  • some sweet info here

  • I'm working on this at school and I had no idea what to do (BLONDE HERE! :P) so I was able to look up how its works and what a magnetic field was!! Thanks video!! lol

  • lies see my videos

  • boooooooooooooooooo

  • How did I get here from Skyrim?

  • @lmaoihopeidogood

    haha, WTF :p

  • What is in between the magnetic field lines?

  • @Singetally There aren't actually little magnetic field lines around a magnet, the lines are just vectors., they're just a visualization.

  • @jordy45678 If he put a lot more dust onto the paper, wouldn't they still separate into lines? Doesn't that imply that there are literally lines we can't see? That we can only see evidence of it? He said in the video that the lines are just an idea visualized...but he literally put powder and it formed lines. Can you explain again please? >_<

  • @jordy45678 If he just drew on a piece of paper the lines, THEN that's just an idea visualized, because he drew it. I thought since the magnet literally separated the dust then it's not just an idea. I know i'm wrong, but i'm trying my best to explain my frustration :)

  • the video is kind of short

  • Agree

  • very nice simple vid.

  • exactly,this video don`t answear any question.

  • People interested in magnets and the TRUE flux fields should check out SirZerp on youtube. A magnet has vortexes above each pole. Also type "magnetflipper vortex spin" to check out his electricity + magnet experiments creating a helical vortex effect around the magnet creating spin. We have been misled i'm afraid.

  • Thanks for uploading this video!! I'm an elementary science teacher that only has 50 minutes to teach each class! Hence your video helps a lot!

  • Is there any digital model of magnetism? I would like to build a virtual magnet motor but want to test the angles of the magnets on a computer before paying to have the parts machined. I understand that there are different strengths of magnets so I want to be able to change these variables and see what happens before getting parts made up.

  • @meadman718

    Dear Sir,

with refferance to your requirement I suggest one web site, where will get many types of result with figure presentetion, said calculator also applicable to studdy on shiling effect with different types of thikness plate.

    w w w . kjmagnetics . com / calculator . asp

(Plz minimiez space between web link)

if you have any more information or requires a friend in this field than you well come . good luck

  • um, you're not telling me what a magnet is, you're telling me how to map its behavior... that's like describing a wave by showing me a coastline

  • @TurboLoveTrain "What is the magnetic field" Your saying that it didnt tell us what a magnet is. a magnet is metal, Stupidass. this vid shows us what it does.

  • @HellHound60248 obviously I missed it then: according to this video please clarify for me what a magnetic field is

  • FUCKIN MAGNETS! HOW DO THEY WORK??

  • @japanezeboi They are charged in such a way that they have a non-explainable field of energy that pulls on certain objects with a decent charge of electrons, therefore attracting other magnets and metals. The earth also has magnetism on it's poles. Did you know that if you went to the exact top/bottom of the earth, Your compasses would malfunction? That is because it is using the earth's magnetism to navigate. so when it's at the place it's pointing to.. well.. Say bye to your compass. :)

  • Mullen from Grandia ?? same voice, same enunciation.. wth

  • Damn that's cool.

  • tanks you just saved my point!

  • this crap and doesn't explain anything

  • @moinkmoink1 this is boring

  • @MrSuperstvn Education isn't fun, retard. It's helpfull.

  • hi steven I'm hendy

  • play dota today?

  • Yo :)

  • yo hendy im steven

  • what is the name of the soundtrack?

  • Why do you name the video as you did, if you dont even talk about what the magnetic field is, but of it's properties. A video explaining what it is would be great though :)

  • thank you

  • PRETTY PATTERN ON MAGNET PAPER!!!!!!!!

  • This describes the shape of the field, and demonstrates that it exists, but WHAT IS THE ACTUAL FIELD itself? Is it massive distortions in the aligned electrons that produce it? Is it a warpage of spacetime, like Einstein explains that gravity is? By what mechanism can charge particles reach out across large distances to influence other charged particles? Is it increases/decreases in the pressure of some sort of yet undefined medium filling space?

  • With all respect, i think you might be wrong, in electricity, electricity field lines START at positive and end at NEGATIVE, they start and end, but the magnetic field lines, dont start or end, they dont have a source, in fact, the draw of every line is a circle, so they go from north to south, but they dont start in any of them. some lines might look as straight lines.. but actually they are part of a circle always, as huge as you can imagine it.

