@DeadlyInertia a pilot following SID's, Planned departures, ATC Commandments thats who.... dont forget they are trained pofessionals they know what they are doing... if it wasnt safe, then why would they hae done it eh?
I've been there - diverted to Macon, GA on the way to ATL (after flying in circles over TN for about 45 min). Sat there for about an hour then did a fast take off to get out of there.
They couldnt get above the storm as ATL was so close, so they flew just under the clouds. It was bumpy and lightning was striking around. Def one of my fav flights.
@pietrovaldes Planes get hit by lightning all the time. Each airliner gets hit once a year on average. They are designed with this in mind, so being hit by lightning is generally no more than an inconvenience in terms of having to paint over the scorch mark. Source: MSNBC: Lightning strikes of aircraft rarely disastrous; 1 June 2009.
I'd have to disagree with your comment. I believe, as usual for a fairly busy airport such as KMFO, that you took off that quickly to move out of the way for approaching air traffic behind you. You'll hear it all the time on United Channel 9 (I know you're flying Delta though). Great video none the less. You got a good spot next to the engine. Listen to it pure, lol. Also, I too am curious at what 2:10 was all about. An addin or you really caught something and edited it in a pause?
For all you clowns who dis the kids on this vid, I'm sure you all were perfect angels on aircraft as kids right??? STFU already.

@Sooksawaspakdee961 it is FAA regulations that at least one annoying child is aboard every flight! I know; I'm a pilot.

That was only lightning striking the wing. It doesn't hurt anything while flying, only when grounded.
