Good video and music. As I understand, the video communicates agreements on some things between people and oil companies. Great efforts to communicate this, Chevron.
Personally, I think this ad was poorly executed. The other spots I saw in this campaign are far better organized, but when I first saw this ad on TV I thought that it was a debate between two sides; the way that the two individuals seem to be cutting into each other's silence seems kind of rude, so when they see eye-to-eye in the end it's rather confusing.
On a less serious note, if you could hire "Chevron Geophysicist Karl Marx" to appear in more of these, you'd probably have greater success.
Most annoying commercial on TV right now. INSTANT mute. I mean come on, are we supposed to listen to what some teacher thinks of the oil industry? Really? Not only that.. but the worried look on her face and the tone of her voice is a total turn off.
@Athenesword14 The scary part is.. she really IS a teacher.. lol someone on another site looked her up, she is a 3rd grade teacher. I forget her real name now, but someone posted it on this video in here somewhere.
@Iridium242 Seriously? That's just sad. That pretty much settles it though. I've got a blog and was trying to decide on a award of absolute worst commercial of the year. It was between this one, another Chevron ad, and two Conoco-Phillips ads. But since this woman really is a teacher, and probably spends a good amount of time indoctrinating innocent third-graders, this ad has to win hands down. Thanks for the info, dude.
@Iridium242 I don't know if it's the most annoying, but its sure right up there with the labor thug, also a Chevron ad, and the Conoco-Phillips ad with the wrinkled old hippies at the farmers market.
OIL COMPANIES Are COOL, Gas Price Fluctuate because of False Speculation is Right for Gas Prices, Oil Man Bush signing laws allowing 24/7 365 Oil Trading on MYMEX on False Speculation back in 2001 is the Correct Law, Oil Prices at the pump increasing 300% under Oil-Bush is Justified! Chevron naming their oil tanker the USS Condoleezza Rice is Right! Brainwashed Right Wing Idiots!
Why do advertisers have to make such dumbed-down, condescending commercials? They really must think we're all gullible and stupid. I hate this ad and I mute it the instant it I hear it on TV. The little Asian muppet woman is very annoying. Real people don't talk like this.
@candeeo1 : commercials are designed to get peoples attention. They got yours long enough for you to get online, look up their commercial, listen to the "annoying asian muppet" and comment. HAH!! what do you want, a dissertation. Its a positive message and easily digestable. BTW the asian is hot. Your just a hater.
@Mouseclicker77 I don't pay attention to commercials so I can get turned on sexually and if you do then there's something wrong with you. If viewers hit the mute button and go online to complain about the commercial then something is wrong with it. Muppet-babe is totally annoying and based on the other comments I'm not the only one who thinks so.
@candeeo1 I don't pay attention to commercials to get turned on sexually-so there is nothing wrong with me(based on your statement). However, visit any magazine stand and attractive women appear on the covers of both male and female magazines. Whatever the content it draws peoples attention. Candeo, you seem intelligent but don't understand marketing.Company and Asianmuppet aside, Do you not support the message of alternative energy?(wind, solar, algae)(burning dung was not mentioned)
@Mouseclicker77 So in other words since she's hot, that makes what she spews legitimate. So if she insisted people should go back to burning dried cattle feces for heat, you'd agree with her.
@skillz1855 I agree, Chevron and other companies like Conoco-Phillips should be ashamed of themselves for kissing up to and promoting green energy in such a blatant attempt to play up to Global Climate Change hysteria.
You all don't know this, based on the video, but we don't agree. You might have convinced that dumb graphic designer. I am a graphic Designer. You probably paid an actor. So, Keep on destroying the earth. We can't stop you. Not yet. Enjoy it while it lasts.
Definitely the most annoying of a series of annoying commercials. The woman's voice is like finger nails on a chalkboard to my ears, and her over-acted facial expressions are just annoying. I actually sought this video out because I keep hearing it on the radio and wanted to know if the annoying-voiced woman looked as lame as she sounds; she's not, she's actually pretty cute. I can't wait until Chevron dumps this stupid campaign.
Now corporations are thinking about society ? Damn. First destroy the environment by exploiting it and polluting it and then spend peanuts to get brownie points and improve reputation. Great idea..
Yay Chevron. Market the shit out of this commercial to make it look like you are not a oil, coal, and natural gas company. Notice he said millions. For Chevron, that probably means $2 million investment in renewable energy -- sounds like chump change for Chevron. Try tens of hundreds of BILLIONS! That would gain my attention.
@unchronological Millions would be throwing money down the sewer, what makes you think they would, or more importantly, should, spend billions on some hipster green energy boondoggle? Don't look now Chicken Little but the sky is NOT falling.
I am complaining also about other companies making profit regard the costs they are making on environment and peoples lives. Making money is part of the game is a lousy excuse to have low morals and continue exploiting. I'm so sick of people expecting rewards for their reckless, immoral and irresponsible actions. You khrystallina are just a good example of the infantile workings of the mind of business and free markets.
Also, work is outsourced because the projects are overseas because we are not allowed to drill here anymore. It is cheaper for us to buy the product closer to the actual project because lead times are shorter and shipping is cheaper. I was a buyer on a few projects and the goal is to buy American but cost do have to be cut regardless of what we want. You may think this is bad but in the long run the cheaper the cost the cheaper the oil. It is all relative. Another point I'd like to make is that
First off, it's a business, making money is part of the game! You are not complaining about other type of companies making profits. Big bad oil employs families all over the country. Whether you like it or not it effects every single one of you in some way shape or form. Yes, we need to find alternate sources of energy but so far oil is the only one that is as cheap and environmentally friendly as oil is... And I know it's not that clean but it's the cleanest!
@wewereangels No doubt. She needs to stick to what she knows, like teaching 2nd graders how to read, and not try to lecture people about subjects that are way over her head.
@Toddhimself Hi - Thanks for the comment. We're glad you like the music! The track, "Tazmania" featured in the current We Agree TV ads was composed, arranged and produced by Mark Foster at Mophonics Studios in Venice, CA.
What tools (these fake propaganda pieces called actors). Anyone who buys this stuff is truly uninformed. Chevron outsources, rips off the American public, and does everything you wouldn't want an American company to do.
The 2005 Energy bill exempted Natural gas & oil companies from the clean air act, clean water act, the superfund law & about a dozen other democratic and environmental regulations under Subtitle B
Biofuel? I hope they don't mean biodiesel, as that's still going to be a major contributor to greenhouse gas emissions. And I hope the "solar" isn't just sticking biodiesel-producing algae out in the sun as a part of the production process. Gosh, would THAT be embarrassing to leak to the public! :D
@himuratiger Algae biofuel is a carbon neutral biofuel. It can solve two concerns: Climate change and peak oil. How? An algae facility can be co-located by a co2 intensive facility and via photosynthesis (how plants grow using water, light, and co2) makes a cleaner burning fuel. Remember, algae fuel emits no sulfur and less co2. That takes care of climate change. Additionally, algae can be engineered to replace petroleum in every type of engine. Give Chevron some credit for investing in algae.
@thekeving91 They'll investigate everything. I'm sure they've thoroughly investigated wind and solar too, and the financials come back every time showing that oil, coal, and natural gas has a higher net present value. Chevron, like 99.9% of corporations is ran by money, not social and environmental morals.
These ads are falsely claims. You people have sucked billions from us, and yet you still get a tax-break of a few billion from us. I can tell who buys the idiots of Washington and partially owns it.
They don't release the names because that way you can't trace to see if she is even a real teacher! This commercial was made in Thailand like all the others they do. They try to BUY your "sympathy" for the trillions in profits they make each year !
@Chevron Of course you don't release their names, they're just actors. You also do not pay your fines, like the $8 Billion fine for screwing up the Amazon. "we agree.... to destroy the Earth".
How is anyone supposed to believe that a for profit corporation is going to profit off a virtually unlimited resource (the sun)? Alternative energy can only be financed and brought into fruition by an organization representing the people as a whole, not by you selfish bloodsuckers.
why dont you mention nuclear power or shale oil or coal? Politics!
The u.s. has substantial reserves of all three (among world leaders in reserves). We only lack the environmental will to develop them due to pollution concerns
We can support our people by developing new energy resources which are economically feasible here at home, not pipe-fueled eco-dreams. Either that or we cut our population dramatically through voluntary means, war or famine to "save the planet" lol take your pick.
how about supplying some free renewable energy sources for the people of Ecuador whose supply has been pillaged and their environment ruined? That'd make a pretty great PR ad also!
Global Warming is LIE!!!GREEN PEACE EARTH FIRST LOVERS!!!And keep note If any Oil Company Drills any where in the US it brings JOB,JOBS,JOBS.And Alaska small village would expand.Any were you green peace people go you destroy good jobs.I welcome any big OIL COMPANY IN MY COMMUNITY.And We had GLOBAL COOLING GLOBAL HEATING GLOBAL CHANGE.You GREEN PEOPLE CAN't make up you mind's.

