  • I cant believe this has one of the least views from the unplugged album, it is by far the best song on the album and imo one of the best songs of all time, listened to it countless times

  • layne makes it look so easy. alice in chains defines grunge.

  • It looks like it was everything Layne could do just to be on stage at this point. What's really weird is I think his voice sounds better than it ever did.

  • such a cool voice

  • This is the best men in a band. Alice in Change rockss!!!

  • @TheDarkside282 Epic Fail.

  • @BuccaneersBallad what talks about? Its the one best band.

  • something is gotta turn out right,,,

  • no band defines grunge like alice in chains

  • How can you even compare aic to nirvana? Totally different music all together.

  • Nirvana made good songs but. They were very simple. Coming from a guitar playing standpoint. Jerry Cantrell is and was a way better guitar player than Cobain. I don't think thats even an argument. Both were great song writers. Cobain like to use power chords and simple cheats of root chords alot in his playing. Jerry plays alot of traditional Bar chords along with some advanced techniques.

  • @FloJagged

ABSOLUTELY AGREE!!! Except I don't think Kurt was all THAT great of a song writer - he was very general & so people can interpret the lyrics anyway they want...I think that makes it seem better than it is. Layne & Jerry were WAY better song writers...but I still jam to Nevermind!

  • No the unplugged is better! Its funny but way back in the day I remember getting their cds in High School and years later when the unplugged came out 96 it seemed more natural of a sound. Now when I hear the studio versions Jerry's effects kinda sound foreign.

  • Is it just me or at 3:10 Layne and Cantrell mix up the lyrics? "Reach/Run" sounds like it comes out as "Rean"

  • @cch102693 I think its like that in the album version too. One of them says "reach for" and the other one says "run from"

  • Thumbs up if you think ALICE IN CHAINS is BAD ASS and always will be!

  • Like ur retort aweomesauce. Fuckn excatly!

  • ha. billy in chains

  • Addiction is a disease people...I have suffered from it for 20 fucking years...its like any other sickness...once you are sober for some time the symptoms are arrested...if you slip and use-even once...it unleashes the disease all over again...and a part of it is genetic...but WHO GIVES A FUCK...AIC is one of the best bands our generation will ever see...so lets all shut up and enjoy their music...

  • @dreaminofJerry You will beat it I feel it.

  • Is this the only vid on youtube of this song performed live with Layne?? Man. What a great fucking song.

  • This world would be a much more beautiful place if heroin never existed.

  • @InaGameComa without heroin you also have no medicinal pain killers and no morphine. Some people are just genetically wired to abuse some substance, any substance habitually. It just double sucks when it's someone who's touched millions of people. At least he's immortalized in this incredible form. He deserves that.

  • @johnover10 maybe a product of there environment/home life, but I don't believe that crap about people being genetically wired to abuse drugs, it comes down to will power, and the power of free will, we are not slaves to our mind's will, I'm not trying to bash on your comment, it just sounds like people use that as an excuse all to often, but layne was an awesome artist, he just made poor choices in life.

  • The dislikes must be from communists.

  • Phenomenal! Always reminds me of Clerks! RIP Layne! Miss you bro!

  • Two people's threadbare tapestries are unwinding slow.

  • everythings perfect, from the vocal harmony to the acoustic bass..

  • heroin will settle for suffering, then it will kill you.

thanks for everything you gave us still here suffering, Layne. RIP

  • Would I be wrong to say, the unplugged version is better than the studio?

  • @suckd2 I agree with you, so no it wouldn't be wrong :)

  • @suckd2 Layne was so fucked up on heroine at this time that he had to read the lyrics. Don't get me wrong, I love them to death and it kills me to see some one with such talent get taken from this world. Those inner demons are a bitch, but they inspired most of their songs.

  • @suckd2 Not at all.

  • @suckd2 Hell no, because I came here to say the exact same thing!

  • I love this song dude...

  • I agree - AIC, Nirvana, Pearl Jam and even Seether and Godsmack unplugged are amazing

  • @86akhilgupta Come on man, Seether and Godsmack are the least original bands on the planet. They bring NOTHING to the table.

  • @AwesomeSauceLimited What about le Jamming of the Pearl? Eddie Vedder is amazing. And Soundgarden is back together. And I don't think Mr. Cornell is capable of making crappy music.

