I see I got a negative rating for saying that this recipe called for too much salt, but I still feel that way. I'm sure that this cornbread recipe would be good, but I would simply omit the salt.
@sisterphumi ....... Hope you have found your buttermilk by now, but if not, you can make your own by using regular milk and 1 tablespoon of lemon juice or vinegar .... 1 tblspn lemon juice with enough milk to make it one full cup, let it sit about 10 minutes and it will give you the same results as buttermilk
@sisterphumi Yes it is cows milk, it's very thick & creamy compared to regular milk. I think it's the liquid left after churning butter but I'm not sure. It is great for baking, most people don't drink it but I like it.
I went to homebaking . org, and couldn't find it. I just re-ran this vid and had my word app opened and typed in the recipe as you recited. Thanks for the wonderful recipe. I will be making this but using kosher salt instead and using less of it too. Getting older man, gotta watch the salt.
I would not put 1 1/2 teaspoons of salt in a cornbread. That is too much. In fact, I usually do not add any salt to a corn bread. But if you like them a little salty, I would put in 1/2 teaspoon, not 1 1/2.
Thank you very much for posting your video on corn bread. I followed a different recipe which make the mistake of requiring 1/4 cup of baking soda. Needless to say the end result was not very good. You recipe was very good. Mike
Today I made myself some cornbread while watching this and I say thank you very much! It was fantastic!