Years from now, history will look back on the people associated with these commercials and ridicule them, their surviving relatives, and neighbors. Forcing them to release some statement or the other claiming to have done it only for the money to support a sick or dying family member.
my god...it seems so ironic. Below me lies a vast listing of discontents, felt abuses, lives taken advantage of, and all account on commercials like this they get milled out by power-cash-houses like Chevron, the biggest liars on earth to feed the biggest country.
You scum buckets at Chevron, and especially you advertising and marketing specialists (how vital you are to all of this), will discover the power of the American people soon. The plot is up. The commercials only work for so long.
@tont760 I buy Arco whenever possible. They get oil from the North Slope of Alaska and avoid foreign oil. It has been about 3 years since I bought Chevron gasoline.
@mwilli60 Thanks very much. We really appreciate hearing that! The people representing Chevron are employees of Chevron. The people who are identified with a profession or occupation (e.g. teacher, small business owner, contractor, student and professor) are identified this way because it's what they do for work.
@Chevron I AM FROM BAKERSFIELD CA.IT USED BE A DRILL CITY WHY IS OUR GASOLINE PRICE AT $4.00 A GALLON.WE ARE PAYING PAIN AT THE PUMP.WE AGREE SPEAK FOR YOUR SELF.And stock you green environment adds.GREEN PEACE AND ELF HATES YOU GUYS.DRILL HERE DRILL NOW PAYLESS AT THE PUMP.ARE YOU GETTING RESOURCES Local or FOREIGN.I DON'T LIKE SUPPORT Saudis,Hugo Chavez,Gaddafi.
do you think we're stupid? you are not fooling anyone with this ad campaign. we know what chevron is. what % of your HUGE record breaking profits do you put into this kind of thing? how does it compare to what your top executives make? chevron is a filthy rich company in a filthy destructive polluting and irresponsible industry. this propaganda campaign is insulting
I just saw this ad on TV and it made me feel sick! Stop lying chevron if you really want to make a big impression do something that the public sees and benefits from not sugar coated ads.
Belive it or not Free energy is real,But some very powerfull ppl don't want you and me to be free from energy costs,Get a motor that needs no gas or electric input at LT-MAGNET-MOTORdotCOM ,Be a part of the energy revolution!
Seriously, Chevron? I mean, I see what you're doing here. Certainly more "realistic" (SUPERFICIALLY) than the last campaign with groovy Chevron hot shots against a white backdrop. Ack. But drowing out the "real people" while you try to illustrate that "you think just like us?" OK, here's what I think: you make BILLIONS of dollars in PROFIT at our and our planet's expense and have us in a strangle-hold because of your near monopoly. And your response would be...?
1st: Talking over the woman is a BAD IDEA. Listen first.
2nd: I like the ads, but please tell us exactly how much effort Chevron is putting into renewables like solar and wind. I suspect, like the woman says, it is not enough, and not quick enough.
@nhprman We are investing in profitable renewable & energy efficiency solutions. Eg, we are the world’s largest geothermal producer & we operate one of the largest efficiency companies in the US. We are working to develop advanced nonfood biofuels that are affordable & sustainable at a scale large enough to make a difference. Chevron Energy Solutions is the largest installer of solar for U.S. educational institutions. (Please see Energy Sources on our website for more info).
@Chevron So why are Chevron still refusing to pay for cleanups of massive oil spills they caused 20 years ago, even though they have been found guilty by the courts?
Chevron are corrupt. Do not be fooled by their miss-information campaigns.
@nhprman ...almost nothing... Chevron are still refusing to pay for cleanups of massive oil spills they caused 20 years ago. Even though they have been found guilty by the courts.
* In Washington, Chevron spends millions each year lobbying Congress to make sure we don't get a cap-and-trade bill, or anything else that might harm their profit margins.
* In the Arctic, it wants to drill for oil even though knowing such operations would be risky and hard to clean up.
* It's also one of the chief sources of funding for disinformation about the causes of global warming.
* In California, Chevron spent $4.1 million lobbying legislators to change regulations so it can refine a dirtier grade of oil at its facility in Richmond without conducting any environmental review on what the change would mean for the low-income community surrounding it.
@pezpequeno Richmond Refinery refinery spilled catacarbs when we were doing a job there during a shutdown. We worked in the contaminated area for 2 weeks before they cordoned it off. It affected my memory and there is nothing I can do about it. That was 20 years ago. I hate the Chevron commercials and the music.
Good video and music. As I understand, the video communicates agreements on some things between people and oil companies. Great efforts to communicate this, Chevron.

