  • what were the temps in the room?

  • hi is this good enough to cool phenom II X4 @4ghz thank u

  • @Celltypewhatkind I'd say yes.

I have an X6 1055T @ 3.72Ghz and it's only reaching 36 degrees. 4Ghz should be an easy target, especially if you run two NF-P12s, which really doesn't make much difference to the noise. Very very quiet, very very cold.

  • @PrivateCustard thank you

  • Great video

  • Haha ... that's cool name, Trevor. My name is Trevor too, and I'm a techie! :) Cheers, mate!

  • Mine is running at 36 degrees celius on idle. Could I have not installed the thermal paste correctly? I used the line method. Your thoughts?

  • @Aldind2x mine is at 34 degrees Celsius on idle, and 64 100% cpu load on a i7 960 no oc, in a Silverstone fortress case

i have used 3 pastes, but makes no difference

the room temp is upstairs at 22c

I've tested a small drop of paste, and a full flat coving, still the same

it might be that some heat sinks are made bad, some are good

  • noctua works so flawless...

  • sweet vid! great work!

  • How cold was your room ????

  • 3:20 for results

  • What CPU did you use in this test?

  • Why does thermal have to be counted in the testing? aren't they all the same?

  • Is the Noctua also the quietest of the 3? And have you tested the NH-D14 yet?

  • @zyang21 oooooooooooooooh yeah!

  • Whats better Noctua NH-U12P or Mugen 2 ? HELP PLS! TY

  • I like the review. Very nice video. What was the song throughout the video that played when you showed the fans and CPU and parts?

  • It is an original song made in garage band.

  • I have that same cooler and I am idle at 45-50 with my i7 930 and I have tried applying many different compounds, many different ways. This thing runs hot but cooler then the stock heatsink, at 100% load.

  • 5+ very silent fan CPU

  • can u help me... when i install it my monitor wont turn on eveyrthing is plugged corerctly, but when i install back my original intel fan everything works fkc..

  • You got 5 stars !

  • great review. thanks for putting in the work. looks like noctua is the champ in a lot of these cooler tests! but expensive ...

  • Nice. I love Noctua. I want to change all the fans in my Corsair Obsidian 800D (When I get it) to Noctua fans. And have a Noctua CPU cooler.

  • did you have to clean the paste off each time you removed the fans?

  • yes, with a little experience it is much easier.

  • @TechieTrevor

bit late but yah, the first time i did it nearly gave myself a heart attack with trying to get it all perfect. But damn was it easy lol. practice makes perfect thanks

  • did you have to clean the paste off each time you removed the fans?

  • well ofcourse!

  • well, depends ur case design as well.............. EVEN with this, if you case design sucks balls won't do much good =/

  • nactua rullez

  • why only 1 fan on noctua?

  • because its the classic one , not the SE1366 or SE2 (both have two fans)

    I got the SE2 on my i7 860 @ 4ghz : 72° full load !!! (my vcore isn't optimized : 1,42 .... have to lower it :p )

Good testing ! this cooler absolutly worth its price ;)

  • @mangie222 cause it's not the SE2 version

  • @mangie222 You only get 1 fan when you buy it, to have another fan you have to supply your own. I have 2 fans on my MUX 120 Black, and didn't see much diffrence between 1 fan and 2.

  • i would have liked to compare the noises of the coolers, instead of that annoying bg music. The cooling performance isn't everything you know.

  • It's VERY quiet. About 20db at full tilt! About 13db on low fan speed.

  • Thanks a lot, it helped me to buy a Noctua.

  • my e8400 (Core2Duo 3,00 GhZ) runs with the Noctua idle 30 degree celcius! best cooler ever!

  • 38 max load?!?!?! are u kidding?! holy fuck I definitely buying this one for my AMD phenom II x4 965 Black edition cpu O: extreme over clocking!

  • WTF?!

    I got almost 80c with noctua nh-u12p SE2 and 3.0ghz clocks

over 70c with stock clocks ?!

what did i do wrong ?

  • not enough contact at the base? no thermal sauce? did you put your cum on your cpu instead of thermal sauce? the fans not operating at optimum speed?

  • its your case and where you live. or maybe you put too much or too little thermal compound. or bad heatsink sitting.

  • Comment removed

  • How did you do the 100% load test? Any program used to test it and for how long? I'm gonna buy one of those noctuas very soon.

  • I used Prime95 and ran each load test for 3 hours before reading temps.

  • Okey, thank you very much, gonna run it on my pc.

  • is important what temp you have in your room :)

and you don't write this.. :P

  • Sorry about that, I had thought that I had added the Room Temperature at the end of the video via annotation but I guess i didn't. It is now added at the end of the video with the rest of the temperatures.

  • The heatsink fan doesn't blow towards the case exhaust fan?

  • Yes actually, the air is being pulled through the fins and towards the back of the case where it is exasted.

  • for the people who are wondering why the Noctua has such low temps, its because it is a towermodel.

Cool air intake @ front, Hot air outtake @ the back.

The others are just spreading the heat over the rest of the mobo/parts.

  • that ruby sucks

  • The ruby orb is actually a very nice cooler for mild overclocking. I will be sure to use it in a future build. It's quiet, and cheap. But, i guess in comparison to the Noctua, It sucks.

  • I guess the room is also very cold.

  • Not too cold, regular room temp.

  • Saw the comment of 23c room temp, then the result is impossible. You cannot cool it under roomtemp with a aircooler.

When you got 21c, was it prehaps 21c over roomtemp? then the results seem more inline of what they should be.

  • i can cool it under the room temp ;) have 4noctua fans in a row 2 of them are push pule and the other 1 is at the back and 1 at the front of case and my room tems are 24-25 my cpu gos unter 22c ;) i tush over 350cubik of air under a min m8 ;) it cools down going thro the fins..

  • do you live in a cold place? i never get the low temps people report. its annoying.

  • see that u have good airflow in your case..

  • WOW!

    38ºC FULL??

    NO WAY!

I have to buy it xD

  • hey brother. that was very nice test. wich one is best ?

    Zalman CNPS9900 VS Noctua NH-U12P

  • noctua, EASILY

  • Pros of Noctua: Price, silence, ability to add more fans. lower temps (from what I have read).

Pros of Zalman: ease of installation, led lighting, vintage copper look.

  • oh...again...and it is at 3,0 ghz....

  • there may be problems with your overclock that have altered the temp. 1. set your cpu voltage to auto. 2. if temps are better and cpu is stable, leave it on auto, 3. if temps are better and cpu is unstable, change the voltage. 4. if cpu is stable but temps are not any better, reinstall the cpu cooler.

    thanks

  • thats a big no no setting voltage to auto. I hear it can pump your voltage up yo like 1.6

  • It depends on your motherboard, I would always read the manual before adjusting any bios settings.

  • oh...and allso q6600 processor

  • mine runs at 40-45 idle and load 62....its not lapped so how the hell is it so hot???

  • Noctua FTW^^. I have this Cooler, too.

    My q6600 running @ 3.2 ghz

    Idle:23°C

    Load:55°C

    This rockz

    Nice vid btw^^

  • wow 20 C cooler @ load than the ruby orb...

  • Where isn't tech cool? Good video though.

  • Nice.