  • @bejerama ...I didn't say anything against PJ or Soundgarden?:D

  • @AwesomeSauceLimited OHHH.... Oops! I though you said "last original bands" not "least." You can see where the confusion lies.

  • @bejerama Oh, no, quite the opposite :p

  • Buenisimo el tema

  • I miss you Layne.

  • i love unplugged<3

  • This song always grabs a hold of me, and screams VOCALS!!!! I live for this music, and nothing will ever compare to it. All the best music is fading away. Thanks for posting this brother! AIC forever \m/

  • 2 dislikes...fuck you

  • You, sugar taste

Sweetness doesn't often touch my face

    Stay if you please

You may not be here when I leave

I have no ink at all but I want this tattooed permanently on my body.

Alice In Chains has been my favorite band since I can remember.

  • AIC deliver a feeling of hope, no matter what situation. They can be a vehicle for self metamorphosis, no doubt, or at least a good way to turn your soul back into balance.

  • @ziribai In the song Nutshell the line "i fight this battle all alone" got me through so much.

  • @mattmanmkb thats great to hear :)

  • @ziribai Very well said. I agree 100%

  • brings tears to my eyes. much love and respect for AIC.

  • I bet Layne Staley and Kurt Cobain chill in the afterlife.

  • @DinosaurMike Andy Wood was there too :)

  • @DinosaurMike along with mike starr, jimi hendrix, elvis presley, kieth moon, and john bonham.

  • Awesome I miss this era so bad........ Layne your Mad Season's project got me through some rough times thanks buddy..... Rock world misses you and Kurt tremendously

  • @Tydo35 - agree 100% dude- i miss it too EVERY DAY god they must be happy now wish i was there w/ um- love to all AIC fans!

  • Layne and Jerry's voices are flawless. Pure Class

  • gavinadam you are one stupid idiot. I say this with respect.

  • This song always reminds me of the Fall weather in Chicago Land.Going out in the woods to smoke Dutch for the first time.lol

  • Is this the same place NIRVANA UNPLUGGED did there concert in New York??? The candles and lava lamps are starting to look vaguely familiar O_o?

  • Not a huge fan of music from this era, but AIC has got talent. Extremely underrated, too. I actually prefer most of the songs off the unplugged album over the studio versions, which said a lot about their in-concert quality. Good music.

  • >any of todays music

  • probably my fav AIC song

  • @danathor99 Look at him in 89, he was always skinny and sickly looking. Of course the drugs aged him over the years. He was always a very thin, pale looking guy. Point is, he could be

  • @sweatybowfin lol indeed like anyones gonna have a tan living in seattle

  • depressing as fuck...no wonder he died

  • Layne looks like he always did, which doesn't even matter because his voice is...well...no words can describe it. Jerry, Mike, Sean are still the shit and it's so hard not to hear layne's influence in their music to this day. Great vid, haven't seen it in years. Thanks!!!!

  • @sweatybowfin go look at a vid or pic of him in 93/94 compared to here in 96, it's shockingly different

  • I'll need to dedicate this song to my folks if I ever happen to make sports teams, beyond recreational level, meaning sports in general before I can't play anymore because of age (Father Time).

  • Not sure if alive, or just Chuck Testa...

  • Aww gotta love big Jerry

  • in my opnion one of the best unplugged ever

  • Somebody disliked this???

  • @blanchardsam Someone seriously got it wrong.

  • at first I thought it was Kurt sings with them Oo

  • @123damrod

Dude, Layne > Kurt in singing.

  • @Brutalyeah Yup.

  • !!! Nirvana and Alice In Chains are the best bands !!!

  • layne looks so sick

  • This and the Nirvana unplugged never gets old.

  • @king7392 It really doesn't. This album will go down as one of the best ever.

  • @mustbeburtreynolds fuck nirvana

  • @justagirl123431 Fuck your shitty, small-minded ignorance. If any one band is most responsible for killing '80s hair metal, it's Nirvana. No, they weren't the best musicians, or the most creative songwriters, but they were fucking ace at what they did.

    Have some respect.

  • @mustbeburtreynolds

I know this is completely unrelated, but...

I'll be damned if that isn't the best goddamn username on YouTube.

It...it just needed to be said.

