  • i live in uk with a us ps3, brang it over from canada, just bought a converter and plug it in and i had no problems so far knock on wood, 2 years happy peacve

  • hey well thank you for making this video... you help me out... but i have a question do i have get HDMI cable or i can use my yellow, red , white cable... the original PS3 cables to have the picture on my Russian TV?

  • Just to add my two cents, I too have a US PS3, and already burned out one power converter. Then I bought a new cable with an EU plug end, and can attest that the only thing that happened was I played my games for hours. There are zero problems so far. No need for a converter.

  • @texantenor That are the two most valuable cents out there, buddy. Thanks for sharing!

  • Hello, I hope youll read this, did you get your ps3 to work on that, or any tv in Europe?

  • @sonyshot91 Yes indeed : ) I am still in Spain and use my US PS3 every day.

Also, I buy games from the UK, France, Germany, USA, & Spain and all the games work perfectly well.

  • @Mitxelcalifornia ok thanx for the info :)

  • Most likely all Ps3's around the world have the same power supply in them (which is most likely a switching power supply) and can run on either 120 or 230v. That way sony can save money and use the same power supply inside each PS3 made around the world.

  • ALL PS3 R BIVOLT..IT WORKS AT 110 OR 220V WITHOUT PROBLEM.....

  • wht??? 0:31 " you gotta have to dress me allot baby" xD hahaha

  • wht??? 1:31 " you gotta dress me allot baby" xD

  • Will my UK PS3 work in Canada?

  • how can i get a 220v work on 120v =/?

  • @1337strvids

    i have a 220 volt ps3 and it's working fine with 120 volt

  • @qatifian nvm anyways i got a convertor

  • Every PS3 is bivolt. What is printed under the console is according to the region. For example: USA is 110v but works in 220v. They put that just because of the region. But really is bivolt!

  • your voice is awsome

  • Hi! Quick question, does it works with HDMi? or how are you playing? with hdmi or any converter(ntsc-pal)?? Thanks you

  • @adrianovanpuchi Yes, you are right adrianovanpuchi. I use an HDMI cable and it works perfectly well in Spain & USA.

  • hii,

i have the fat 80gb ps3 (CHECE06) which says on the back 220-240v 1.8A, 50-60hz. i have moved to USA from India. the voltage here is 110v. so can i plug in my ps3 without any power transformers???

i just wan to double check if the power supply is universal.

    please help

    thanks in advamce

  • @vamsiforever

I'm not sure my friend. I would probably buy a power converter and not risk it.

If you decide to go ahead and try it without the power converter, please let me know.

    Good luck and thanks!

  • im in the usa, you think if i take my ps3 slim to barcelona it would work with the plug you have????

  • @alejandro150893

Hey Alejandro, I wouldn't risk it. You can buy a cheap 120-220 volt converter here in Spain. You would also need to buy a Spanish cord because the socket is different. That's easily available in any hardware store here in SPain.

Also, you could take your PS3 to a technician like TheRussianGlory did (read his comment below) and have him check if you need it or not. I hope these helps

  • hi i have a few questions

do u still use the usa playstation store to buy buys and etc......because i think u cant use ur credit card or psn card if u are in a different region so what would u recommend and also i heard ps3 games are region free however that if u have a game thats bought in pal regions it wouldnt work if u buy the add-on in the usa playstation store so is this true and also what do u recommend if its true because i want to take my ps3 80gb with me and use my usa psn account too.

  • @HaystanHopar

    Hey HaystanHopar,

Yes, I still use my US PS3 in Europe. I have a US credit card that provides me access to the US PS Store (and I can purchase US games in Europe). I have access to the Store but, not to the movie rentals though.

Sony allows Blurays to be region. Developers are free to choose if they create games with regions or not. So, almost every physical game is region locked. When there is a main title I want to buy, I ship it to Spain directly from the US Amazon website.

  • @Mitxelcalifornia thanks for the fast reply buddy but when u use the credit card on psn it asks for the billing info and u cant change the country and do u get billed for that stuff bought in psn in spain or the us and also i want to take my ps3 80gb with 2 usb ports model No. CECHL01 bought in the us to armenia with me so do u think it will run perfectly and also should i get a converter or does my ps3 have a universal power supply inside but the ps3 label says 120v its just confessing me lol

  • @HaystanHopar I get billed in the US for my PS Store purchases.

In regards to your PS3 80gb with 2 usb ports, I'm not sure. I would take your PS3 to a technician and have him open it for you so, you get an expert confirmation. If you don't want to go through the hassle of opening it, do get a converter my friend.

I was crazy enough to try mine in Europe. The explosion would have made an excellent youtube video LOL

  • @Mitxelcalifornia lol thats funny but urs didnt blow up thank god the ps3 is a very expensive machine if it blowed up it would suck but it be a intersting video on youtube lol im so happy the ps3 has a region free power supply but i dont get why the heck sony's label on the us ps3s says 120v when it works in europe on 220v but anyway i wanted to tell u thank you very much for this video as it helped me alot and i will take ur advise thank u so much i also subed u and rated thumbs up:)

  • Anyone tested a 320GB - 120V - 2.1A - 60Hz on UK voltage ? Mine say it's only 120V... I read a people had sucesss.... but I'm afraid.

  • @TubeSpoker

Hey TubeSpoker, is your PS3 the slim version or the fat old one displayed on the video?

  • People don't have doubts about plugging 120v PS3 into 220v. I brought my 120v PS3 from Canada, plugged it in Ukraine worked fine, I just needed a different cable that would fit into the socket (2 rounds, not 2 flats and a round). We brought it to a technician prior to that, he opened it up and inside it said 120v-220v.

  • @TheRussianGlory u think if i take my ps3 slim to spain it would work fine as you say with the 2 round plug things???

  • @alejandro150893

Id suggest you take off the cover anyway, cuz I heard there are different version (120, 120-220, 120-240) depending when and where it was made. But then you lose your warranty. But yeh just buy another kettle lead cable there and you should be fine.

  • mine is ps3 100v-3.5A 50/60Hz Japanese model n can this ps3 be used in Mlaysia where the voltage is 240v. Heard its gonna be fine.

  • use a coltage converter u dumbass and u might have region problem for the ps3 to connect with non-HD tv,

if u had HD TV WITH HDMI cable, then all would be fine

  • @DoomaceIsHere Hey DoomacelsHere, the PS3 worked perfectly fine right after the video. We played Modern Warfare 2 for hours! I had a non-HD tv back in California, and you have to press the Start button for five seconds to reconfigure the settings. The main point is that with very old PS3s you don't need a voltage converter because the device had it inside already. I'm still in Spain and use my US PS3 every day. Peace

  • @Mitxelcalifornia damn for my case i have to use a voltage converter but its all good though

  • its "giga" not "higa"

  • No problem. Enjoy!

  • heeeeeeey , thank for posting, it was really helpful:) btw love Spain:)