my god...it seems so ironic.

Probably the best energy commercial I have ever seen. Believable people, but are they real or actors?
mwilli60 11 months ago
@mwilli60 Thanks very much. We really appreciate hearing that! The people representing Chevron are employees of Chevron. The people who are identified with a profession or occupation (e.g. teacher, small business owner, contractor, student and professor) are identified this way because it's what they do for work.

Thanks!
nhprman 1 year ago 2

* In Washington, Chevron spends millions each year lobbying Congress to make sure we don't get a cap-and-trade bill, or anything else that might harm their profit margins.
* In the Arctic, it wants to drill for oil even though knowing such operations would be risky and hard to clean up.
* It's also one of the chief sources of funding for disinformation about the causes of global warming.
pezpequeno 1 year ago 29
* In California, Chevron spent $4.1 million lobbying legislators to change regulations so it can refine a dirtier grade of oil at its facility in Richmond without conducting any environmental review on what the change would mean for the low-income community surrounding it.
pezpequeno 1 year ago 35
@pezpequeno Richmond Refinery refinery spilled catacarbs when we were doing a job there during a shutdown. We worked in the contaminated area for 2 weeks before they cordoned it off. It affected my memory and there is nothing I can do about it. That was 20 years ago. I hate the Chevron commercials and the music.
We don't agree at all.
