this version is so errily fascinating that i really cant find the words to describe how amazing this truly is.... this version has so much emtion behind it, i men dont get me wrong, the music itself is amazing but with the ACV (Advent Children Voices) this is a score i'm more than willing to drop everything for and let the wind blow through my shirt with... you know, before meteor hits and Sephiroth does his happy dance on top of a sky scraper in New York... that kinda thing

Quick rundown: The arpeggio (a crude form of it) was in FF 1, 2 and 3. FF4, 5 and 6 had the full song but only 7 had the same harmonies that are featured in this performance. You can hear in the SNES games that there is the basic melody and string accompaniment but FF7 was the most evolved form of the Prelude - that's why this is listed as the FFVII Prelude. Subsequent Preludes (8 and on) haven't even sounded anything like this. I really like the addition of the choir. Awesome.

Yes of course this is the Final Fantasy VII prelude because there are no other Final Fantasy games other than VII. The other games couldn't have possibly had a prelude theme because they don't exist. Seriously, Final Fantasy III, IV, VI, and X, all of them are great games. It's just too bad they don't exist.

The orchestrations of the Prelude vary HUGELY from game to game. In my opinion, the FFVII version of the Prelude is the pinnacle of its greatness - it hasn't emerged in a complete form since that game.

Beautiful. Though I realize this was in a number of FF games, it makes me think of the depth and beauty of the experience that is playing FFVII. As the credits roll on the opening screen, this wonderful opening track only hints at the experience to come. Thanks very much for posting this. People, this is the FF prelude to like every FF game, they just added the choir to be cool(which it is) the song isn't limited to just FFVII(And this is coming from a FFVII Fanboy too)

No this is FF7's prelude. The original was composed for Final Fantasy 1, and it was simply the arpeggio progression if I remember correctly. The melody you hear the choir singing here was added in 7.

I'm no ff7 fanboy, infact I enjoyed 6 equally as much as 7, I've played them all. I don't recall ever hearing the melody in 6, although it has been a long time since I've played it. It's possible the melody was added in the re-release, since you mention the opening movie - there was no opening movie in the original. The only thing I remember is the arpeggio on the title screen, no melody.

There are different variations of the FInal Fantasy Prelude, but this one sounds like the FF7 version, using the voices in place of instruments. But ya, w/e.
