Here we are in little Victor, Idaho with maybe 1000 people (and lots of kids!) and Alejandro played his heart out...got us up and moving. It's been years since I found new music I like as much of Alejandro Escovedo!
This guy is such a class act. I caught him back around 2002 and then saw him after the show at the Clermont, an infamous dive in Ponce ATL...chatted with him while we drank beers and watched Blondie crush beer cans with her tits...just an awesome guy and he treated me, a scrub fan, with respect. Huge props to you A!
Just saw Alejandro and the gang at the Bowey Ballroom. It was an amazing show - nearly all of Real Animal and AllThe Young Dudes and a Motorhead tune for the encore. AMAZING. I think Alejandro is the only one out there who can rock like that and then play at Carnegie Hall with his cellos and violins. What versatility.
okay - just took a break from work and walked over to Virgin and bought it - along with Bourbonitis Blues (I Was Drunk - damn! what a song!). I even did something I NEVER do and paid full price for it. 18.99. So far I'm 3 tracks in - damn again! if the whole thing lives up to the first 3 songs then it's a masterpiece.
One of my very first concerts was Alejandro in Rank & File at the Pomona Valley Auditorium with Blood On The Saddle and The Mr. T Experience. The fact that I can still remember the lineup after 25 or so years should tell you how great a show it was!
I love love love Alejandro! Saw him last month at the CD release party in Austin, it was freakin' awesome! I was dancing on the table to "Real Animal", haven't done that in years! This album rocks big time!
Alejandro is a truly brilliant artist! He is part of music royalty my hometown, Austin, and we love him. This is not only his best record, but perhaps the best record across the board.
what was the name of your band deucesolo? anything someone in DC into obscure music might know? I'm seeing Al in one month at the 930 Club. can't tell you how much I need this f-ing show just to sustain me for a bit. new album looks great via this clip. very cool he's going from Cale to Tony V. for production. take care.

Alejandro is an amazing musician and I was lucky enough to open up for his band The True Believers in '84.
