  • 1100D, I couldn't care less about tracking and high burst speed for the kind of photography I do. I much rather have the extra quality in high ISO's.

  • 3:00

    Sticky man fluid!!

  • The second Asian guy who came in, I have no clue what he's saying.

  • well maybe ill choose a 1100D because i never believe in 2nd hand camera Lol cheers !!

  • the first guy talking was ok... the second one, talking about the "shiny bitch" is apsolutely painful

  • @GhosT7JW As painful as your spelling?

  • Kai? where does your accent come from?

  • @MyNameIsOwain England.

  • Too riski t obuy a used camera imho

  • It's funny - normally the 1100D guy only wants good-feeling bodies and perfect image quality but when competing against a 40D it all isn't important anymore

  • 40D easily! i wouldnt put the 40D far behing my 600D tbh

  • use film. end of story

  • @XItzSanjeev No...unless it's large format.

  • For me, 40D, 30D and 20D > 1100D

  • Thumbs up if you want Lok for President! :)

  • I do love my 1100d :3

  • how about d3100

(thumbs up if u have one)

  • 1100D is good for the begginners and you can also get nice pictures if you have good lenses

  • 20d!

  • Lok....you are not using 1Dx...

  • actually when comparing prices a second-hand 40D kit still costs 1,5 to 2 times more than a new 1100D kit would. the 450d is closer to the 1100d in both the price and the performance

  • @fulltunes ur chatting shit! a second hand canon 40D is around 300quid, a 1100D is around 350!

  • Comment removed

  • i have an 1100d... it is my love

  • 1100D

  • lok is funny... "i can go to the desert with heavy rain." lmao!!!

  • 1100d :-)

  • Holga!!!!

  • look at the shiny bitch 1:10

  • anyone picks 1100D definitely never tried 40D

  • Nikon fucks up canon every day of the week. Canon suxx

  • @heestenhats really charlie, really...??? let me guess, you have a nikon right... right... I shoot canon and will never say anything foolish about other brands. let me see your albums or your photo studio... that's what i thought, you don't have one. real photographers never smash on other, it's how you bring photos to life. just pack your stuff and go out and just have fun shooting and not worry about who's king and who's not. hopefully this will knock some sense to you.

  • 1100D forever

  • will go for newer technology

  • 1100D its good för new users. i did get 1100D , i like it!

  • These are interesting thoughts.

How about another heads-on challenge: the 60D vs the 5D Mark I. About the same price, and I would guess the 5D mark I trumps the 60D - it certainly did so for the 50D...

  • LOK <3

  • Lok <3

  • Obviously if what you want is to upload your photos to tumblr, the 1100D is for you, but if you want to do something pro, 40D is the best option.

  • D7000 .

  • bought a mint 40d from mpb photography in brighton for £369.....i absolutely love it...

  • 40d!!

  • Barry. i love that guy!

  • he should have gotten a sony a-35 . it costs the same amount of money but totally pawns the 1100D

  • have you ever done the trial or review for the comparison between 40D and 550D? This is what I have gotten in my bag.. (I am inherited 550D from my wife)

  • 1100D is great :) ... working perfekt out and inside, even at bad light :)

  • i hate the 1100d...

  • @oMkRnRTz Why? Because I'm considering this to get , but I don't have any idea what to get? Which one do you suggest?? And why do you think it's bad?

  • @xBlameTheNarglesx I would recommend to go t a camerastore and test it out. i did that to and i was shocked. that means, i wasnt really shocked because for under 400 bucks i wasnt expecting this much. the whole camera feels like it will fall appart soon. of course image quality is nearly the same like 5d, but it is about the way you get there. i bought a 600d/t3i. its still kind of plasticy but its still a very nice camera.

  • Ah yes I love scrounging the second hand market seeking well.. "better"

But I agree what is better, sometimes a more basic model with a newer sensor type can just be what you need. Going back 3 generations to a pro model [of 3 generations old] can be a step back. Or well. yeah

Whatever you need or seek really.

