I fucking love this part of the movie, I grew up on The Wizzards. Does anyone know if they put it on DVD? The VHS I have has burned out from age and use.
it's been WAY too long since I saw this film. But then again, last time I saw it, I was bored with it. But I was in jr high at that time, don't blame me.
This is my favorite part of the movie <3 I have become a fan of randomly running around screaming, "THEY'VE KILLED FRITZ! THEY'VE KILLED FRITZ! THOSE LOUSY STINKIN' YELLOW FAIRIES! THEY'VE KILLED FRITZ!"
It's actually quite fun, you should try it sometime! xD anyway, great movie, great scene, great inside joke that I didn't know about till now =P
It's talking about Fritz the cat, cos R.crumb who created Fritz, killed him off in the comics after Baski made the Fritz the Cat movie. Apparently he didnt like it
Wow, I didn't know about that. I've to admit that now this scene make more sense, 'cause it looked very random (but a lot funny) when I saw the movie.
google "they killed fritz" follow the IMDb link: "Fritz the cat - movie connections" it's all There: 'Bakshi is quoted as saying, "I named the character Fritz, in Wizards, just so I could scream 'They killed Fritz!' '
@underDAhood95 I personally think R. Crumb was being just a teensy bit uptight about it. On the one hand I can understand the feeling an artist gets, handing over 'his baby' to another to reinterpret........ But on the other hand, when you let some other artist work with your ideas you have to accept that they won't come out unchanged.
I know and it reminds me of a similar thing that happened when Hayao Miyazaki's masterpiece Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind got released in the US in 1985 from New World Pictures under the title "Warriors of the Wind" and it was butchered from 117 minutes to 87 minutes and having character names changed for Americans and some of the story to be changed, it upset Miyazaki so much he walked out of a screening in tears and made a "No cuts" policy from on since then.
Poor Fritz!

Even so called "evil" people can have loss.
I doubt he was really evil, he was probabbly born into that life, and had no choice.
Now Blackwolf, he was a dick!
