@Ballbuster319 why would they do that? They're making a shit ton of money from it, and where else would you watch videos? Vimeo? come on.. Yeah it sucks but they aren't going to stop making money just because you don't like it.
There is an Australian outfielder in the Colorado Rockies farm system who has thrown 390ft and 101 mph (measured on radar gun out of the hand) off a crow hop. Seriously. He is currently the only Australian player with the Rockies. David Kandilas 20 years old. The same guy who signed Vlad, Fred Ferreira, was his agent. True.
Its not 370 feet you cocksuckers.. its more like 300 feet because he obviously didnt throw it from homeplate. if he were able to throw that far he would be a pitcher even though he hits bombs.
@david2coolforu how does being able to throw far make you a pitcher? Pitching isn't about how far you can throw. I used to pitch in school. I was a good pitcher and threw hard, but I couldn't throw I guy out at home from the field. I had a friend that could throw at least 300 feet and he couldn't pitch at all.
@david2coolforu how does being able to throw far make you a pitcher? Pitching isn't about how far you can throw. I pitched in school. I was a good pitcher and threw hard, but I couldn't throw I guy out at home from the outfield. I had a friend that could throw at least 300 feet and he couldn't pitch at all. Also, it 385 in right center. He threw the ball at least 20-25 feet past the wall. It may not be 370, but it's close to 370 then 300. Never said theis on a post but ur the cocksucker
@7nen7pinky7 Usually, guys who can throw this far, if able to replicated the arm speed into a pitching motion, can throw extremely hard because pitchers do "long toss" to increase arm strength.
Why do you think a lot of pitchers also play outfield, especially while their developing?
@7nen7pinky7 Also, he's partially right, because this was thrown from the foul line, which means it was probably a fairly straight throw. It's 385 in right center, but that's measured at an angle from home plate. Angles are further than a straight line. You'd have to measure the distance from the foul line to the wall but I'm making an educated guess it's closer to 300, like he said, although he was rude.
@7nen7pinky7 Actually, I just realized, a simple way to do this is to get the distance to the right field foul pole. It's 314, and since Yankee stadium is a fairly traditional semi-circle you can pretty much assume it actually tapers inwards where he threw the ball by a few feet. This was probably like 320 feet. Still very impressive.
@ajlepisto if he threw it on a straight line this can be figured out using the pythagorean theorum. if a^2 + b^2 = c^2 if "a" is the distance he threw it, "b" is the distance from home plate from where he threw it, and "c" is the distance from home plate to where the ball ended up. we can then say that a^2 =c^2 -b^2. see next comment
@ajlepisto i think it is safe to say from home plate the ball ended up about 390 ft away (c) and from the look of where he is on the field it seems he is about 33 ft past third base (123 ft away from home plate, b).
doing the math a^2= 152,100-15,129 then a^2=136,971 the square root of 136,971 is 370.9. sorry for nerding out i just wanted to know for myself so i did the math :-)
@backwardsben Ya that's accurate, but that's assuming the outfield wall is the same distance all the way across...it doesn't take into account the fact that the wall in right center is actually curving towards the left field foul line. Without being able to measure exactly where it begins to break from parallel to the left field foul pole, it's all guessing.
You are right though, if the wall was straight, that would be the way to measure the distance.
@ajlepisto it has nothing to do with the wall. home plate, the point where vlad threw it and the point where the ball landed form a right triangle. we know that the ball ended up about 390 ft. from home plate not from where he threw it. so 390 is the hypotenuse of the right triangle. vlad threw it from about 123 ft. away from home plate. so 123 is one leg of the triangle. search google for a pythagorean theorum calculator and put it in yourself.
@backwardsben I will admit, it's been 10 years since I sat in math class and I don't remember how to work that formula well enough to argue about it.
