The 80's had THE best cop shows & films - this, Miami Vice, Rockliffes Babies (only English people will probably remember that one), Magnum PI, Lethal Wepaon. Its all bollocks these days!
The Closer, White Collar, Rizzoli and Isles, Bones, Leverage, The Mentalist, Without a Trace, Close to Home, CSI (NY, LA, etc), Cold Case, NCIS, Criminal Minds, Psych, Monk...
@lasse4eva Monk was funny in the beginning. Psych is funny, most of the CSI's are garbage. I've seen episodes of White Collar it's decent. The rest I haven't wasted my time with.
@Frankcis1980 except for Csi and criminal minds and Mentalist. Because while they use sophisticated up to date investigation techniques. They are still old school cops.

Do you suppose this show is appropriate for a tween (not a child, but not quite a teenager)? She's alright with mild language but not with anything else. The fighting is okay.

It would absolutely be ok, in my opinion. It was made for 1987 tv which means the censors were in much higher gear than they are now that's for sure.