  • Barry - the Stig of the camera world.....

  • sticky man fluid.... lolololololololol!!!

  • i love my 1100d does what i need it to do :)

  • His 40D's shutter will die year after. :D

    Second hand is second hand.

  • Old tech ... My 5D is still alive and kicking butt :D

  • love the way lok says 'look at it'

  • I think if anyone even mentions 'modes' then they are far better off with a plastic 1100D ... actually, a bridge camera possibly would have been a better buy!

The 40D is the far better buy (if you can get a nice one of course)

  • Go 40D

  • buying a 2nd 40D, tomorrow :D

  • YOU ARE JUST COMPARING A SEMI PRO CAMERA TO A BEGINNER CAMERA AGAIN there was no point in this video if you were coing to do that

  • 1 vote for 40D, it is still so sexy! :))

  • 1100D as it is much cheaper and looks better + 40D has no movie mode

  • @crogish

how the fuck does it look better? its all cheap plastic... and design... just meh!

  • I'll buy a Canon 1100D .. here in Brazil the price is $ 1050,00 '-' Hight tax > < ' .. 60% is just tax !!

  • i got both 40 D and 550 D. I firstly bought 2nd hand 40 D with 100,000 shutter guarantee, and mine ran only 6,000 times. So it was pretty decent back to 3 years ago with 17-85 IS Canon lens.Recent trip I used 550D that was bought last year for my wife (for new entry). Firstly I felt that camera is felling off my hand, as grip size fit for 3 fingers not the whole palm. After holding and shooting for a while, I kind of like the light weight and "ok" quality with HD video mode. But I love 40D still

  • 1100D, because its great in shooting videography and photography. I used sports mode and got great image quality and fantastic pictures on fireworks and has more modes than 40D.

  • @CoolTricksHD "more modes"

    FAIL!!!

  • 40D for me - I just bought one! Nice and mint with just under 4000 actuations - much better than my previous 350D!

  • The 40d mag alloy shell has advantages that not many people think about. It is one of the best materials in the world for cooling electronic devices with high heat. That is why high end sound systems have mag alloy shells. Dslr`s make high heat and it is the best material to have as a shell for a camera.

  • here is some info of the upcoming 7D mark II and 5D mark III

    canonandnikonnews.blogspot.com/

  • Id go with a 40D for sure even though I'm more of a filmmaker :P

  • 40D!

  • 40D definitely! Very good cameras

  • LOl SAND SEALING!!!

  • 1100D, this video inspired me to get one :) brill cam can't wait to use it properly.

  • 1100D ofc!

  • No matter wat camera you get, you get what you pay for,,, so it relllllllly pays to look around, and read reviews before you go by one,,, i have Canon 550D great cam also the 1100D is like my 550d but less mp etc,, worth the money, :) as i said you get what you pay for,

  • 40D is better !!

  • @SuperLinkin1

    ever lokked at the price?!-.-*

  • I was so scared if they were going to drop it... The way they hold it,

  • before there was 1100D there was 40D what were the pros using then?

  • Is the 1100D any good for a beginners camera?

  • i stick with 1100d..

  • i want this for christmas :(

  • NEX-C3 for the same price.

Much better low light and movie handling then either of them.

On the other hand... Kie probably does not like it ....

  • Micro 4/3, but then again some folk love carrying bricks around.

  • Kai, I think you've gotten back to the reviews that got me into watching your productions originally. Bravo.

  • D7000! XD

  • 40d!!!!

  • 1100d

  • i choose 1100D :D i have this one, one step better than 40D 2nd hand i think :)

  • These guys are great. I love Kai's light hearted yet informative reviews. Good stuff.

  • 1100D :D

  • 40D! Maybe even the 30D. I only use the View Finder and the top LCD really helps along with the FPS.