  • @king7392 you forgot Pearl Jam

  • @king7392 amen to that

  • @king7392 PEARL JAM!!!!!!!!!! =D

  • This song saved me from suicide.

  • @SpongyLikeALizard uhhh thank Layne Jerry Mike and Sean good for you keep kicking my friend.

  • @SpongyLikeALizard too bad, huh?

  • @SpongyLikeALizard I wish it hadn't.

  • OMG-I locve this song-This is dumb, but my son told me about them, and I listened to them on Sirius XM U & became a fan--but I didn't know anything at all-I thought they were from nowdays lol Now I find out the lead singer died?! Aww-that's just terrible ;*( Thankx for posting so at least I can see them perform...

  • @skyemcleod1 yeah AIC is a 90's band

  • @newrealization12 yeah haha-I missed the boat for sure!

  • @skyemcleod1 Its not to late to jump on board. 90's bands are awesome

  • @newrealization12 haha love 'em

  • @skyemcleod1 Yeah there amazing man buy ther unplugged

  • @bubbaisthebest772 Layne and Jerry were great together but no way are they the best ever.

  • @PrettyPufferPenquin well its really all opinion. you can't prove who the best singing duo ever was.

  • zero dislikes!!! keep it that way!

  • Unbelievable musicians. Layne and crew changed the course of music. RIP buddy....you are missed.

  • Too bad he's gone

  • How many guys are still alive?

  • @flatblackstrat 2 jerry &mike ines

  • @dore24jam sean kinney as well

  • WOW!!! Layne & Cantrell together are amazing!!!

  • Cantrell-Staley are on par with Lennon–McCartney.

  • @jamesthereaper7 they truly are

  • Layne messed up at 3:09 and it still sounds good

That's what i call awesome musicians

  • @99070208 Actually, Jerry messed up.

  • this was Laynes strongest song unplugged...look how he holds himself as he belts it out.

  • @Halocon AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!! Dude Alice In Chains is a 90's band, if they were an 80's band than Nirvana would also be an 80's band their not...Oh yeah from what your saying that means Men at Work is a 70's band lol you just insulted yourself dumbass.

  • @Halocon Typical RETARD talking sh_t behind a computer screen. You have NO IDEA what you are talking about. Guess what dipsh_t, you are stuck with that pea-fucking-brain for life! How does that feel? Being a mental midget and all.....

  • @Halocon They formed in 88 or 89, BUT ALL of their success came in the 90's. IMO, they are a "90's" band. 80's bands are Men at Work and The Bangles. LAME

  • Best band from the 90's

  • r.i.p layne the best grunge band ever, this is the music i would make if i had the talent

  • Te-ma-zo

  • Fav band and fab song.

  • i wish i could've went to one of their concerts but i was too young then

  • Bob Dylan is alive and well. You fucking idiot!

  • the 90s i miss them, but we'll have the memories when music was still good and had soul... i weep for the youth of today

  • @V4Now amen to that!

  • dont get uptight b/c people miss layne. we grieve those we love. esp. music we love.

  • every band has the standard insturments.......guitar, drums, bass etc. but, what made AIC over the top and never to be matched was the extra insturment they had. laynes voice was an insturment in itself. chirst, listen to all the things he can do with it. tones, vibratos, pitches, and things they dont even have words for. the man was and will remain king of all. rust in peace Layne Thomas Staley

  • Was a big fan of AIC growing up, now that I am a grown man its very disturbing to know what a sad ending Layne met.(you can read about it on lots of places) Such a talent was wasted with drug use. Its a shame that no one could reach him, sometimes that is just the way it works though.

  • Love this song... I was lucky enough to BE at this show/taping... it was UNREAL!!!! RIP Layne, you are eternaly amazing...

  • @4rescue Nice, i would have given my left nut to be there. Very fucking jelous btw lol.

  • @Antifaith29 Yeah it was SICK... I knew I was seeing something special, but I had NO IDEA how legendary those shows would come to be... Only wish I'd gotten to see SRV and Nirvana's Unplugged sessions, but as it is, AIC and Pearl Jam were pretty dam amazing. I'm kind of jealous of myself back then. Now days I don't get to see too many shows, I'm always playing. I miss sitting back and watching musical history be made.

