Actually most of them are made in China now! There hasn't been a domestic camera industry in the US or UK for decades, except for a few profesional large format cameras, but that applies to virtually all consumer electronic products. If they were made here they'd probably cost about three times as much.

Why on earth are all these good cameras coming from Japan and not from the United States of America or even in the United Kingdom? THIS IS NOT A RACIST QUESTION!

Don't know, but why on earth would you want this. It ruins your pictures. The date/time for every digital pic is recorded in the EXIF data accompanying each shot and this data can be read, displayed, sorted ans searched by pretty much every photographic software application.
