Yeah its not just a turbo kit either its a whole other motor. For 1700 the mustang guy can swap a lincoln aviator motor in and go from his 215hp sohc non pi motor (as the dash shows this car is a SN95I) to a 320hp dohc cobra motor. My A4 makes 270hp and could walk a stock non pi 4.6 big woop

This mustang is the 215hp pig 4.6 so that 240 would only need 280-300 to pull away like that. A turbo non-pi 4.6 will make 400hp...it'd pull away pretty dirty....or for 1700-2000 a dohc 4.6 (from a variety of different lincolns) can be transplanted making 320hp. for less than a grand it could put that to the ground and would also work that car. The RB has a turbo which increases its volumetric capacity therefore it is the equivalent of much more than 2.0L
Check the dash its a 96 with the pig 215hp 4.6....not a fair race at all. a turbo kit for a mustang is about 3k tuning around 275 and they'll easily make 400, the PI 4.6 will put down near 500 and be way more reliable but its simply because smaller motors have to work way harder to make their power, a built 4.6 turbo (which lets be honest RBs are very robust because of the prices of the cars they came in) can put down over 700hp with a solid power band and TQ

@winescargo it depends on what your intentions are i gess, the vhs are fairly light weight and i think they would be fun to play around with ive never worked on one ive only owned rbs. if you are thinking of going rb id personaly go with a rb30det they can be expensive it just depends on where you live, a rb25det neo is worth around 2000-2500NZD here
@RFucknBNZ I'm in America and vhs are super cheap. I can go to a pick-and-pull and get the engine and harness for a few hundred dollars. Rbs are a few grand to get here because they have to be imported and all, and getting a rb30 block would be fairly difficult. I'll decide eventually, but it's definitely between a rb and a vh.
hmmm i like the whole idea of RB's in 240's for power but the SR with a single turbo is home for a daily drive, not much to show in a straight line but in/out of corners it can do pretty well.

i lived there 9 years and have owned a GTR(32), S14(kouki), and a GTS-T(32 and 33)
i work on cars for a living .
rb26's come in the GTR .
and you have a 6 with twins .
then you have a NA stang .
say you put 10 grand in a stang
then you put 10 grand in a nissan
depending on mods bought the stang will destroy it .
ive been stateside for 5 months now, and i have a mach 1, chose that because it has an aluminum head, i threw a kenne bell on it, and no gtr would ever come close

@braggstang i don't know what you're goin on about but 10 grand in a stang won't get you a whole lot compared to what it'd get you out of an RB...it's a lot harder to get power out of an N/A engine. Unless you're talking about a supercharged stang in which case, you're well over your 10g spending limit just buying the car...and it's still more expensive to mod

@braggstang ---- all mustangs after 1996 have aluminum heads...... You bought it for the aluminum block AKA Teksid and the 4v DOHC heads. If you are a REAL mechanic and mustang enthusiast you would know that. Also, there are too many variables to say 10k in mods to both cars would end in the mustang winning. Don't be so butt-hurt that a mustang lost.

Brag, you're dead wrong. If you had a 32 putting 210 at the crank then you had a gtst which has the rb20det in it. 2 liter 6 with a very small single turbo. This guy is running an rb26dett. 2.6 Straight six twin turbo. They don't call that engine godzilla for nothing. Its very conservatively rated at 285 and that's with a lot of sandbaggin on nissans part. Personally I think your full of it because I really was stained in japan for over two years and this stuff us just common knowledge

RB's are wonderfull engines, but I'm afraid that at the end of the day, once they start tuning those yanks, they leave you in a cloud of dust.. that is untill you get to the twistys :)
What it comes down to is this, you can make anything fast, it's just a matter of putting enough money into it.

It's not really a secret that American V8s have been lazy, slow, and oversized up until recently. The 4.6 was a tragic motor, thank god the 5.0's back and better than ever.
