It's a safe bet when Kennedy died, 90% of Americans were saying 'Richard Nixon has just won the election'. It's the same thing a friend of Jane Fonda said to her when Triple H was giving his acceptance speech in Chicago.
It would be close between him and Nixon, and Nixon being Republican had the edge. Nevertheless nothing would have stopped Bobby from getting the presidency that Carter eventually won in 76. A future president by any measure, and a bloody good one at that!! RIP
@e6d6d6yheartagram Kennedy was shot five minutes past midnight on June 5th and survived for nearly 26 hours. He underwent surgery at Good Samaritan Hospital but was pronounced dead at 1:44 am on June 6th.
It is even more heartbreaking if you see the clip of Frank Mankiewiecz standing at the podium before he makes the announcement. He is trying so hard to keep it together, to compose himself, to do his job, but you can tell he is absolutely shattered. It's all so sad.
What always gets me in the end is that when you see the whole video (the one that goes on for like 40 min, and chronicles the whole ordeal and the waiting/anxiety) is that you still root for him and hope he'll somehow make it through, even though you already know the answer.
if bobby would have gotten the nomination and he would have had to get it away from humphery at the convention(now its on to chicago and lets win there) nixon would have dropped out he would have lost to a kennedy again that would have been worth the price of admission
bobby would have won easily to complete his brothers term
Disagree, Nixon would nver have dropped out. You're forgetting about Wallace- he might have dropped out and supported Nixon- Kennedy would not have won had that happened. 1968 was not RFK's turn- he probably would have not gotten the nomination. But there was always, 72 and 76. He certainly would have been a contender if he had lived.
We hurt to this day. We lost so much of credibility and sanity as a nation with Jack and Bobby's deaths. Great talent will, I believe, always fear threats to life if they seek political office in the way Jack and Bobby Kennedy did.
JFK died june 6th & 42 yrs old - weird & a coincidence - by june =6th month- 6th day & 42yrs- 4+2= 6 i no its far fetched , but what do u think?

Is the white haired man (not with glasses) that comes into the frame at 0:52 George Smathers?

Tragic that he was killed. As for him vs Nixon- Nixon would have won hands down. Alot of historians researched this and came to the same conclusion.

Sad day in American history.
Makes you wonder if he would have won the election that year had he lived.

An utter tragedy. He might not have even got the nomination in 1968, but he probably would have and then prevented Nixon winning.

A terrible loss for this nation. The wound remains.

You've said it perfectly. It's almost forty-one years, and the wound is still there.
