Beautiful monitor!! lizards are way better than dogs. I can't wait for my tegu to grow up and be that sweet hes on his way though! Good job with your nile
Its amazing to see such a large nile so docile. I just bought my first nile monitor hes only about a foot long oddly hes very tame if I would let him hang out on my shirt all day hed be perfectly fine with that. I will be adding some more videos soon feel free to check them out......
nice nile you got there. i got mine tame too. not very hard really. i used to take baths and swim in the swimming pool with mine. dont forget to wear short though!
I think it's just luck when you get them tamed, I would never let my guard down too much, but probably the best bet would be to get a young female. Male reptiles are normally very aggressive.
verry nice looking nile. i cant waite untill mine is that large.. right now hes a few inches over 3 feet. tell me, did you raise yours? what sort of things have you noticed about his temperment threwout its life? what diferent ways did you go about tameing him?
Hi. Beatiful nile and great video. I basically used the same method. I created a little "play-pen" and just sat in there with her. Yea, I've had her since a hatchling (six years this august). She has become more trusting of me over the years but I would have to say her temperment is about the same. She still freaks out if anyone is around while I'm handeling her. These lizards have genuine personalities. I've had good luck by not forcing anything and just getting to know her.
thats kind of the way im going with right now as well. mine is not verry bitey but if you try to restraine her at all like for cliping nails or something then she will try and bite... i havent been taged by her in a realy long time. but my manager just got bit by her yesterday soo... i guess thats what happens when you hold my animals without asking me first =]
Hey i just got a Nile Monitor, he is still a baby but hes pretty aggressive, hasnt go this teeth yet but he bites and just stays there for like 20-30 mins, how'd you tame yours?
Oh man, you love very much to your pets and it's clear that the varanid had live with you all his live, beauty video. One question, had this lizard show someday a more warn behaviour like the mammals or contrary have always this polite indifference?
Thanks for the kind responce. You are correct. I've had her since a hatchling. She has become comfortable with me handling her over the years, but this has only come very slowly, and on her terms. Even so, she still freaks out if any one else approaches me while handeling her. I think thier defensive nature is pretty much hard-wired. Unfortunately many people buy baby Nile hoping they will become tame....sadly this usually isn't the case and they end up getting dumped.