  • So, what starts out as 'an idea visualised', and a 'guide' to compass orientation, soon acquires the ability to 'repel' other 'ideas visualised', then these 'ideas visualised' start behaving like 'big elastic bands' (ideas with behaviour! crikey), and this 'behaviour' of 'ideas visualised' now 'require like poles to repel'! Ideas acting forcibly! Astounding! If I visualise the idea of 'gold bars' can I deposit them in my bank account? This is about telekinesis, not magnets or science!

  • good video

  • Great explanation about magnetic field

  • I'm confused..... if it is a field wouldn't it take up the entire space that it effects? what i mean by this is if there are lines representing the field from north to south, how are there gaps between the lines? does this mean its like empty space that the magnets wouldn't effect?and if there is a space such as this, could you possibly bend the fields to stretch the unaffected space?

  • @mikealuscuspus i understand your question, i had it at some point too, lines of force, are just a representation, actually there are infinite lines from the north to the south, but if we draw em all, or a lot of them, you would just see a blur wouldnt you? so we draw some of them, there's not an exact number of lines, jsut a representation so we can understan the phenomenom better. hope it helps. and sorry my english sucks.

  • I feel like sucking dick after watching this video.

  • @darkhaxx0r

    cuz you are gay

  • @darkhaxx0r I'm 7 what do you mean?

  • soooooo gay!

  • Thanks for the video- the part where we could see the magnetic field with metal shavings was cool.

  • Why don't you losers say something intelligent instead of spewing rude comments? If you think this is so "gay" than why are you watching this video in the first place?

  • Yes yes, but what exactly is the 'field line' made of? What is the actual thing responsible for the line? Please dont just say how it reacts with something, or what it does, tell me what the fields are.

  • @kaderoder Iron filings are long splinters of iron. each splinter becomes a tiny compass, . and a magnet which attracts another magnet etc. Check out my videos.

  • @ourtrashcans ?????????

  • @kaderoder Its atomic. The spin of an electron, combined with its electric charge, results in a magnetic dipole moment and creates a small magnetic field.

  • @ourtrashcans Ok, but what is the field made of? Not what causes it, how it behaves, why it has north or south, or its relation to other matter- What is the field made from?

Like saying gravity is pulling me towards the Earth because of mass. What is pulling on me exactly?

  • @NASAsCO2LIES Interfacial tension? I like to think that field lines want to be straight. The bends must make the inside and outside of a given line, different force values which need to be balanced. This state could also create the polar flux.

  • @NASAsCO2LIES

That is what I am wondering. Gravity is a great example. Einstein showed that what a gravitational field is really the warping of space-time around a mass. Then what is a magnetic field a warping of?

  • @kaderoder

That is what I am wondering. Gravity is a great example. Einstein showed that what a gravitational field is really the warping of space-time around a mass. Then what is a magnetic field a warping of?

  • kinda ironic to find such idiotic comments on an educational video ;)

  • this is so gay imma watch porn instead of this gay sht

  • who the fuc cares about retarded magnets. i agree with talear. id rather give it to a dog than watch this.

  • this guy is sooooooosoooooooosoooooosoooooo g a y

  • this guy anyous me

  • this is so gay i rather watch porn instead

  • i so bored with this

  • lol i don't know

  • M=EC2

  • I guess ActiveStorage is not interested in any more info that connects the dots of this galactic electron puzzle and how this could effect us in the very near future?

I have modeled a turbine design after the electron. It's going to take a few bucks to fabricate, but the concept is proven to be quite sound. Burns no fuel!

  • I JIZZED ALL IN MY PANTS

  • Maybe you've explained this somewhere else, but as far as magnetism is concerend and the way it flows, the south pole individual magnet travels through the north pole and the north pole magnet flows through the south pole. the only person who tackles what magnetism is was Ed Leedskalnin. Check out his Perpetual Motion Holder. It defies all laws of physics. just a thought anyway. good video

  • @luci332...Leedskalnin design uses the perpetual motion locked within the dual vortical structure of the electrons to be aligned in the steel which creates a magnet until the path is disrupted. This electromagnet induced magnetic field. It takes electrons to move electrons. The electrons move threw the coils (current flow) from the power source which aligns the electrons in the steel plates. Laminates disrupt the net vortical field effect of the electrons.

