That is a a lie or an ignorant statement. Granite is mined for urainum, anything over 80 ppm is profitable for processing at todays prices. Some granite has thousands of parts per million of radioactive elements present.
And slogoves, we sell granite that is under 20 to 25 uR/hr, but no one has ever been stupid enough to buy anything close to 20 or 25 uR/hr so far. Most want the lowest level granite we can find, 12 to 13 including background at 7 uR/hr (5 to 6 uR/hr).
I take it just because something glows under a blacklight makes it radioactive. I hope my cat doesnt pee in my house!!!!! I know it glows under a blacklight. And if granite is radioactive and/or is a radon hazard, the showroom to our company would be in deep trouble, oh wait, we had that tested, and it was below the acceptable range. SORRY.
You are right, cat pee does glow with the blacklight. It is the biological components, so some of this glow could be the bacterial colonies growing inside the granite. But, the radiation levels are the strongest in the glowing areas.

Uranocircite flouresces, Torbernite does not.
Christobalit (a quartz compound) does fluoresce,
but is not active.

This slab's fluorescent minerals turned out to be autunite mixed with uranium.
Look knuckle heads, the granite glows exactly where the slab is the hottest. It has been checked grid by grid.

Granite has something like 10ppm of uranium. There isn't any visible amounts in it.

That statement is wrong, most of the uranium mined comes from pegmatite granites.
Some granite countertops have been found in consumer homes at 270 ppm and above.
You are confusing geological granite with what is sold as "granite" in the countertop industry.