  • @Antifaith29 Just to make it worse, in the 90's alone I saw: Pearl Jam/Blind Melon/Neail young, Primus (3X), Rage Against the Machine (2x) , Janes Addiction, Sublime (in a small bar in Eugene OR when I was like 15) UH, Soundgarden, Guns and Roses/Metalica here in Portland) Aerosmith, Sponge/Stone Temple Pilots, Temple of the dog... and a few others I can't remember now. What a great time to be a young impressionable teen... It's pretty rad that nowdays to have all these vids at your finger tips.

  • Please stop the comments like R.I.P Layne you were the best, why do you leave us and the other comments... YES HE'S DEAD BUT IT WAS LONG TIME AGO AND YOU MUST AGREE THIS BECAUSE HE WILL NEVER COME BACK TRY TO LISTEN THIS FANTASTIC MUSIC AND STOP WRITING THESE COMMENTS BECAUSE ITS SO BORRING WHEN EVERYBODY TRY TO GET 5 000 000 HANDS UP... YEA NOW GIVE ME MILION HANDS DOWN...

  • @Bandinho17 I agree with you so thumbs up!

  • wow, i didn't know that.

  • Jerry is playing the guitar

  • Layne.. You shouldn't of left us :(

I give William Duvall credit for trying to fill your shoes the best he can but.. I miss 'My' Alice In Chains.

  • CHILDREN!!!!! DRUGS DESTROY!!!!!!!

  • @55cabgirl Tell that to Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Layne Stanley, Elvis Presley, Bob Dylan or Kurt Cobain (just to name a few).

In the other hand you have Pink Floyd, Aerosmith, Metallica, Guns and Roses (most of them), The Cult, etc still rocking hard.

  • @DrRibas76 lol at The Cult

  • Dylan's still out there playing, but last time I checked Pink Floyd has played together like 3 times in the last 30 years. I know roger waters still tours but come one. If you want to list like a bunch of overdoses at least get it right.

  • wish he was still here...writing new stuff... What a fantastic 'unique' voice..

  • layne the lead singer or the guy with the guitar?

  • @bejamjam Layne is/was the lead singer.

  • Just perfect, the harmony with Jerry. I feel so sad for Layne's last days...

  • Amazing. Harrowing, just harrowing. This is not a human voice in the chorus. So much pain, frustration, howling. Such passion.

  • Favorite AIC Unplugged Performance n Song of The Evening...

  • Looking at Layne and believing he has that kind of vocal range is just like the little skinny kid from middle school that claimed he had a 12 inch cock....No one believed him until he whipped it out. Good Lawdy...

  • I LOVE Layne's voice on this song! The range is huge - he goes from a growl to oily, dirty smooth - pure talent. Not like the talentless auto-tune wannabes of today. Jerry sounds great during this too. He doesn't get enough credit as a vocalist.

  • Layne I believe is in peace now but not resting. I think he is singing up there in Heaven and having lots a fun.

  • You can tell layne reaaally gets into the song, in all his songs. You can see the pain, you can see that life has wore him down. It makes me sad the way he left like he did. He was great, along with Jerry. You may be gone, but you'll live forever, through Alice In Chains.

  • the best of the grunge.... live fot ever layne!!!

  • i want layne to meet me at the gates of heavan <3

  • Chills........muff said!

  • Best unplugged session EVER!!!

  • Thank you for posting these videos! Call me weird, but you can see the pain in Laynes eyes. My heart breaks knowing the struggle he went through. He's singing with the angels now. Cant wait to hear him again.

  • Oh man, to have been one of the fortunate few to have seen this show live. Amazing song and the vocal harmony by Jerry and Layne? Priceless

  • Best performance of Layne during the Unplugged In my opinion.

  • this unplugged album is amazing. aic harmonies are glorious

  • This is the best vid of this song on the entire net. I had never heard the unplugged version of Got Me Wrong 'til just now, and didn't think I would like it without the couple electric parts that the album version has. Damn was I WRONG. This version is just as good, plus Jerry singin' along with Layne is much clearer here. I'm in love.

  • @GotMeWrong1984 Yeah. Absolutely awesome.

  • Coleminer6893L- The gatorade bottles have been the same for some time now, the labels are the only thing different.

  • What's with the Gatorade bottle that Layne has,it looks like one of the new ones. Anyone know what's up with that ? Write back

  • this song is the shit.AIC. jerry rockin it on the backup vocals

  • Thanks for all the vids, they rock!