  • James Clerk Maxwell believed that the energy in electromagnetism was mechanical - that there was matter in motion along the field lines. The work of Joseph Newman is based on this principle.

  • @IppatsuTensei88 some people think that gravity is not a fundamental force but just a by-product of electromagnetic interaction between huge amount of elemental particles (or are they really particles?) It kinda makes sense to me. Even formulas for both gravitational and electromagnetic interactions are pretty damn similar. Plus gravity is so weak and rare. Yet electromagnetism is literally everywhere

  • @ActiveStorage Even though I do not understand fully, I give these kind of idea's consideration. One thing which I was taught about gravity doesn't make sense, what I'm talking about is the centre of gravity. The law of gravitational attraction is an inverse SQUARED law. Mathematically the "centre of gravity" would be closer than what is known as the centre of mass. Have you heard of John Searl?

  • @IppatsuTensei88 no i'll look him up

  • @IppatsuTensei88.... John Searle uses the square effect of the electrons in the induced electromagnetic field. Like doubling numbers.

This amplifies the magnetic field over and over until the laminar friction flow of subatomic particles that are induced in all matter called a gravity pull (this would be like wind forcing against matter) except the particles flow thru the matter.....well the amplified magnet field disrupts this flow which negates the effects of gravity on his field generator.

  • @IppatsuTensei88 ...and this is why we have E=MC2 ....Give this some thought. Do you know why you get an electromagnetic pulse from a nuk explosion?

  • @guestseeking does it have something to do with ionization of the air right after the explosion?

  • @ActiveStorage .....Our sun is the equivalent of a capacitive or (slow) discharging nuclear explosion!

The extreme gravity and electromagnetic field effectively contains the particles for a gradual release.

  • @guestseeking can you describe me the actual mechanics of it? Can you tell me how exactly gravity and electromagnetic field contain those energies inside the core and at the same time both gradually and uniformly release such enormous energies? Do you have a model that can actually describe the process?

     thank you very much

  • @guestseeking I have a different interpretation of what John is talking about with his "law of squares". I believe they are also know as "magic squares". There are a few gaps in your explanation - "This amplifies..." - I don't know what you are referring to? Also the Searl Effect is purported to induce anti-gravitational effects and not simply gravity cancelling - although now that I think about it, centrifugal force could explain the levitation instead. I would like to learn more.

  • @IppatsuTensei88 .....E=MC2 is the 2 particle nature of the electron when it splits apart there are now 2 particles and there are now 4 particles then 8 particles then 16 particles until there is enough time and space separation for this energetic state to slow down and cool off. Very simple.

  • @guestseeking your explanation is simple, but possibly not true. I want to understand but you give no explanation. What are these particles you speak of and how are you making your implication that this has to do with time and space separation? I have heard of matter and anti-matter, upon contact they cancel and release a photon - something like that, it was an experiment to demonstrate photons having momentum. They are two particles. I've also heard of Quarks. It may be better to supply a link.

  • @Ippatsu..The time and space(separation) of these particles ....think of the law of thermodynamics. Matter cools! Matter that is compressed must expand. As the electrons separate they speed up and cool down! If not there would be a runaway chain reaction. In any explosive compression and decompression there is exponential reaction at different reaction levels. A light bulb is a very controlled electron compression. A grinding wheel on materials and even our sun! Fire is a release of electrons.

  • @IppatsuTensei88 i dont have any explanations btw. I just said that i dont believe in current "thermonuclear" model of the sun. I tend to believe in something else. Unfortunately i cannot explain it to you. It's my (and some other people's personal assumption. I can give you a simple example though. Our planet Earth is structurally very similar to the Sun. By that i mean Earth's ionosphere can reach up to 600 Celsius. Just like the Sun's photosphere (aka corona)

  • @ActiveStorage The van Alen belts of our Earth are similar to much bigger "radioactive" areas around the sun. If you look at the photos of our sun very carefully i hope you'll notice 2 thin belt-like structures around the equator. (a bit to the north and to the south of it). They are composed of higher concentration of black spots. Look up satellite weather patterns here on earth. Or map of annual lightning strikes. Or global map of ocean currents. Same structures.

