who cares where he's been but Ive seen Ray around 40 times from the legendery Ray Stubbs Rhythm and Bles All Stars at the magix gigs at the Ivy House Sunderland to lots of his solo gigs the mans a legend
May be a bit late now but I saw Ray in The Rescuers pub in Lofthouse Wakefield in
Yorkshire in the early 90s a few times. It was in a room about 20ft x 20ft. Just magic. I think he was earning his bus fare home.
He had a walk-on part in one of the Catherine Cookson tv things.Good musician. Thanks for the entertainment, Ray. I've seen some of the Mississippi guys- Fred McDowell Willie Dixon Sonny Terry Brownie McGee Lightning Hopkins. At least Ray keeps it going for us blues freaks.
I think the music and video are awesome but doesn't anybody think that it's funny that "the godfather" of the blues has won plaudits, (what are plaudits?) from Germany to Holland? Those places aren't very far apart and are no where near Mississippi.
Probably more poingnant to mention that BB King has said the Blues was rescued by skinny white Englishmen. Like Ray. And by the way, the Mississippi is a very river not a place.
Good to see Ray Stubbs on the tube at last. A very under-rated bluesman.

He's really talented to play with a harmonica and a guitar at the same time

I was lucky enough to be in his band 1988 - 89. Great guy, great times.

Went to See Eric Brudon at the o2 in Newcastle last night and Ray Stubbs was supporting. He was amazing! really F'in quality!
Its a shame there isn't more of him online. Definitely worth a watch if he's playing in a pub near you. Have a drink and tap along.
I'm sure no one cares he hasn't been to Mississippi by the way Robbryn. Keep you pointless comments to yourself, eh?

I worked for the private record label Folkland that produced (I think) Ray's first album in 1976. Saw him play quite a bit then. Nice guy.

I agree but Mississippi is a state as well as the name of a river.
