@krij236 It's a freestyle. Basically that means you can do anything you like in the 90 seconds. A good freestyle combines several dance styles and as several people have already said has the fun factor. Lifts are allowed but not so many that it ceases to be a dance and becomes a weightlifting competition!!

Sorry to be picky but Chris' partner is Ola Jordan not (as you state) Ola Fortuna. The American, Brian who partnered Ali Bastion is Brian Fortuna. I love Ola and Chris, I know that Chris wasn't the best dancer but he always threw himself into the routines and had fun with it. Ola is a wonderful choreographer and really deserved to do well.

The "Ola Fortuna" thing is something that the BBC really should have picked up on when they posted the video. It's not something Auntie Beeb should really be doing, what with being a national broadcaster and everything.

But yeah, Chris did well with what he had and backed it up with endless enthusiasm. And Team Cola's routines were always far more entertaining than the other contestants - which is what the show's all about, really.

I will admit i didnt originally want these two to win but their charlston and their entertainment factor won me over. Ola turned Chris into a dancer and they deserved to win.

Agreed. Like Len said in the final, Ola & Chris went on a journey over the course of the show, and Chris ended that journey as a blisteringly entertaining showman.

I think that with Chris and Ola it was all more lighthearted and fun. That is why they won. Ricky and Natalie were amazing and by far the better dancers but they lacked the fun factor.

Yeah, I'd definitely go with that. I watch Chris' dances again and again on here (all while dancing in my chair :)) because they're so much fun, and they cheer me up a great deal. Ricky's dances were very good indeed, but they never had that kind of effect on me.

Wow, Ola was defo working him hard. He's wouldn't have been able to do all the lifts 14 weeks ago, Len was right, he must have been at the spinich! I thought Ola was a much better chorographer than Natalie throughout the series, she knows how to dance with chris, while also showing him off. Also, what was with Ricky's neck lift? Bit weird I though.

Sorczlady says it all. I was rooting for Chris & Ola every week, in spite of better (technical) dancers on the show. This couple's journey was one of the most emotional and captivating things on TV this year. Their triumph last night a true highlight, and richly deserved. Well done Chis & Ola!

Strictly is not the X-Factor, so don't treat it as such.

If bad singers win the X Factor it is a travesty because that is a programme about talent, and something is actually made from it at the end of the day. Strictly is purely about entertainment and C class celebs just having fun. Chris and Ricky BOTH deserved to win, and for different reasons.

for me there is always one show dance which is miles better than the other and that is always the decider on who the winner is and it it always the winners show dance.

this was SO much better than Ricky's - it was fun, it was infectious, it showed that Chris has improved and it was such a wonderful dance!!

Chris and Ola got my support & they were worthy winners. Yes, Ricky was the better dancer but Chris went on THE JOURNEY. And thats what counts.

Yeah, I'd go with that. Colin Jackson's silly show dance with the puppets definitely lost it for him when he'd been the front runner all through the series, and Tom "2008's Dark Horse" Chambers' amazingly enjoyable show dance from last year gave him a massive advantage over Rachel Stevens.

Think about this, then: Tom Chambers wasn't the best dancer last year, and he won at the expense of Rachel Stevens, the better dancer. Darren Gough wasn't the best dancer his year either, and he won it as well. Colin Jackson was the best dancer his year, and he failed to win (mostly because of that silly show dance he did with the puppets).

Was the vote rigged then too? Has it been rigged since Natasha Kaplinsky (also BBC) won it? Come on, you're grasping at straws now.

It's true. That moment where Chris is effectively lifting Ola with one arm had me almost picking my jaw up off the floor in shock - I'd never seen him do such amazing lifts before.

The whole dance was a joyous experience, and (along with his sublime Charleston) showed just how much Strictly (and I) will miss Chris as a dancer and entertainer.