I am curious though, I know you did it right, but what values did you use for the distance from the foul line to the outfield wall? Did you use 314 ft, as I mentioned? Or did you use another value? It doesn't make sense to me, because it's 385 from home to right center, yet you say it's 390 from left foul line to where it landed.
@ajlepisto sorry i didn't see this before i replied again. i didn't use any value from the foul line to the outfield wall...i used the estimated distance from home plate the ball ended up (the hypothnuse, ~390 ft) and the estimated distance from home plate that he was when he threw the ball (one of the legs of the right triangle, ~123 ft) and plugged them into the pythagorean theorum formula to find the distance from where he threw it to where it ended up. 370 ft was the answer not a guess.
@backwardsben I misspoke, I meant to ask what you used for home to the right center wall. I think I wrote foul line instead.
370 makes sense. At first I was confused at the 390, because that wouldn't be a right angled triangle. However, the ball obviously flies past the wall, so it's pretty obvious that's where you got the extra 20 feet from.
I was just confused at first because the numbers I thought you were using wouldn't make up a triangle, lol. Good one, I'll agree with that logic.
@ajlepisto And what I meant about the wall is, it would throw off the length of the longest angle on the triangle, since the wall is curving. It's not necessarily 385 all the way across like if it was a straight wall. That's what I was trying to say. Since the only confirmed point on the wall is the 385 spot and the wall is curving, it's basically a guess to see where it went over the wall and what the actual measurement is from home to that point, which changes the outcome a little.
I used to ,when I was in my mid 20's till mid 30's throw a softball 275 (from the fence) to home on the fly.How I developed my strength when I was a kid of 10 yrs old and older was trying to throw the ball from a standing position ,as high as I could straight up in the air, that increases back ,shoulder, and leg strength.2nd,your body must be crotched down a litle bit and find the cross seems of the ball. Also too, practice throwing a basketball the length of a court.I couldnt throw a football long
@frank123612 Try to throw a football with a partner every day. Throw as hard as you can while maintaining the most control. Don't just fling the ball wildly. Then, go to a park and try to throw a football as far as you can like Vlad did in this video. Keep track of your improvement by using cones spaced about 25 feet apart. For your front foot, make sure your toes are pointed toward your target and not the sides.
Repeat with a basebell - it'll feel like a feather.
Bc he's old when he came up with the expos there wasn't a better RF arm in the game and he could flat rake.. he's a first ballot hall of famer no doubt
@NYerintransit Yeah he did, he was horrible in the postseason. his entire second half of the season was pretty weak. Still loved watchin him play though, Go Rangers.
@NYerintransit Yeah he does, or did. Only played a handful of games in the OF last season. Hes just not very mobile anymore, had a couple crucial fielding errors in the WS. Cant see him gettin much OF time with the O's either with Markakis Jones and Scott. I wish him the best this year though, really great guy and leader.
@guitaryoungster you are dumb I can tell by this comment you are not a baseball player or an athlete of any kind. Look at his career stats and say he sucks
.320 avg. 436 HR. 2,427 Hits 1,433 RBIs in 14 years yea he really sucks
@MrJordanchad007 Yes, and even though you were trying to prove your point, there is no reason why you should say mean things to him. You should say sorry.
@guitaryoungster you make me laugh, Vladimir was a 5 tool player and it's very hard to find baseball players who is purely complete. He's a first ballot hall of famer, right up there with Frank Thomas, Jeff Bagwell, Albert Belle, and Albert Pujols
@molonlave2010 None of those players you mentioned were 5 tool players ever. Even Pujols isnt a 5 tool. Vlad WAS a 5 tool player. He even STOLE 40 bases one year "also came 1 HR shy of a 40-40 season that year." Vlads back screwed him. He is going to go down as a GREAT player. But had his back not done what it did.. He would have gone down as one of the very best.
