  • Yes, if you watch the last bit, you'll see them being returned to the heat lamps. For the first few days, it should be around 35C, so a thermometer is essential. If it's too hot, they will flake out and look very uncomfortable, if it's too cold they won't have the energy to move or eat, so both is equally bad. They should be running around, eating / drinking, and resting under the light at times. By watching them, you'll easily see if you've got the temperature right.Reduce the temp gradually.

  • so when quails hatch you need to put them under a heat lamp?

  • @amberlight27510 yes, otherwise thell die from cold unless the inside of your house is 35 degrees..

  • @emjayxluv i dont think any house is 35 degrees.

  • @amberlight27510 its a possibility in australia..

  • Hey, it may sound crazy but I feed my button quail cat food. If it is around 25-30% protein it's really healthy for them and they love it! Just crush it into small pieces with a blender or hammer, and mix it with there food. I also feed them boiled eggs grounded up shell and all.

  • You know a lot about quails I brought a breeding pair of chinese/button quails myself today and going to hatch Californian valley quails too, thanks for the video there beautiful healthy little chicks :D

  • Thanks. I just give them normal chick crumbs, crushed. I give them water in milk bottle tops with chick crumbs in the bottom (rather than pebbles), as they drown easily in anything deeper. I also feed boiled egg yolks, a little blue maw seed and millet seed, and very importantly, oyster shell grit at a few days old. Rearing quail chicks is straightforward, when they get the right food / temperature. They wander from the heat lamp, so big containers are best avoided for the first few days.

  • this is a very cute video, is raising quails like raising chickens i'm going to get both next year at a very young age, they won't be kept in same cage but can i give them the same food, i am giving to give the chickens medicated chick crumb is this suitable for quails
