  • This is 1955. October 22nd

  • Definitely during the 50's;TV match most likely. Before Blassie bleached his hair....

  • Fantastic!!! Feel free to post more of these!! Thanks!

  • I would peg this in the mid 50s, no later....

  • Was that "Mean" Gene Okerlund behind the Mic?

  • nooo why is not full show...i wanna see this vid until end

  • So this must have been before CWC?

  • from cwc to wwe how the times hav changed even tho wrestlin died in 2002

  • good match

  • WOW THAT'S SOME WILD STUFF, MY GUESS 54, THIS IS LIKE THE BEGINNING OF TV AS WELL.......WOW

  • was blassie taping out in the arm hold. shit did look pretty painful.

  • Very early 50"s at the old Hollywood Legion Stadium. KTTV channel 11. Your ring announcer is Bill Welsh, a mainstay at channel 11 for years. "Chief" Jules Strongbow later would be the matchmaker at the Olympic Auditorium when wrestling went to channel 5 KTLA. He did the locker room interviews with Dick Lane. Great stuff! Thanks!

  • Fred Blassie was Southern Heavyweight Champion in Georgia several times in the late 1950s.

  • This is probably from the early 1950s?

    Freddie still has black hair.

  • Was the ref related to Count Billy Varga?

  • Wow! Fred Blassie before he became "The Hollywood Fashion Plate" "Classy" Freddie Blassie

  • May 18,1953...

  • Fred Blassie guest starred on THE DICK VAN DYKE SHOW in 1961. Rosemarie looks a lot younger in this clip, and so does Blassie. Rosemarie's hairstyle looks like the late 1940s, I would guess.

  • The woman yelling at Red Berry was Rose Marie? From the Dick Van Dyke Show?

  • Comment removed

  • Wild Redberry is my great great great uncle.I'm not kidding its true.Someday I hope to work somehow with pro wrestling without being a wrestler because I'm scrawny.

  • Try eating Wheaties.

  • No. I have an addiction to Cheerios.

  • Not a bad addiction.

  • Howd that work out?

  • I don't necessarily know too much. I know he was on my grandfather's side of the family.

  • no matter you weight or size you can still become a wrestler i know heaps of wrestlers that are scrawny

  • wild red berry....gorilla monsoon's future manager.

  • Blassie was the "King of Men"

look up his profile on myspace

  • Looks like Red is having a bad hair day.

  • Blassie has brown hair. So it must be around mid 1950s. Hr bleached is hair blonde after this and became the most hated heels in wrestling.

  • that is real wrestling, not like today

  • What a classic. Thank you, some of the great wrestling matches from Hollywood Legion Stadium.

  • Google search says it may be May 18, 1953.

  • Where's the ending?

  • This is wrestling before I was born. Really great to see how it was in back then when life was simpler.

  • freddie blassie in his prime, really cool clip, thanks for posting it

  • This is from 1952.

  • 5 stars! This is the type of match that justifies the term "classic", and its one of the best. Thanks to you for posting!

  • Two legends who have rarely been seen -- in their primes -- on line. Thank you for finding and posting it.

  • My head is exploding. I haven't even watched it but 5 stars. More!! More!!!