best throw from him i remember wa when they were playing the dodgers in montreal and gary sheffield was on 1st base ,and tried to score on a line drive to double to right. VLad fielded it and from right in front of the warning track threw a bb all the way to home plate on no bounce and had gary by like 10 feet , he stopped and let catcher tag him. It was amazing
vlad is one of the best talents baseball has ever seen, i had the pleasure to see him play in montreal and couple times at turner field in atlanta. I dont consider sports athletes hero but if i had to choose one other than michael jordan it would be this guy, i have been watching him play since 1997 and i hardly ever miss an at bat. He is the real deal and will be welcomed to cooperstown with open arms. (wearing an expos hat ofcourse)
ichiro may have a gun but vladi has a cannon arm if you not believe men watch vlad with the expos when he send the ball from center field right to home and fusillade a player there
The thing i loved most about Vlad was that he had the ability to hit the ball out no matter if the ball was over the plate or at his eyes. he had the bat speed and strength to do about everything. I wish that he was still playin ball the way he was in 2002 and 2003. Those were the good years.
Vlad will always be an Expo/National. He played 8 seasons with the Expos and 6 with the Angels. He had much better numbers in every category with Montreal than he did with the Angels.
my friend can do the same thing. hes a pitcher at my high school. he can throw about 93 mph. its 395 to our center field and he can throw from the first base bag all the way over the center field wall.
Defenition for vlad:Fucken amazing this guy dosent have the speed and not his ol cannon any more i mean dont get me wrong he still got an arm but not wat it used to be. But this guy can flat out hit hopes he resigns for the 2010-2011 season Go Halos
This guy is so amazing. I friggin hate to see him declining over the past two years; he was so good on the field. I loved watching him throw the ball and field, now he's just batting, but he still is an amazing batter. God I hope the Angels don't get rid of him, that'll be so bad. Go Angels!!!!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
vlad is an old washed up oaf!!! im watching this fool right now in the 13th inning against the yankees and this oaf has had to have stranded 7 or 8 base runners then runs like a dopey oaf to first base after grounding out with a man on 2nd and 3rd this fucking guy and as i speak yankees get a leadoff single angels suck and vlads an oaf! phils 09
Whwn the Angels were in Cincinnati I went down and stood behind Vlad while he warmed up . (he is not above showing off ) Now I know what my Dad was talking about describing Clemente . He had twice the arm of any one on the field except maybe Homer Bailey , the Reds young pitcher that day .
He had monster numbers when he played with the Expos, but these numbers decreased after he signed with the Angels after 6-7 years in the Expos organisation. Maybe it's a sign of the baseball gods... :P
lol okay okay...i agree calling a fucking moron was a lil to harsh... :P ...but look...Ichiro has a great arm as well...really close to the strength of Vladdy"s...but if you havent noticed Vladdy's home run numbers have been going down a lil bit, yea that can be injuries...but if he was juicing he would have at least 17-20 homers now...like the other guy said...A-rod is a juicer, Jason Giambi is a juicer, David Ortiz isa juicer...Vladdy isnt..
i hate that today u have to queston great players, are they great or are they on the juice..
anyway..i wouldnt be suprised if ichiro was on the juice as well..
sounds crazy i know, he is only 170 pounds, but he was 124 pounds when he was drafted, and steroids/hgh arent "illegal" in japan, like they are in the united states..
he peobably isnt on them, but it wouldnt shock me..
roberto clemente was only 170 pounds, and we know he didnt juice, and he had a fricken cannon in right field..
not to burst your bubble but they are dropping names in the balco investigation you can read the mitchell report..and yes if his name pops up in the "mitchell report" I will buy you a mansion with a ferrari
i saw vlad throw out a guy at the plate at pac belle...from deep right field...it was a laser

