB out of 6 just for browsing (and 100 other things) atm. Can't limit it :|

Operation Flashpoint is the best mil sim ever made but if youre used to playing high end graphic games its just impossible to go back and play ofp again. the problem is opf2 is a fucking peace of crap. and i didnt hear much good stuff bout arma 1 either.

i got arma 2 know and im pretty sure every real ofp fan will have some fun with it. the story and the atmosphere are a bit better in the first one, but the visuel stuff is just incredible in arma 2. check it out =)

@julian111993 I agree, OPF2 was a pile of crap, trying to cater for the mainstream. ArmA 1 was great, the only problem was the optimisation and bugs. But most of those got patched up though. You should check out the graphics on Operation Arrowhead! They're pretty incredible! But I completely agree when you say OPF had a particular atmosphere, it's hard to explain, but it makes me nostalgia and wanna play it when I see it :)

YES, you cant run all graphics in maximum with the visibility range more than 2 km or your PC that support modern warfare 2 with all max graphics will just launch the blue screen of death, thsi game is so unestable.....arma and arma 2 are to, but in the computer this couldnt run all in max the arma worked with all in min graphics

nop, in the preferences make everything lower or high is a fucking bigger difference, in the terrain detail they just make more mountains in the earth, and make you need 5 times more computer, the best option, make everything high, use very low terrain detail, and put visibility on 5 km

The trailer is cheesy because it was 2000. Try this game, you will understand what a hardcore simulation is. And once you hear the ingame music, the awe starts. This is the grandfather of simulation games, and most certainly the best simulation game there is.

@klye256 many ppl still plays OFP multi:) we have servers for cooperate games (with many mods), also servers for c&h, mini bf, ctfs, cti and more. Just look around by game spy, but remember: u need OFP resistance 1.96 to play online.