  • clearly the 40D without even think of the 1100D ;-)

  • erm...PUO camera...erm lMAO

  • You guys should do a 1100D and 500D. Hd video on both and both around same price.

  • i have the 1100D it is a very good camera for your money!

  • 1100:D

  • i'll go with the one that has a Digic-4 processor, all the time.... better image quality with bonus HD movie mode.

  • 550D :)

  • Comment removed

  • Old K20D by Pentax is cheaper and better than both.

  • Lens>Body. I wouldn't worry about body as much, I'd just try to ind the most for my money.

  • I still have my precious 40D :)

  • Comment removed

  • If you're a pro, you don't need a pro body to shoot. Even if you have pro body liek 40D if your a dumb-nut, better go suck your balls. :)) So hail for the 1100D with video HD 720p and better more advance CMOS sensor!

  • Lok makes me laugh these two are the best presenters ever!

  • Canon 1100D

  • I'm loving my 40D that I bought 2nd hand! It stills performs well

  • I still love Kai and Lok. So I go for EOS 1140d. hahaHa! XD! COMBINED?!

  • thumbs up's for more Lok!!

  • Kai where do you get your shirts?

  • @TheKRNG

    chinese market

  • Lok ftw. Subscribed :D

  • EOS Camera Movie Record if you want movies on the 40d.

  • I went for a 2nd hand canon eos 500d :P

  • Is that Barry guy actually like that in real life?!

  • 60d or 7d ha-ha

  • Kai: "Pros would not buy a second hand 40D"

    Lok: "[pause] ...Well, I mean..."

    LOL!!!

  • 40d ...........my first dslr

  • 40d ! and im probably buying one or a 50d with a canon eos 70-200mm f/4 good setup ???

  • @jamespinderphotoman very good !

  • 40D is a fine camera. I intend to use mine until it breaks. Unless I find a 5D Mk2 in my christmas stocking

  • i bought my 40d used and its in perfect condition you stopped the iso to soon it goes up to 3200 and you can conect it to a laptop with a usb record video in resolutions higher then 1080p

  • just so you know... the continent of Antarctica is the largest desert in the world...

  • I got a 1100D as my first DSLR for about 2-3 months ago and I like it alot! I've really got into photo.. now and I just love it! I've tried some diffrent cameras like the 60D and I sure agree with that the 1100D is kinda plastish. I just about to order a Sigma 18-50mm f 2.8 and I also gonna buy a bettery grip ( finally found one!) to get some more feeling to the camera and also a bit better battery for when im recording in movie mode.

  • The 40d is a beast of a camera, only complaint I have is that its not full frame. Otherwise, its still a solid camera after all these years. If I upgraded it would be to something like a 5d mark 2 or even the original 5d, not an 1100d.

  • im still rockin the 40D <3 i love it. anyday over a rebel. it does have iso expansion but i never pass 400iso.. D: im waitin on the 7Dmark II

  • @proto35 why would you stay on crop camera when the full frame is so much fun ?

  • @evo271 because usually there is a lack of AF points and fast burst fire. only way i can get good zoom and FF and AF and burst fire is the 1DX and a good collection of lenses. one day maybe, but as of now, a 7DmrkII would be nice unless they make a good FF camera that is cheaper but has what i want.

  • I'd pick the 40D or even a 30D before a 1100D. Imagine that they would've compared it with a 1D mark IIn.

  • Looking forward to getting myself a 1100d :)

  • I'd go for a new 1100D, and the reason is that you never know what flaws you're gonna come over with it, being a 2nd hand.

I guess Lok might have got lucky with his 40D with just a sticky dial.

So go for a new camera that's probably not as good as a used one which you don't know what you'll have to fix in it tomorrow.

  • t3

  • (Continue) The 1100D is slightly better in image quality and has higher ISO, decent high ISO and it handles noise better too.. that is important for me...