ichiro may have a gun but vladi has a cannon arm if you not believe men watch vlad with the expos when he send the ball from center field right to home and fusillade a player there

@AngelsfanDS Vlad's always going to be an Expo, nothing else.
sh00nmeister 1 year ago
The thing i loved most about Vlad was that he had the ability to hit the ball out no matter if the ball was over the plate or at his eyes. he had the bat speed and strength to do about everything. I wish that he was still playin ball the way he was in 2002 and 2003. Those were the good years.
rudard2 1 year ago
@rudard2 he's on pace for another 2003-like season,so no worries (:

Vlad will always be an Expo/National. He played 8 seasons with the Expos and 6 with the Angels. He had much better numbers in every category with Montreal than he did with the Angels.

peyton manning cud throw this far, no sense of this bein on youtube
slapshot68 1 year ago
@slapshot68 Yeah but Peyton Manning can't hit 400 home runs.
chikmagnet565 1 year ago
@slapshot68 so Peyton manning can throw a football 123 yards? your a dumbass.
football players throw with a completely different arm action anyway, so even if he were to throw a baseball it wouldn't even come close to this

@pitchingtowin
no you havent, not on the fly.
cymaddux31 1 year ago
you're right. i used to throw it out of my high school field. it was 315 down the line. so i guess it was further than 315. my fault.
pitchingtowin 1 year ago
Sure you did, on the hop(s). You sure as hell did not on the fly.
cymaddux31 1 year ago
Its possible. I know a kid on my highschool team who can do the same thing. but he throws it over left field which is 305 with a taller fence.

AngelsFan4Lif3 2 years ago
This guy is so amazing. I friggin hate to see him declining over the past two years; he was so good on the field. I loved watching him throw the ball and field, now he's just batting, but he still is an amazing batter. God I hope the Angels don't get rid of him, that'll be so bad. Go Angels!!!!

vlad is an old washed up oaf!!! im watching this fool right now in the 13th inning against the yankees and this oaf has had to have stranded 7 or 8 base runners then runs like a dopey oaf to first base after grounding out with a man on 2nd and 3rd this fucking guy and as i speak yankees get a leadoff single angels suck and vlads an oaf! phils 09

bachaka61 2 years ago
Whwn the Angels were in Cincinnati I went down and stood behind Vlad while he warmed up . (he is not above showing off ) Now I know what my Dad was talking about describing Clemente . He had twice the arm of any one on the field except maybe Homer Bailey , the Reds young pitcher that day .

His Arm is strong as fuck.
SDSOverfiend 2 years ago
He had monster numbers when he played with the Expos, but these numbers decreased after he signed with the Angels after 6-7 years in the Expos organisation. Maybe it's a sign of the baseball gods... :P
bachaka61 2 years ago
no way thats 370 the wall was 385 and he threw from behind the infield. nasty arm tho. he shoulda just stood at home and thrown it over the fence

vlad=total juicer
bettydaw1970 2 years ago
he's not a pussy like a-rod, or manny. I think you have him confused
kok150 2 years ago
youre a fucking moron...vladdy doesnt juice hes legit and has the strongest arm in all of baseball..so fuck u
LAKNYG323 2 years ago 3
you are 100% sure vlady dosent juice?
i mean you may be right, we cant be certain, but there are so may red flags statistically, visibly, physically, and demographically..
if his name pops up in the mitchell report,
(they have been dropping name every few months)
you come back here an apologize for calling me a fucking moron?
bettydaw1970 2 years ago
lol okay okay...i agree calling a fucking moron was a lil to harsh...
LAKNYG323 2 years ago 2
i hate that today u have to queston great players, are they great or are they on the juice..
anyway..i wouldnt be suprised if ichiro was on the juice as well..
sounds crazy i know, he is only 170 pounds, but he was 124 pounds when he was drafted, and steroids/hgh arent "illegal" in japan, like they are in the united states..
he peobably isnt on them, but it wouldnt shock me..
roberto clemente was only 170 pounds, and we know he didnt juice, and he had a fricken cannon in right field..
bettydaw1970 2 years ago 4
not to burst your bubble but they are dropping names in the balco investigation you can read the mitchell report..and yes if his name pops up in the "mitchell report" I will buy you a mansion with a ferrari