  • why mega-cyclones are all formed in exactly the same areas? What makes these "formation zones" so stable for ions? Auroras on the poles of our planet. Did you know that the stronger the electromagnetic forces in those currents the wider auroras become? Technically auroras can become so intense that they would shift from the poles all the way to the equator of our planet. Our planet actually radiates in infra red spectrum. So does many other planets

  • @ActiveStorage some antient documents also say that Saturn used to "shine"... i dont wanna start that endless guess-work here on utube. google knows it all lol. And as i said earlier these are just people's assumptions that i tend to gravitate towards to. I cant prove any of that. And most likely i never will.

  • The Searl effect electromagnetic generation device is a miniature model of a galaxy!

  • @guestseeking no doubt that our and other galaxies generate energy. Also they could consume energy from even bigger structures of the universe that we dont know about yet. My main concern about Searl Effect is that i dont understand its principle. I dont understand the mechanics of it. From what i've heard about it it's a fraud. But i dont know myself. Will try to find out more.

    ps

sorry about me going all over the place with planets and how they are similar to stars. I'll stop posting here

  • @guestseeking.... You create an electromagnetic pulse when electrons are compressed to the point that they stop spinning and when they restart they rip them selves apart ...extreme heat, light and high energy particles smaller than the electron are the results. The EMP is when the electrons rapidly spin backup and over spin to there destruction.

Now you know how to pull apart an electron.....now ask your self what it would take to make an electron?

  • that was fairly simple

  • Very nice and simple experiment, see my video DIY Strong water cooled electromagnet.

  • Comment removed

  • It is very unscientific to describe the magnetic field as elastic bands because, frankly, they are not.

  • Once you know what a magnet is you will actually understand what a magnetic field force is and how it's being created.

    1st Clue

What does a thunderstorm and a bathtub full of water have in common?

Think about this and post your thoughts.....I will be back with more clues to ponder. :-)

    Keep searching for answers!

    Guest Seeking

  • @guestseeking the capacitance. both thunderstorms and bathtub holds a certain amount of "stuff" whenever the bathtub overfills the lightning strike happens

    ps

how come we cant register the current flow inside a permanent magnet?

    pss

one can understand how magnetic force is being created but i dont think we will ever understand what this magnetic force really is. We can just start the name-calling process and develop concepts and theories but that's guessing without actually knowing

  • @ActiveStorage ...

Your correct ...both storm and tub are capacitors......to dump the tub would be the equivalent of a lightning strike. A charged sheath vortex (tornado and the vortex) at the drain is the equivalent of a capacitive discharge!

All of these things are created by nature......so we copy these natural devices.

There is no electron (current flow in a magnet) electrons are in motion, but not flowing!.....

  • @ActiveStorage ...

To make my point, you can put your hand in a million gallon tank of water and it won't bother you, but stand in front of a 20 inch open pipe at the bottom of the same tank (yes ...the water is flowing!) ...well get your boogie board and life jacket cause you going for a ride.

  • @ActiveStorage ...

Now one drop of water has little effect on any thing, but collectively thousands of gallons of water can correlate to many horse power of work.... (useful energy potential)

One electron in a magnet would never have an effect worth noticing. Place billions of electrons together and align or synchronize there spin and you get a large field effect ...(never to be confused with electron flow).

  • So this capacity or storage of electrons can now be put to work (as a magnet)...it takes an electron to effect an electron.

Magnets will move electrons very effectively in other materials that have random electron motion.

I guess you would be able to conclude that a magnet amplifies the motion of other electrons just as a collective sum of drops of water can amplify a motive force in a water turbine.

  • @ActiveStorage ...

Bottom line .... a magnet is an "Electron amplifier" even if the magnet is created by electricity or from nature it's still an amplifier.....so now you know the true definition of a magnet. "Electron amplifier"

Cathode ray tubes use electromagnetic coils to amplify and direct electron on the glass screen in patterns to create a light emission picture. That's why you can feel a static electric charge build up on the surface of the tube.

  • If you want to see real electrons in random motion.....turn on your TV with no signal and watch the electron show ...that's right! STATIC.....billions of electron in random motion slamming into the picture tube!

