NZ is harder to make money than back home, I have a kiwi partner and we are moving to OZ after the big bucks!! Here in Wellington I am making 14/hr and paying 150 per week rent and 2 bucks per litre for petrol, In oz I can make over 20/hr pay 120 on rent and 1.10 on petrol so tell me why the hell would I stay here in this neverland? Kiwis I love you but NZ will become the new Greece

Reason why the overseas people are more qualified, educated with hands on experience compared to the ordinary Australian people.

Unemployment figures are a global yardstick, giving an indication of economic stability, If you study the stats you will soon find that our Govt has spent the last few years moving people from the long tem Unemployment benefit to the sickness benefit. skewing the figures and making us appear to be in good economic shape.
Alternatively, those on the unemployment benefit got tired of being forced into accepting minimum wage jobs and shifted themselves onto the sickness/invalids benefit. The paycut isn't that significant.

So there has definitely been jobs growth. The stats I've seen, from memory, indicate a significant level of 'flow-through' of people who immigrated here for the purpose of going there. Lower-skilled people have also been going in significant numbers for the higher wages they believe they will find there. Most were employed here.
