Sweet Head..I'm Using A LANEY 1989 A.O.R.100 Pro Tube Lead Head.. I Just Re tubed It For The ''FIRST'' Time Recently.Mine Is Simular But 2 Channels.Mine Is The 80's Sound.. ,British To a Marshall Sound.Pretty Much All Of The ''Hair Bands'' Used It.Never Had Any Problems With It,Being Brought To A Shop To Get Worked On.Everyone I Jammed With Had It,,So Knowing How It Sounded,I Got One.If I Ever Got Rid Of It,I'd Get A Messa Boogie Or A Blackstar...!!! The BOLT' Amps Sound Very Good..!!
I'm a lucky one. I own the 100w head. I live near where they are produced.. The only, and I mean only down side to it is the size. It is about 28 x 11 x 12. But if you like tone, a big head isn't that bad.
ABSOLUTELY. It is like having 18 amps in one with the Voicing and Boost. I might get the 50w head, but I'm starting to love the 3 different channels, and the 50w head only has 2.
This amp is a real winner if you're serious about tone. I've used M, F, Rivera, Boogie, Ceriatone, Bogner, etc.
@AbraxasTribute I have owned alot of amps...Boogie- Triaxis/290 power amp & Dual Rec. Marshall- DSL 100, JCM 800(re-issue) & 50 watt Plexi plus other amps. Currently I am using a Carvin V3 with a Marshall 4x12 with Celestion GT12-75's & I love it but I do want to get something else down the road in the next 6 months or so. Can you get a Priest like tone from the crunch channel on the Bolt? Does it have enough gain? Will I need the cab or can I use mine? Thanks!
Great amp!!! The holy grail of tone. (and I own a Marshall DSL100). Three amps in one. Tone, tone tone!
Three (well 6) voicings. Marshall, Mesa, Fender, Vox, and some hybrid thing they do, WOW!!! What an amp. Well worht the money (street, $2300). Compare that to other boutique amp prices like Bad Cat, Matchless, Orange (one trick ponys) and you will see the value.
wow... watchin this video i realied something stupid and dumb that i want all to look at and judge with any criticizm or anything at all.... to get that saturated tube sound out of a low volume on say a 100 watt amp... simply take the normal volume knob and label it as drive or something like that... then make a VOLUME knob between just the amp and the speakers... this would only lower/raise power going from the amp to the speaker right?
@youshalldietonight this should result in being able to power ur amp to the fullest and still be able to reduce the signal strength ( or volume ) foing to the speakers... or would it mess up the speaker wattage/ohms rating with the amp?
@youshalldietonight yeah they have that. it's called a power attenuator. they also make "volume boxes" for exactly what you're talking about though they are known to cause problems with amps. you can also get speakers with built in attenuation controls from eminence.
@youshalldietonight another way that sounds better to my ears is a ppimv post phase inverter master volume). this coupled with class operation switching and pentode/triode modes would or do offer the same thing. to me this amp sounds like a marshall which is cool but, it would be nice to hear something new as opposed to M or F type's being rebuilt with new bells and whistles.
I bought one of these yesterday. Fucking unbelievable amp, can't wait it to take it to band practice! Wish I knew how to order one of those replacement black faceplates.
Just played on this today with a Les Paul and seriously wasn't a huge fan. This amp is very loud and will produce a very good american Metal distortion. Much like a Metallica sound or a marshall amp. I personally like Diezel and Engl amps better. Plus it looks cheap. Doesn't feel cheap, just looks cheap.
@ericardensmith I felt the same way when I played this.I played all kinds of high end amps and ended up with the Blackstar series 1/100.Just sounded better and much more versitile. However the cleans might be a little better on this but the crunch and OD 1/2 on the B.S. is just amazing what you can do with the voicing options.
Great guitar player, cool looking amp. Sounds pretty good, I like the crunch sound. I like how you can hear the clarity of the strings. It sounds great. I dont have the money to buy something like this but it looks really cool and sounds great.
We finally got a chance to put this thing next to a Blackstar series 1/200 and though they both sound great, the Blackstar took it in presence, gain, and overall versatility. But that was the opinions of 5 players that were there. We all thought the Blackstar was a much better bang for the buck. But opinions may vary depending on what one is looking for.
Also had the Egnater Tourmaster with them and its not in the running in any way with Blackstar/Bolt.Not to mention way to many customer service horror stories with the Tourmaster.
Seems a bit over the top with the gimmicks. Who needs to see their tube saturation? I mean, from stage level it could barely be seen anyway, so it can't just be for show. And all those teeny tiny buttons. I can already see getting pissed with those. And the face plates? Seriously? This amp sounds nice. If only they would have let the sound be the showcase.
It may be good for diagnosis of the amp, but i doubt anything would go wrong lol, unless you was really unlucky. maybe the saturation gets lower when your tubes wear down?
That was from Bolt's site? I mean, I don't even bother to see how a manufacturer reviews it's own product. That's why their site exists; to sell product. But I agree about volume level. I don't know if there's any way to escape that with a tube amp. Having said that, this amp does sound pretty good.
I am in the market for an amp and I was seriously considering waiting for these to be available. But, I sent them a message using their "contact us" form online over a week ago asking about availability, dealers, etc. I have not gotten any response at all. If that is any indication of their level of customer support there's no way I'm buying their product.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We just got our website up and running and did not realize that the email link was broken. You were probably the first to use that feature on our website. It should be working now.
Sounds great!!! Nice "crunch" Way to go guys. Love the tube visability but the overall look could be sexier. Carbon fiber...? burled walnut...? Smart guys treading the line between digital and analog. Best of both worlds. Jeremy....the Ventures?
the whole "you dont have to crank it to make it sound cranked" thing seems a bit shady too me, they dont explain it and it doesnt make sense.
also when he turns up the gain, the tube saturation meter goes up, so hes probably trying to convince us its the "crankometer" but infact its just a monitor for preamp gain.
Thats not a bad price at all,for what this thing is supposed to do,I would have to test drive it before I just bought it though. But it's quite possably the coolest 100,watt head Ive seen so far..I wonder how reliable all of these cool features are also.I do really like the way this amp is set up though.I am dying to play one now..
It's not bad but for just a few hundred more you can get the new Mesa Boogie Mark V, the EVH 5150 III, etc. I'm actually in the market for a new amp right now and have about $1500 to spend. I'm really weighing my options and I am really impressed by the Bolt. But there's nothing on the site about when they will be available or where. I need am amp pretty soon so if this is available soon and I can get it below MAP I may bite but MAP is a bit too high for this IMHO.

I don't even use the Lead (OD) Channel. The Crunch channel is enough for me.
The OD channel can go all the way out there to distortionland.
It has enough gain for anything I've heard out of a guitarist in the past 50 years.
Any cabinet will do, but I prefer 1/2 or 3/4 open back with Scumback M75 LHDC 100 watt spkrs. They are KING!

MoneyMaker4Ads 2 years ago
I just read on their site....
"Front panel analog meter displays tube saturation of both preamp and power amp"
If you can't differentiate, there's no point in having it...
Something else from the site.....
"When I heard the amp at high volume, it sounded great, but then they
pulled the volume way down and it still had the same sound. Thats pretty radical.
Somehow I doubt that. The level of power amp saturation will change that A LOT.

think about comparing solid state to tube amps