Now you also know what electrons look like in motion!

Now there is a correlation between light emission and the electrons striking the screen.

When you start to understand how there related ....

  • you will have a better understanding what fire is and why the sun shines and why a light bulb is like the sun in may ways.

Tell me what fire is and I'll get back with more questions and answers.....there all related to each other.

  • @guestseeking fire is a form of plasma right? low temperature plasma with some (very few numbers) of free electrons and free ions (low energy i believe?) i love all your explanations btw. Thank you and keep up a great work! People should learn by themselves and educate themselves. That the only way out of the situation the world has found itself in these days. So have you heard about the "electric" universe? Solar wind is also plasma! Isnt that awesome??! And noone talks about it in schools!

  • @guestseeking u wrote "Place billions of electrons together and align or synchronize there spin and you get a large field effect ...(never to be confused with electron flow)."

thank you for clearing it up. But im still curious.. do you think there is some sort of external force that gives electrons their spin and aligns or synchronize them together? For some reason it doesnt happen with every chemical element.. or does it? I tried to find more info on how permanent magnets are made but failed

  • @ActiveStorage .....Well as for the spin lineup first lets look at the north and south poles of the magnet. As every one knows they attract and repel which leads us to a very important question...WHY! like poles repel and opposites poles attract.....north could be represented by a number or letter. Say north is 1 and south is 2 so 1 and 1 repel as 1 and 2 would attract......my point is lets think past the labels we have all come to recognize then we'll see a different mental picture take shape.

  • @ActiveStorage...lets look at a magnet like a paper cup. You can stack them together in one direction but not the other. Now take that cup and look into it as you spin it clockwise. Now keep spinning as you turn it over. Which way is it spinning? Should be counter clockwise! Now take another cup and place the bottoms agains each other and spin them in opposite directions....this is like poles that repel. Put the cups inside each other and they spin the same direct. Opposites attract. Magic!

  • @ActiveStorage...so this attraction and repulsion is actually the net effect of all the electrons aligned with the vortex spin. The more electrons that align the stronger this effect will feel. Now we need to have a better understanding of electrons or the subatomic realm.....so lets look at the micro compared to the macro universe and you arrive at more question needing to be answered. What makes an electron keep spinning? Then ask what could make an electron partical so small yet keep working?

  • @ActiveStorage @ActiveStorage...electrons have a built in speed governor like an ice skater in a spin that pulls there arms in to speed up and opens there arms wide to slow down. If you take a galaxy the center spins very fast compressing matter into a very small point in space. An electron is doing the same thing...I believe them to be folded down twice on them selves.

  • @ActiveStorage... A vortex that swallows the end of another vortex spinning so fast that they flatten out compressing each other like knotting up a rubber band. Say a black hole that won't form all the way. Now to give you an idea how fast they spin. So fast there invisible to the eye, but when slowed down to the frequency spin in the visible light spectrum you can see them for but a brief moment till they cool and regain there balanced invisible to the eye spin...faster than the speed of light!

  • @ActiveStorage...Now lets look at that fire....your correct again! The electrons are energetically slammed into each other causing spin friction! Take a grinding wheel to steel and watch the sparks fly! The molecules are compressing the electrons against each other as they heat up they slow to the speed of visible light ...they lose there bonding position and material starts to pull apart (melt if you please!) Fire is the electrons going free and rise as visible light and speed up as they cool!

  • @ActiveStorage...Now ask your self what does a light bulb, the sun and electron have in common with a galaxy? This will lead us to more questions when answered, but you'll have a better understanding of what role this little practical called the electron has. You will understand sun spots and what galaxy is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What do they have in common? ;-)

  • @guestseeking i really dont know what light bulb, the sun and electron have in common. Maybe they are all powered from outside? Maybe they all have energy supply (some form of "vortex") going in at the pole "1" or "+" and coming out at the pole number "2" or "-" ? And vice verse? Like if there is 2 opposed but complementary energy "currents" flows through them? Light bulb doesnt rotate.. So rotation is not what they have in common. They all have poles. Thats for sure

  • @ActiveStorage...well let look at the light bulb. When you force electrons to flow threw the tungsten wire the electrons are forced against each other causing them to slow down giving of light and heat up from friction against each other just like in the grinding wheel which creates sparks. Now the sun has a great mass that compresses the electrons against each other and the core heats to millions of degrees. Electrons can only heat the wire to it's melting point then it burns out.

