  • I had a similar conversation with my father five minutes ago. He said he wouldn't sleep tonight because he's ashamed of me, he said I would be wrong and didn't listen to me arguing about the sense of life.

He was ashamed when I declared my intention to leave, to leave the church and all these superficial words of my father behind.

He accused me saying all that would matter to me was money, when he has no clue that I'm fighting here to find the true sense of life, why we are on earth. What matt

  • Callie's right, here. Very powerful scene.

  • This made me cry. ><

  • I think she wasn't supossed to let her voice crack that much at the end but she went so into character that they kept it in lol this is such a powerful scene! I love it!

  • does any know if this is Christan or catholic or both?

  • @mrmusicmagic123 it's both, recited from the Bible

  • i watch this every month lols XD

  • yes, yes, YES!!! love this scene, go Callie! "You can't pray away the gay!"

  • I love this scene. I think it rings true for so many gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered people and for Grey's Anatomy to tackle a subject so powerfully is absolutly incredible! As for bibical teachings it says that it's o.k. to kill a man if he performs homosexual acts yet one of the 10 commandments says "thou shalt not kill"? I think this is probably the mother of all contradictions that's supposed to be "flawless"?

  • Haha you go Callie!!!!! Christians need to realize they are NOT GOD!

  • @foxz74 I couldn't have put it better myself!

  • cuando vi este capitulo, me emocione como expresaban estas palabras, no soy religioso, pero apoyo a todo ser humano que pretenda ser Feliz no acosta de los demas

  • i love callie!

  • YOU CAN'T PRAY AWAY THE GAY!!!

  • Mom, this is from a show that I love. About a doctor that realizes she's a lesbian, and her dad didn't take it so well. THis hit home with me, though at one time you both excepted, though under duress my being a lesbian. Watch the clip all the way through, and see if you can get dad to watch it as well. Tish

  • @TheTParry she's not a lesbian. she's bisexual.

  • I'm so glad you posted. I agree, this was definitely one of those more powerful scenes in Grey's Anatomy. When I first saw this, I got the chills.

  • Im christian and I love this scene. Its flippin awesome that she memorized all those scriptures and its a great wake up call to these certain "christians" who judge and perscute people.

  • @trevor11092005 I totally agree with you! God loves gays!

  • This was my favorite scene by far. The fact that she quotes back to him the words that he would use against her makes it all the more mesmerizing.

  • You are soo right! Besides Cristina Yang's breakdown in season 3's finale, this is the most amazing and moving scene in Grey's.

  • I just watched this episode a few hours ago and I have a feeling that when it comes time to have this conversation, I'll be luckier w/ my parents who won't try to "Pray the Gay Away." Too bad there are so many others less fortunate to have more open-minded parents...I love this episode and Sara Ramirez is amazing! Great choice for a love interest getting together with Arizona. Hopefully G.A. will carry this couple all the way to the marriage and kids...AWESOME EPISODE!

  • this made me cry. im not a real hardcore grey's fan. but this was awesome.

  • OMG loved this scene. Sara Ramirez is so brilliant on this show and it's a shame she doesn't get more screen time. Brilliant acting from both her and Hector Elizondo

  • Christians can make mistakes too. And God sent His Son to help us all, because we're human and can't do it ourselves. - Even the intolerant. And not all Christians take it upon themselves to judge others.

    - Don't generalize.

  • im not a christian, but this is one of my favorite scene, brimmed with intense justification (in positive connotation) mingled with conviction. terrific!

  • Mr. Torres: So you admit it's a sin?

Callie: Blessed are the merciful for they shall obtain mercy! Jesus: blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God! Jesus: blessed are those who have been persecuted for righteousness sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven! Jesus is my savior daddy, not you! And Jesus would be ashamed of you for judging me! He would be ashamed of you for turning your back on me. He would be ashamed.

  • I just caught up with the last four episodes of Grey's on my DVR and I was blown away by this scene. I was hoping someone caught this and uploaded, lo and behold, here it is. A must-see for all Americans who feel there is an insidious gay agenda or just plain ignorant, as they often forget the hypocrisy that exists in the text that they hold so dear to them.

  • right on brother! (or sister)