BUT the 40D has better body etc which we all know and it has battery grip and wireless file transmitter which is still a good camera when used to take live printing photos :))) depends on what you need the camera for

  • I have both the 40D and 1100D... to be honest, the 1100D has a better image quality even though my 40D has done some professional work, but technology will always change to be better... i still use the 40D as my spare camera, have it for many years but the 1100D is my new backup or second camera cos its so light and reliable and it takes great photos... the 1100D has 12 megapix and 40D only 10.. when printed onto A3 photo paper, it shows... The 1100D is slightly better and has higher ISO, decen

  • If i have the same amount of budget as digitalrev. I would aim for the 40D.

  • i would want a camera that behave like a camera.. namely be able to take photos with ease, anyway , anytime.. imagine taking the 40d , a couple of camera lenses, a mini tripod, a mineral bottle of water, some money, a mini folded umbrella, a video camera etc when you travel abroad. Walking from morning till night for sightseeing and for 5 days..

it could easily be like carry several kilos..

    give me a less heavy 1100D .

  • 1100D is a great all round camera, although like you have shown here it doesn't have some of the features of the 40D it is still a great camera for beginners.

  • Get a 50d.

  • 40D. Of course it has terrible LCD. But who cares about the screen when shooting reportage? And in Russia used 40D is 30% cheaper than new 1100D. :D

  • 40D or 1100D? Gotta go with the 600D!

  • i own a 1100d and i think its better considering it being an entry level dslr

  • 40D for sure. I still have my old 20D and it works great. I use it as my second camera. New cameras might have some silly features like video or filters, if you are not going to use it, they are just rubbish.

  • I wouldn't get either of these. I mean, c'mon, who would deliberately get a Canon, when there's Nikon around :)

  • still use my 10D.... never ever trade it in for a 3 or 4 digit canon...

  • 300d is good enough. Do not burn money for bodies, lenses are way better buy as they are the primary factor, not the body. 300d is better with good lenses than 5d or and 1d with not so good lenses.

  • You could extend this by comparing

    60d vs 2nd-hand 5d

    5dmkII vs 2nd-hand 1d mkIII

  • @urljaks I'd get 60D, only because I need the flip-out screen. As for 5dmkII vs 1d I'd get the 5dmkII. Definitely a cool idea for a video though, these Lok vs Kai videos are cool, I hope they're nicer to each other off camera tho :P

  • 1100D is my 1st DSLR and it is quite good! 1100D > 40D !!!

  • I should have gotten a 40D instead of the 500D, regreeettt ~

  • 40D

  • i would go for the 7d hands down... oh wait, it wasn't in this video? ok gimme a nikon then

  • 40D for movie mode !! lol

  • kai looks kinda sad, blame locke!!!

  • 40D. clearly

  • Oh BTW just to mention that the 1100D doesn't have a DOF preview key, FAIL!

  • Not really a fair comparison, there is a few years between each camera on the technology stages, I myself owned a 450D which I chucked over for a 40D, some said I went backwards, maybe so, I don't think so. But I feel less of a prat with a gripped 40D than I did with a miniature toy. Regarding video, I wished they'd stop putting it in stills camera and sacrificing other "Useful" elements, if you wan video, buy a digital camcorder.

  • Lok should get a Pentax K-x

  • I'd go for the Canon 5D Mark III :D

  • Lol forgot to say win. FAIL.

  • 60d

  • 40D althought i'm using a 60D.. top LCD ftw!

  • 40D all the way! Never had one, but have had a similar 50D and now a 7D. Like the feel of mag. alloy.

  • 1100D Because i'm a beginner, and it will be my first DSLR.

  • I love my L lenses because I like to feel of a good lens. Similarly, I couldn' t be happy with a cheap feeling camera like the 1100D. My L macro is not metal, but it feels like quality. No so with the non-L lenses, or the xxxxD or xxxD cameras.

  • 40D. I love mine with my L lenses. I will upgrade to the 5D Mark III, but nothing less. 7D? Still APS-C. Why bother?