  • @ActiveStorage so the electron makes the bulb and the sun give off heat and light! Now what are those silly black sun spots....any idea???:-)

  • @guestseeking areas where electrons dont lose as much energy. so they dont give out as much light. I personally dont believe in nuclear fusion model of the stars to tell you the truth. Lots of observational facts argue against that theory. I just have a feeling that stars are just like enormously large planets with extremely hot atmosphere and ionosphere (corona). If i forget about the assumption of the star being a thermonuclear furnace I would make another assumption and say that sunspots are

  • @ActiveStorage that sunspots are the sun's analogy of the cyclone\anticyclone's bull-eyes here on earth.

Though i havent really answered your question because one have to make another assumption about what earth's cyclones and anticyclones really are.

lol way too many assumptions. guess-work is fun

  • @ActiveStorage Sun spots are vortical in nature...correct! spectrographic results actually indicated the presence of H2O (water!) I have witnessed flares being sucked back into the sunspots as they erupted. The spots have magnetic vortex that are taking in electrons and matter from space resupply the inside of the sun with atomic particles to compress so as to breakdown the subatomic electron to it's smaller vortex particles. This compression forces electrons to generate heat and light.

  • @ActiveStorage....Now answer this question.....What is your understanding of a galaxy? I'll be back with more ideas for you to ponder!

  • @guestseeking maybe there are 2 highly energiezed objects in the center of the galaxy rotating aroun each other? Just like in the example with an iceskater or the electron that can equalize or "balance out" its own rotation. So maybe there is no black holes but 2 very high enery "points" that can move apart and come closer as they rotate.

Some people say that galaxy behaves just like a homopolar motor. But i personally dont know much about homopolar motors. I dont know what galaxy is

  • @guestseeking wow.. thank you! have you heard about the theory that earth is electrically connected to the solar environment (through so called solar wind) and that our sun is electrically connected to the intergalactic medium (aka galactic wind or whatever they want to call the charged particles coming from the center of our milky way). i think plasma cosmology and electric universe is a realy neat concept

    ps

do u think there is got to be some kind of external force to align all the electrons

  • If you want to know what magnetism is you need to first understand what a magnet is.

Fortunately you don't have to know what a magnet is to make one.

All things that man can create has been replicated from and already exists in a natural form.

Yes, even magnets complete with a magnetic field can be replicated!

So man can produce a magnet without really knowing about that which he is replicating.

Ask your self what a magnet can do will give you a clue as to what a magnet is.

  • Fuckin' magnets... HOW DO THEY WORK??? I don't want to talk to a scientist they are lying and getting me PISSED!!!

  • so are magnetic fields a wave like light or sound or are they a particle?

  • @knutsenglenn Perhaps a magnetic field is the direction and movement of space?

  • December 2010, Scientific American, "A Geometric Theory of Everything", page 55. Einstein and the vibrating string theory are "out" and "circles" are in. All this is math. No one can really see strings or circles anyway. The upshot is that in the physical world no one knows what gravity and electromagnetism are. Once again, naming something is not knowing. We will know when we know. Become scientists. Freethinkers.

  • hey can you show the way of the magnetic field on electromagnetic coils, please?

  • Is it any wonder that the nonsensical lines of force cannot "cross",lol, it is like saying pressure at one depth could cross the pressure at another depth. A gradient such as water pressure or magnetism cannot cross anything as there is nothing to cross. The pressure or magnitude changes uniformly with distance and acts on or through everything in it, which is why magnetism cannot be shielded any more than gravity can. Please stop perpetuating this incorrect nonsense as it serves nobody.

  • @urallcanadian Great, you are aces high in my book. Some of the problems we have run into in this thread have simply been semantic. Here is an example. The Science Channel continues to refer to gravity as "the pull of gravity". It is more educational to say objects FALL toward or away from other objects when one does not know. Gravity is real, however, the underpinnings is all theory. Let us not dumb it down by continuing to use bad words and terms in the name of the convention.

  • Unfortunately this is complete nonsense, First there are no lines of force they are imaginary and used as a form of notation. Second the magnetic field is a scalar field gradient, that means each point in space has a magnitude but no direction(scalar) the magnitude of each point weakens by the distance from the source. The correct analogy for a magnetic field is water pressure, the pressure changes with depth and the pressure is not something but a condition of something--water.

  • Magnets, now we KNOW how they work! :P

  • This was so wonderful! Thanks so much for posting this! Really helped me understand magnetic fields...wikipedia was just not cutting it. Thanks again!

  • I just have a quick question... how do you determine the magnetic field of a bar magnet, or anything solid that can support induction?

I've only ever used electric dipoles as a magnetic analog when I program. I've never needed anything more because I do it as a hobby.

  • Electromagnetic thought healing. Be relaxed.

    watch?v=chP_Nsb_Mbs

  • That helped, thank you!

  • Let us all be clear with our ideas and facts and leave the synicism at home, please!

  • Wow, so the magnetic field is "...an idea visualized"???

That's what the magnetic field is?!?!?!

This has got to be THE worst explanation for an magnetic field that I have ever heard.

But I shouldn't be to critical seeing as no one can actually explain what it is.

Lines of force?? Nope not a good one either.

  • Q: What are these magnetic field lines?

    .

A: They are an idea visualized... guides which tell us in what direction a compass will point.

    .

Absolutely brilliant! I will use this 'explanation' of yours as the official version of magnetism every time a relativist or mechanic visits my site.

  • @bgaede

    r u serious???

    you're not right?

  • Fine, just don't forget that all electromagnetic radiation travels out from a magnet in a straight line. There is no radiation traveling from pole to pole. That is just a diagram of the intensity. The problem is your teachers don't know this either and will test you on the convention and not the facts. The lines drawn are analogous to barometric lines on a weather map which show only points of similar pressure. Kids, you're smarter than that. To pass your test you must ignore reality.

  • secondary 4 students learn this in quebec

  • whats that jazzy tune in the end of video ?

  • Magnetic lines of force are created when North/South monopoles move in opposite directions, this is what creates a dipole. you can find more information about monopoles here (wbabin.net/science/wippler.pdf)

  • need to explain what generates the lines

  • explain short circuit

  • Q. how do you get a sigle pole magnet?

Most magnets have two pole N+S with meridian inbetween

  • `What do you know about Orme or the bizzar qualities of gold?

  • does the magnet get stronger at the poles when it's connected to another magnet?

  • fcuking magnets how do they work?

  • Actually the magnetic field is probably a quantized spin of the aether particles, (electron positron-holes sea?) and just because we use another loop of current to "see" the magnetic field it doesn't necessary means that the "magnetic lines" are perpendicular to the current flow....but this is only between us, pssssss!

  • if i would know what magnetic field really is , i would be a billionaire now...we are now in 2010 and we have no idea what that is...virtual photons, right...

  • @nfexp,

Correct, we do not know what force at a distance is. Magnets both pull and push. Does gravity pull and/or push. No way of knowing. And "space-time" curves is just another name ... for something we don't know.

  • hehe ... What is the magnetic field? Well, nobody knows that ... there is no answer. We know who it works but nobody knows what it is :-)

  • Ok, lines, poles, all clear, but what the heck IS magnetic field?

  • hey - Pretty Good- except I have read several times that S - flows to N. your video is the first I have seen that states otherwise. (?)

  • @jimmbrasfield: no, magnetic field lines point from the north pole to the south pole. One thing to remember though, is that the magnetic poles of the earth are the opposites of the geographic poles (ie. the magnetic south pole is the geographic north pole).

  • so 2 magnets combined (opposite to opposite) will excert half the force of 2 seperate magnets because the poles at the contact cancel each other out?

  • This view of magnetic field is much more close to Faraday than that of Maxwell

  • I think it is useful to define what a field is before explaining the concept of the magnetic field. Good video though.

  • Lmao, i thought the blog sight read Tits and Windmills =.P woops.

  • Great 3rd grade science! Now tell them what a magnetic field really is! You're using a rather lame paradigm.

  • is that where the Gauge Bosons come in, they mediate the magnetic field don't they?
